  • I'm the chick in the video. Look, it's not one of my most articulate moments, but to be fair, I was in the middle of a large demonstration and could barely hear the interviewer/myself speaking.

The message on this demo was "America needs jobs now," and I stand by that. The US is in the middle of an unemployment crisis, and our federal spending needs to reflect that. We have a crumbling infrastructure, and it makes good economic sense to invest in a national jobs program to repair it.

  • @iconoclashing This is, in essence, what I said in my commentary that I just posted. I hope we get a chance to talk about this in further detail next week.

  • @HonestDiscussioner Looking forward to it!

  • @iconoclashing Hello, Chick in the video. I completely agree that we need more jobs, but it's not the governments job to take care of that. In fact, it's the government who made it bad to begin with by sticking their hands and money into the private sector and creating so many rules, regulations, and taxes for business that unless we're talking massive corporation, no small / moderately sized business can truly survive. If they don't survive, then there are fewer job. GTFO of the private sector!

  • @OmicronIII

Er...no - it was the deregulation of the banks and letting them do what the fuck they wanted that caused the problems.

  • @geffel Actually, we're both right. The issues aren't generated from only one aspect, and the banks, as you mention, are simply another side of things that needs to be dealt with as well.

One the other hand, if you don't like the policies of this bank or that bank, you can make a choice to not do business with them. They didn't force you to put your money in their coffers, nor did they force you into borrowing money. They provided a service and youy took it. Wait, who's fault is it again?

  • LOL - what are you doing here? We need jobs! What should the government do to accomplish that? Uhhh...."create jobs..." and "funding for jobs..."

That's an adult, probably college educated person there....fucking idiot...

  • I had to watch that twice -- what a nitwit....

  • thanks for doing this

  • More Domestic jobs, China has too many of our jobs.

  • @rockstarcola100

I see what you are saying and I agree with it. The only thing I can say is that it was, with the help of the federal government that companies have outsource their labor with trade agreements and the like.

I am not saying the government should magically create jobs. But, what if there was some sort of regulation or something that mandated American companies use American labor. I know foreign labor is cheaper, but what if they had incentives like tax breaks or something?

  • @moksith

how do you give tax breaks to companies that pay almost zero tax, like GE, most of the oil companies, just about any huge corporation?

  • @geffel

    point taken.

  • Whoa cool. I didn't know that businesses can just create jobs... that's crazy. Oh the government helps them you say? Where do they get the money from? Oh is that right?

  • If you see a guy carrying a communist flag can you interview him please?

  • @CountHektor It's a bit too late for that, but if I go again I will keep a lookout.

  • I can't get behind this kind of behavior. The terms they use are far to vague to mean anything. Why don't they, instead of talking about "funding jobs" and establishing "benefits," organize around a way to create jobs and establish the benefits they want?

  • So let me get this straight, the government should spend our tax dollars to "fund jobs" and make it easier than it already is to "organize" another word for "conspire to artificially inflate wages" (which has the effect of reducing jobs and is why we just had to bail out GM). I'm guessing none of these nice folke have n MBA.

  • SEPARATION OF CORPORATION AND STATE!

  • I was at City Hall today and I saw them but I had no idea what it was about lol

  • @sarkerm2 They are still figuring it out.

  • "funding for jobs" LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SEPARATION OF CORPORATION AND STATE!

  • SEPARAPTION OF CORPORATION AND STATE!

  • I am curious if these protests will actually cause anything to happen, but I suppose it never hurts.... right? Either way, interesting interview.

  • Went for the blondes first, *e-high-five*

  • @ShallowBeThyGames Actually, this was the last interview I took.

  • thanks for the footage

  • @slytherinspy1960 No problem.

  • Hey HD, I heard there was racism going down at Occupy Phillie. Did you see anything?
