  • thank you amorphis for making such a badass album!!!!!!!!!!

  • Perkele was in fact the god of thunder, not fire.

  • wow, after elegy and tuonela i didnt expect these guys to go back to their old ways, like the Karelian Isthmus and Tales from The Thousand Lakes albums... not that i didnt like elegy and tuonela, but they are bouncing between rock and seriously heavy metal... never know what to expect with them

  • I just came across this band recently, and I can already tell they're great. The first song I heard from them was House of Sleep and I almost came in my pants when I listened to it. This song is pretty great, but I also love the clean vocals. Can someone recommend another of their songs with clean singing? :D

  • ¡Estupendo!

  • wow i found this by typing in my Title (God of Fire ) and found this....do i regret it? nope

  • @PohjolaNorden Perkele oli alun perin väännös balttien ukkosenjumalan nimestä. Myöhemmin siitä tuli myös synonyymi Ukolle. Suomalaisen tulet jumalat olivat Lempo (feminiininen tulen jumalatar, lisäksi nuoren seksuaalisuuden jumalatar) ja Joukahainen (miehinen tulen jumala, myös maskuliinisuuden ja äkkipikaisen luonteen jumala)

  • Skeidaaaa

  • perkele is the god of rain and thunderstorm....

  • perkele

  • Itse olen ymmärtänyt, että Perkele on vanhempi jumala kuin Ukko. Ukko sitten syrjäytti tämän pääjumalan paikalta, mutta Perkele jäi tulen jumalaksi. Kristinusko tosiaan sitten teki Perkeleestä kirosanan.

  • Eargasm

  • On se vaa komia biisi!

  • Vittu Saatana Perkele!

  • i found this song randomly....best random video ever.

  • This whole Eclipse album is amazing, production is perfect

  • @insidethefall78 This is definitely the peak of their career.

  • is that a hurdy gurdy at the beginning!?

  • wait...the dudesons said perkele means the great grandfather of satans...and use as 'oh shit/oh f*ck/dammit' today...PERKELE! just like the sound of it

  • @thegillband I thought exactly the same thing...I even say "Perkele" everytime I screw something up...is any Finnish person capable of explaining WTF ?

  • @Aaeternitade I'm not Finnish, but Perkele was originally a god until the Christians came and made him into a devil.

  • @Aaeternitade I'm Finnish, and as far as I know, Perkele used to mean the god of thunder, like our version of Thor. Christians demonized the word, though, and made it the Finnish translation of words like "diabolos" and "Teufel" (=the Devil, Satan).

As a power word, it used to be a cry for the god for strength. Since Christianity's spread, it's made sound more like a plea for strength from the Devil.

  • @Avaliac thanks! now I will make a correct use of such an awesome word instead of lowering it to a simple swear.

  • i just woke up and i listen to it. this song is like coffee to me... wakes me up for good!!

  • they remind me of the old Scar Symmetry, brilliant

  • @bennett475 first off, there is no OLD scar symmetry....they formed in 2004....And Scar symmetry reminds on Amorphis...a much older band...not other way around....

  • OMFG lol, one moron didn't like this.

  • @H34db4ng312

isn't there any way to know who is this fag..!?

    how could someone do this..

no one hates a song by Amorphis and stay alive.. :C

  • @i0Hermony0i Maybe their finger slipped when trying to hit the thumb-up button...

  • @sarah2837

    yeh ... maybe..

    that should be their exquse..!

    or else,,,, O_O

  • everytime i step in to a room this song should be played

  • PERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELEPERKELE

  • @TheSoturitar wait you forgot PERKELE :(

  • Im from finland and i really know what perkele means.. xD its like satan .

  • @Liqization, by its origin it has no christian meaning so the devil-association is a bit of a stretch. yes, according to christian traditions perkele is the big guy "downstairs" but how the word itself is used is closer to "haista vittu" than anything satanic.

  • @somberlight "haista vittu" is more like fuck you, because fuck is vittu, and perkele = saatana, (well perkele is not straightly saatana) and saatana is piru, and piru is satan (well saatana is satan too)

  • @Liqization

but i thought that Perkele means damn or something like that.. :(

  • @i0Hermony0i Well yeah, perkele is more like swearing and i dont know why i said that perkele means saatana, cos saatana means satan and perkele is just a swear, your right :D

  • great song

  • Perkele was a Finnish pagan god who became synonymous with Satan and whose name was made into a swear word after christianity arrived in Finland.

  • Better than sex

  • @farmerjunge =D da haste nicht ganz unrecht ;-)

  • 1:09 to 1:14 got my nipples hard....yeah!

  • Ei voi oikee muuta sanoo ku että PERKELE!!!!

  • 2:05

    One of my favoritte solos!!

Amazing song, I listen to it everyday!

  • hmm damn sexy

  • Vittu!!!

  • Perkele ku nyt voi olla ylpeä suomalaisuudestansa :D:D

  • one of their best songs!

  • Dumbass question. But just for the sake of it I have to ask, is that Tomi growling?

And Marco Hietala in the back?

  • Most likely.

  • Okay x)

  • Perkele oli itse Ukko Ylijumala. Perkeleestä tuli "kirosana" kristinuskon myötä, koska epäjumalat haluttiin kitkeä pois suomalaiseten uskonnosta.

  • Perkele oli kyllä ukkosen jumala mutta ihan miten vaan

  • @Gnorconpro mielenkiintoinen etymologia kirosanalla tosiaan

  • They should base their new style more on songs like perkele if u ask me.

  • i mean the growls... joutsenniemi has a really cool voice

  • true

  • good song

  • this is how you should combine growls with clean singing, opeth should listen to this

  • don't compare opeth to amorphis. even if they use a similar concept there's not a lot of common ideas in each of the band's music. and mikael is doing his job as a frontman perfect. combination of clean and brutal vocals coming from him are totally different to amorphis.

  • Great Vocals!!!!

  • Perkele is a god associated with thunder in Finnish mythology.

Perkele is a common swear word in Finnish, meaning "grandfather of satan. This connotation was coined in the Finnish translation of the Bible. The term was used until the 1933/38 translation. The 1992 translation uses the word paholainen "devil" of the Icelandic word "fjandinn". The use of "perkele" in the Bible aimed at demonizing Finnish gods.

  • @astmapiippu

Interesting stuff, tyvm. Had no idea 'perkele' had such a history behind it :D

Fucking brutal song! Amorphis, brutal or soft, awesome nevertheless!

    \m/

  • VITU PERKELEEE

  • it's viTTu perkele :P

  • fuckin amazing

  • great furious song :]
