  • Kim mentions the oil for food programme but does not mention the 500,000 children killed by the Genocidal sanctions. The word Genocidal was used by Denis Halliday (UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq, 1997-98) in describing the sanctions when he resigned. Halliday was replaced by Hans von Sponeck who also quickly resigned saying "How long should the civilian population of Iraq be exposed to such punishment for something they have never done?".
