  • I like Mike Oldfield -- Tubular Bells was magnificent -- but I'm not particularly a fan of this video.

  • Is this latin or italiano?

  • gee this is nice !

  • Karl Jenkins was the orchestral conductor for this album....

  • Nice music! :)

  • i love mike oldfields latest album music of the spheres but what other albums are out their that sound like it?? ive downloaded the tron legacy soundtrack cause thats pretty epic but what else should i go for??? please someone help me! ps. not jenkins

  • @apsinthion

You have to go back to his original work, his Virgin records stuff - Hergest Ridge, Ommadawn, Incantations

  • @apsinthion i think the music made for lord of the rings is absolutely great

you might enjoy it as well

  • Let There & Everywhere Be LIGHT !

Peace, Love, Music & Rainbows !

Lot of SUN, Joy & Happiness !

To All, Now, Ever & Forever !

    ( : - )

  • best on album.

  • this is great, it is kind of more like an animated album cover than a music video, and I think that is a great idea and way to go with online music... great track also.... would be cool too see some classic album covers brought to life in animation....

  • Laqez hace un año dijiste que la musica era el lenguaje de las emociones, y hoy te digo que tienes toda la razón del mundo.

  • beutiful

  • THANK YOU AMA ZING :) VIBRATIONS :)

  • Bien

  • gustav holst the planets influence?

  • @Amarynthine nah Kepler is more likely an influence

  • MARAVILLOSA!!!

Music of the spheres es un disco sublime desde la primera a la última canción.

Grande Mike Olfield. Una sensibilidad artística como pocos.

  • Thank you for the music Mr. Oldfield.

  • emozioni in tutti i "sensi"

  • Egyben meghallgatva az egész albumot, egész más hatása van, mint így külön-külön nézve a videókat. A számok között nincs szünet, egy óra folyamatos zene. Nekem nagyon bejött.

  • Nyugalmat árasztó zene!

  • 22 dislikes??! What the f**k?! There's no chance of not liking this piece of art unless you are not mentally healthy!

  • Thanks for your work, Clothearednincompoop.

Tutto è iniziato con Tubular Bells e ora... dopo The Songs of Distant Earth, non posso ancora credere che Music of the Spheres sia così bello.

  • beautiful

  • Dude the video is great, you must be a true fan to spend so much time workin on something like that !

  • sounds like movie music, well done sounds very professinal

  • tengo todo sus albumnes enteros

  • Do I hear some Karl Jenkins influence in this track? I think so.

  • No wonder if you do. Oldfield does not have the training / knowledge to write for a symphony orchestra and therefore worked with Jenkins on the orchestration.

  • @clothearednincompoop just wondering, how did he go about writing his first album which seemed to me in a symphonic format?

  • @Synrikeman Well I guess it's not exactly in symphonic format, but of course a bit like "classical music with rock instruments" if you like.

I know that Oldfield listened to classical music in his youth so there certainly is a classical influence. I believe he had many of the musical ideas of Tubular Bells already for many years until he then finally got the chance to actually record the whole album.

You can find some interviews at tubular dot net for example.

  • Silly me. You of course talked about "Music Of The Spheres". I just read "first album" and thought about "Tubular Bells".

  • Great music and great images.

  • Great music and a very clever video!

  • 2:05 to 2:35 is beautiful, that flute with the brum beats, i wish it went on like that for 10 minutes! ×D

  • @magicgibbon69 Agreed, by far the most beautiful part of the tune...wished it lasted longer

  • This Video is excellent, can't believe this is an amateur made video.

When I looked at it the first time, I went to the store an bought the 2CD Limited edition. Great album

    Thanks for the video !!

  • Beautiful! I think I'd like to buy this now :)

  • prog rock

  • This track not exactly... but Harbinger? Hell yeah.

  • nagyon jó! :)

  • STUNNING!!! well done..

  • One of the strengths of this albumn is how the whole cd is more of an organic whole, rather than being all seperate tracks with no connection (as often happens with albumns nowadays).

Thats why i like it. Some of his older albumns are also like this. good stuff.

  • Teeeellllement semblable a certaines oeuvre de Joe Hisaishi... donc par le fait même ^^ une belle composition

  • :)) I love it !!!

  • this is absolutey beautiful. Maestro oldfield !!!!!

  • I`m a fan of... from long time!

    :)

  • C'est merveilleux cette musique de Mike !

  • Pablum. I can't believe that people are raving about this. Sounds like bad soundtrack music with occasional noodling.

  • Its clear, you wrote on the false site. This is a track from Mike oldfield, so that what you have written does not work in ANY way...

As i read this i was first shocked...but then the only logical answer is, that you choose the wrong field to put a text for an other artist....

Be aware where and what you wrote.......in germany we call that what you write here: absolut deplaziert und lächerlich!!! :)

  • My site was not false. If you know Mr. Oldfield, I apologize for insulting your friend's album. Otherwise, don't take my opinion personally. Choose, instead, to listen to better music. Aber beklecker nicht das Sofa, Sofa!

  • Some of us like occasional noodling. Maybe we are a bunch of Dummkopfs. ;-)

  • I have to kind of agree, and disagree. As a long time oldfield fan, I think it's one of his most accomplished works ever. But as a long time composer (who actually was inspired by oldfield early on), I think it's a little bit ill-disciplined and purely emotional at times. Oldfield is a master of playing from the heart, and for that I will always love him. But in a work like this, you have to play from the head at least 35 - 45% of the time, which he clearly is not. :/ Anyway. I still like it.

  • I agree somewhat. There are a few tracks on this album that are purely boring.

That being said, I think it's his best album in a decade or more...

Check out the next track from this album "The Tempest"

    That's just genius.

    But perhaps it's just me.

  • Nádhera, miluju písničky od Mike Oldfielda!!

  • toto je naj z albumu :)

  • Always loved Mikes music when he strings it into a continuous flow through the album, the songs of distant earth is one and this is another.

  • hummm trop beau trop bon....

  • splendid

  • If not for his great music, Our dreams, our thoughts and the images portraid by his music would not exist.

    Thankyou soooooo much.

  • I listened to this yesterday as the sun was rising. I felt like as at one with everything for a few moments.

  • If you like this track, buy the CD. This has to be some of his best work yet.

  • 3:33 est mon meilleur passage!

    C'est tellement puissant comme émotion...

  • When I listen to his music it seems to take me to a different plane of existence!!

    Beautiful!

  • Superb Album. The video is very clever as well, congrats on that. Mike Oldfield is very very talented, a musical genius.

  • For something you did for fun, many congratulations.

    I already have the album.

  • it truly is a great album, he amazes me every time he comes out with a new album...he is truly gifted, and we would be poorer for not having mike in our lives....long may he live on...love you mikeand all you stand for...

  • cmpared to tubular bells and portsmouth and all the other classics, it think mike oldfield hasnt put as much into this one. its still alright i guess but not as powerful

  • one of the most powerful albums ever heard, i disagree entierly, and ive heard alot of music, so its not a narrow minded point of view beleive me! its all jsut a matter of preference, and i prefer this album, it does something to me that no toher album does, (n metallica is ma fave band so thats saying something!!)

  • Everytime i hear a piece of mike Oldfield s music i always feel betta about me is that selfish i wonder

  • It happens to me 2! :)

  • i m glad

  • Selfish? No.

I think music is the language of emotions.

  • his music allows you to explore yourself, and it means different things to different people.

  • Plus the graphics you have done are superb..

  • The most beautiful album for a long time. Compares to Hollts The Planets..

  • lovely :)

  • Nada de especial. Uns efeitos aqui e acolá, mas muito baixo do music of the spheres.

    Om

  • I have to agree with some of the folks that this music is a little subdued for Mike Oldfield. Looks like you had a good time rending the video for it though! Nicely done. What rendering app did you use to produce it out of curiosity?

  • Your opinion is as valid as anyone's. :-)

MOTS is not my favourite album, but I find it quite enjoyable. More than some other (recent) albums anyway...

The software was "Asymetrix Web 3D 2.0". It's kind of drag & drop 3D for dummies.

  • Eternal Knot is to MOTS is what a rollercoaster is to a donkey ride.

  • Can't comment. I only have one older Adiemus compilation. That didn't impress me much, although it was somewhat interesting. Maybe I'll check the E.K. out someday...

If you want a rollercoaster, you must listen to Amarok.

  • BTW, Karl Jenkins will kick your butt any day.

  • ...after he has orchestrated and conducted Mike's next "classical" album. ;-)

  • But you have to admit, that it's pretty good elevator music. ;-)

  • Very good animation, compliments! The last bit with the Earth was particularly interesting.

  • Fantastic. Really great :))

  • Mike Oldfieldi muusika annab elule mõtte.

  • I guess that means: "Mike Oldfield's music gives a meaning to life." At least it makes it more interesting. :-)

  • yes it is,fantastic music a gift from god

  • THANK you for posting, it's beautiful;)peace

  • Excellent 5*

  • Thanks for posting this! Fantastic! I have used Mike Oldfield on most of my Space videos. His music is so inspiring. :O)

  • Mike's music is hardwired to your soul. Ever since 1973, his beautiful and uplifting music has helped me and no doubt many others through the triumphs and tribulations of that all too brief journey known as life. He is a genius, and 'Spheres is his masterpiece.....

  • Please, Mr Oldfield, can I have some more....

  • my son !!!

  • Great!

  • Mike Oldfield is a genius and this is brilliantly done. Congratulations.

  • Mike Oldfield is a geniuos!

  • Very creative images matched to the Music of this renowned composer 5*++

  • Ein Meisterstück von Mike, extrem entspannend und musikalisch perfekt ausbalanciert.

5* sind nichts desto trotz zu wenig, um diesen Stück gerecht zu werden.

  • I hear you.

  • Tubular Bells was good back then, but Spheres

    is a masterpiece by comparison

    keep it up Mike.

    thanks for the vid

  • ive never been much into this style of music. but i remembered to listen to monlight shadow n decided to download an album. i chose this album andi ts possibly one of the best things ive ever heard

  • have a bubbly bath, turn down your lights and chill. this is a beautiful piece of music and a welcome back to mike.

  • btw that was a reply to polaris and bob

  • Does anybody know what the women sing and/or if it means anything. It's so beautiful

  • Terra autem erat inanis

    Super faciem abyssi

    Lux æterna dona nobis

    Terra autem erat in cæli

I'm not sure exactly what it means but it's something about dark abyss and how ethernal light shine on land.

    Hope I helped a litlle.

  • ...

    Give us the eternal light

    The Earth was in heaven

  • the first two lines are:

    Earth was empty upon,

    The making of hell

  • It has something to do with the bible I think because it sounds like a part of the Genesis

"terra autem erat inanis et vacua et tenebrae super faciem abyssi (erant) et spiritus Dei ferebatur super aquas"

    which means

"the earth however was void and empty and darkness was over the face of the deep and the spirit of God moved over the waters."

  • ugh I cant find his albums anywhere. But its just so good!

  • Try Amazon ^^

  • this song is a MASTERPIECE, can't stop listenning to it... The end choir gives me chills.

  • Suuper gemacht, passt ausgezeichnet zur Musik vom Meister!

  • great music, good video, well done.

  • i just bought this album... can't stop listening to it... its just breathtaking

  • Good work, I really like this album

  • excelent work

  • great work!

  • Oh and by the way i'm don alfonso ! some call me pedro but that is not so ! i'm donalfonso ! enjoy his music and feel lucky that you were alive to listen to it ! :)

  • Did you meet a sweet Senora in Barcelona? ;-)

  • Yes she was thumbs up mona! do you know her? :)

  • Nice to see mike using his talent again! this takes me back to ommadawn inspired days! please dont go back to the mundane singles ! maybe this will let people understand how talened a guy he is!! his albums used to mae me smile ! :) they were pure joy!

  • Very, very good!!!!

  • Great! I'll buy the album, that's for sure

  • wow! great

  • It´s Great!

  • This one in the playlist at work for about a week before it's release. Actually made my job enjoyable :D

  • Nice video. The complete album is incredible.

  • this track is so awesome! i am loving it!

In fact, the whole cd is a piece of a mind from a genius!

  • This is my favorite track from an otherwise great album. I wouldn't be surprised if Mike Oldfield himself made this animation - it's exactly the kind of stuff he likes to play with - besides music ;)

  • The last track on this albumn (track 14) is brilliant.

  • i bought the album yrsterday its wonderful

  • Would be awesome to hear this in some great movie..

  • As long as it does not deal with the Catholic church and forces of evil. ;)

  • ok, but why?

  • Music from Oldfield's first album "Tubular Bells" was used in the movie "The Exorcist" so now most people connect the opening theme of the album with the movie and say that it is "scary music". Just search YouTube for "The Exorcist theme"...

  • What track was used in the film (I am familiar with tubular bells)

  • Well "The Exorcist Theme" is the first minutes of "Tubular Bells part 1". It was played at least during the end credits. I think some other parts were played as well, but in total there was very little music during the film, if I remember correctly.

  • Hmm I vaguely remember that (I saw the film a while back). Thanks.

  • I agree, Amarok is my fav. album, but The Songs of Distant Earth spoke directly to me like the voice of God explaining what I should do in my life situation at the time. Oldfield's work transcends musical boundaries. Also The 'Music From The Spheres' hasn't been off my hi-fi since I got it last week - made me cry it was so beautiful.

  • Great stuff! I love MOTS and Mike. From a fellow cloth eared nincompoop who adores Amarok...

  • ''Cloth eared nincompoop''

    I smiled when I read that. =]

And yeah, Amarok is an absolutely fantastic (and completely underrated) album.

I never really liked any of Mike's more recent works, I personally think The Songs of Distant Earth was his last GREAT album.

I am liking what I've heard of this new album so far though.....

  • The Music is indeed worth waiting for, Release date march 17th...St Patricks Day ...This Video? is that Hans Claesson?

  • I'm sure Hans wouldn't have left the small mistakes there. ;)

  • would MGO?

  • I doubt. But I did. Too much trouble re-rendering. I just wanted to get the idea out of my head.

But 20 000 views isn't too bad (for free advertising of the album since last autumn).

Just a few days and I can remove the word "forthcoming" from the description. :)

  • I can count on one hand those that have let me hear this celestial symphony... Mike is obviously one of them. This new album sounds like a good soundtrack, it's not pompous and boring like many orchestral stuff. As always in Mike's works, I feel lots of positive energy and serenity in it, round and gentle... this album is breathing life...

  • this is a beautiful piece of music, thanks for posting, cool animation.

  • sounds great, im looking foreward to getting it. There are clips of the album on one of the web-sites of his music

  • This album is superb! I'm looking forward for the official CD!

  • it's very good!!!!

  • i think the vid is very good an i like the track. well done

  • I love Mike, but why is the guitar out of tune?

  • right, it's falling down a bit but I guess the goal was to follow the orchestra, or that's just another anti-piracy stuff...

    :)

  • Inspiration, genius, hardly last a lifetime, this is a universal law in art, but who knows !? I just hope Mike still finds pleasure in doing what he has always done. He has become a muse for so many people in the world, he deserves our everlasting respect and kind of admiration... I would feel a crap to criticize him after all that he has given me, but I don't want to become a fanatic as well...

  • Il Maetro è tornato!

  • Mike Oldfield is wonderful. He always hits something magical. Can't wait for CD.

  • I can't wait the CD! Amzing, touching music...

    Thanks Mike!

  • Pure magic B)-~

  • I need more than 5 stars...

  • very good!

  • imaginative animations.. and a magnificent album, can't wait to buy it.. it's the greatest thing mike did since tb trilogy

  • If this a taste of things to come, surely this a fanastic step back to mikes creativity.

in remembrance of the originality of tubular bells, ommadawn etc. He is taking a step upwards to possibly being a classical composer.

Mike enjoy as the public will love it..

  • I've been waiting for something this good from Oldfield for ages, funny how you don't lose the faith with him.

  • Hi,

I admire yr passion and yr ability to capture sounds generating feelings and put them in an artform.

Credit to you and Mike Oldfield, of course...

YOu got a soft heart!!! I love it!

    Keep it up!!!

  • Thanks for the nice comments. And yes, tubular net is a good source for information as they have both the official info and all the rumours and fan discussions etc.

I made the video in Asymetrix Web 3D. It's kind of "3D modelling for dummies". And T-Belle: It's nice to see you always so passionate about all Oldfieldian things. :) My tubular net username is actually in my YouTube channel icon.

  • CHECK OUT MY NEW PROFILE ICON, he he.

  • Nice... :)

  • Brilliant! Great animation, very proffessional. Inspired by great music.

  • Oh My Golly Gosh, I'm tongue tied, Mike is my Hero and you are pretty cool too for doing this.

What is your username on tubularnet? DID YOU DO THIS ANIMATION YOURSELF? THIS IS AWESOME!!
