i fall in love with wisteria. i wish i can have one. i'm looking for the seed now, or maybe a potted plant. it's hard to find it here, i'm from Indonesia.
I have never heard of anyone doing this. In fact I have been told that some people like to buy a potted plant in bloom, so they can be sure it will bloom. There are occasional wisterias that refuse to bloom ever.
I had a wisteria and a trumpet vine in my back yard. I know they were old because the had TRUNKS. Our entire back yard and trees were over taken. What a horror! They were beautiful but they were threatening the trees and us! We NEVER pruned them and they bloomed every year.

It took ten years for my wisteria to bloom,but even expert professional gardeners says sometimes a wisteria will never bloom. Hard to predict.

I planted one about three years ago. How long does it take before you get blooms? Mine has yet to produce one bloom!!
