OMG I remember listening to this EVERY Sunday morning while getting ready for church. Been looking for this song for a while.Thank you so so much for posting this, love this rendition...I can face tomorrow, because I know He lives.
Lawwwwd I have searched and searched for this song I know for at least 25 years!! I am SO GLAD I finally found it!!!!!! I have LOVED this rendition since the first time I heard it at the age of 12! Can't nobody "BRING IT" like Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, and can't nobody "WHOOP A HAMMONDS" like Twinkie!! Thank you poster for posting this....BECAUSE HE LIVES!!!
This was recorded in the latter part of the 70's. Maybe 1977. I was there during that Saturday Night Midnight Musical when it was held at Mason Temple. The organ could be heard throughout the neighborhood.
@cwshere1 Glad you are blessed by this rendition...one correction, this song was written by Bill Gaither....however this arrangement was done and directed that evening by Lonnie Morgan, West Angeles COGIC...Los Angeles CA
@Ikesay ..Correction??..I don't recall to my knowledge ever disputing who this song was written/arranged by....I don't care about all that , I just love this cut,...with hearing Twinkie, Dr Clark, the choir, and the saints in praise.....
@cwshere1 the purpose of the information was not to settle any type of dispute...merely to give correct historical information. It was intended to inform and educate...not to offend!....This forum should be used for this purpose if possible, given the fact that others beside the person to whom the comment is addressed read it. True, you may not "care about all that", but someone else may appreciate it!....again, GLAD YOU ENJOYED IT!!
This is my FAVORITE rendition of this song ever! I am so delighted to see it posted on YouTube. I am sure that it will be a blessing to others. This song helped me through some VERY tough times!
I second. This is my favorite rendition of BECAUSE HE LIVES. Twinkie and Bettye Nelson ROCKED this here. You can tell they are listening to each other.
if you do your research you will find out that this is BETTYE NELSON! Google it, Sara powell only hits highnotes she never runs. This is Bettye thats why she sung it @ Mattie Moss Funeral.............

You know what, I just listened a little closer to it, and it is Dr. Nelson. She's harder on consonants than Sis.Powell.
