i am 17yrs old and i am interested in going for my cessna license/certificate. can you please let me know the cost of the classes and how difficult it is for you to actually get the certificate..
@nathanhall94 hey, i take flying classes as well, it is a ton of work, you have to give 100% every time you show up for a class or inflight lesson. the price depends on aircraft (at least where i take my classes) i pay 120 an hour in a Diamond Star DA-40 out of KUGN. its not hard if you love what your doing because you will be very willing to learn the stuff. i highly recommend it, i love every minute of every class. lesson. best of luck!
may i ask, what was your situation on that particular moment, i mean well, people ussually get their pilot licence as soon as possible to find a job. but for you was more of a challenge you have to give yourself? it would be difficult having a family and all those things? maybe im wrong, this questions pop on my mind when i try too picture my future :D
Greetings from New York!! Congrats to you. Thanks for sharing your first solo, I enjoyed it so very much. I just got my private license this past summer. Great Job. I am looking to buy the HD pro cam, I see that it works remarkably well.
@superskullmaster Actually, the runways are quite wide at Beverly Airport, although they look very narrow on the video (probably due to the fish-eye lens of my GoPro Hero camera). Since my solo flight, I have gotton better in following the centerline. :)
@patrickmollette15 Thank you! Yes, the video was way too long, I know. My instructor gets off at arounds 8:30 minutes into the video. I have a shorter version under my Videos, which is only about 5 minutes long.
@DiarmuidOhibicin Thank you mate. I took my time for the training in order to spread the cost over a 10-month period. I got my Sport Pilot License a couple months ago, which only requires a minimum of 20 hours of flight (dual instruction + solo). In contrast, Private Pilot License requires a minimum of 40 hours.
How fast do these things climb? I'm going to fly one in three weeks at some school... it was some travel zoo deal.. guna go for my PPL beginning in Feb though!
@CJModiano As PennaPlanum indicated, it is about 1200 fpm, but only when there is only a regular-sized pilot on board. With two people, you will lose a couple 100s of fpm. Enjoy your flight in February!
congrats on your first solo, now you need to learn throttle management. When you taxi, you just need enough power to get the airplane moving then you can pull the power back, unless of course you like being a throttle jockey...lol
@willsgotrythm42 Thank you for your advice. On this plane (PiperSport), the engine needs to be at minimum 2500rpm at all times for proper cooling, when the plane is on the ground. Cheers.
@737pilot7 typically thats done through an audio cable, one with quarter inch, one with regular sized head phone jacks. The 1/4 inch is plugged into an audio in cable in the cockpit, and records audio only of course.
@737pilot7 Thank you very much! I downloaded my ATC communications as an audio file from liveatc (dot) net and then overlayed it on my video using Windows Live Movie Maker. I hope this helps.
@alberttky Thank you mate! PiperSport (now sold as Chech SportCruiser) is a super fun airplane with very responsive controls and very little adverse yaw. It is kind of like driving a Mazda Miata, very nible. Good luck with your future purchase!
@bugnut82 I was a bit nervous the night before (I knew my instructor would be soloing me the next day). But all my nervousness disappeared as soon as I climbed the cockpit. I had a great instructor, who gave me a great deal of confidence before my solo.
@rocktruggy03 Thank you! The GoPro camera is so versatile. You can attach it outside the airplane (of course also securing it with a line for just in case) and it won't fall off during flight.
@badbrad2424 Hi Brad. Sorry about the late response; I have not been checking my messages on my YouTube account for some time. How is your flight training going? Paul is such a great instructor. He gave me so much confidence during my initial training that I did not have any doubts or fear during my solo. Good luck with your training!
@kinsley2108 Thank you very much! It was my first solo ever. I had started my pilot training back in 2000 in Cessna 172, but after about 5 hours I had to stop (I was a graduate student at that time and neither had the money nor the time). Finally, I got back into flying early 2011. The new Sport Pilot training turned out to be a blessing for me. PiperSport is a very enjoyable little airplane, so I did stick to my pilot's training this time. I finally got my Sport Pilot license in October 2011.
Very nice. I just had my first solo in a SportCruiser also, uploaded my vid to my channel.
