@aaronchungrulez ...Malmsteen is good at music-writing, but only because he borrows so heavily from Baroque composers, specifically Bach. His playing, while yes, he can shred, isn't nearly as clean as Vai's. And if you ever listen to Malmsteen talk, he's *way* more arrogant than Vai is. Vai, like I said, is just... out there. With Vai, it's more like his body becomes an extension of the instrument he carries.
