  • At 1:01 it's Corky!!

  • You could never make this now: "This movie's not like Private Ryan!! That danged war wuz serious!!"

  • Great precursor to his later series Tales of the Gold Monkey. This reminds me of Red Tails. Cool stuff.

  • @1:28.08 it sure looks like ME-109's and Spit Fires?

  • If you watch in the original WWII footage you'll see the Corsairs come into the field at a 90 angle. the Brit's taught us that. We had quit carrier landings because of the long nose problems on the F-4's causing several loses. Brits figured out if they cut it at a 90 they could see right up to the last minute, putting our F-4's back on carrier flight status. Of course California, the East Coast, along with the shipping traffic and jet contrails are distracting.

  • TheUncledougger sir you do not understand air combat. And by the way the black sheep fly f4u corsairs. tatics win wars the flyings tiger flew P40's and they shot down alot of zerros. This show was fun and thats what it was for. If you want to watch the real black sheep there is a video on you tube thats true. the Flying tigers won because of team work and training.

Thezerro was fast and light but it was a flying gas tank and had no armor. a few hits and it was a flaming star.

  • A P-40 just could not and flat ass never could turn with or inside a Zero. I loved this TV show just to laugh at how hokey the combat scenes were. Top Gun was the hokiest movie, this was the hokiest TV show.

  • @TheUncleDougger You are right of course but the one thing the P-40 had going for it was it could take a beating. But I still enjoyed the show because many of the situations, although exhagerated some, were basically what really happened. I read Pappy's book and it makes it easier to understand this show more. The best thing about Top Gun was the star of the show, the F14.

  • Read Boyington's book "Baa Baa Blacksheep" It has a super good description of what it was like to be a prisoner of the Japanese.

  • go to bclionsroar for music and over 170 full lenght movies

  • I loved this series as a kid so thanks for posting the pilot. I do notice nowadays that the tracks for the machine guns et al tend to sound the same in films from that period.

  • Loved this show when I was a kid. Thanks for posting

  • Ah, this lovely film is just such complete BS, but it's still worth it for the Corsair scenes and Robert Conrad is, well, Robert Conrad.

  • @LordZontar

but, you have to admit some of the actual combat footage is pretty cool.

  • GOD BLESS THE USMC
