  • 2:23. VA LARGA!!!

  • This is one of my favorite songs played by Edmund Welles. To get this power and feeling out the bass clarinet it takes some doing. Impressive!!

  • I Play bass clarinet like a boss in my band....But they make me look silly! i cant even go that high!

  • this kind of stuff is y i like to play my bass clarinet

  • 3:45 - 4:25 : MOST EPIC SOLO ON BASS CLARINET EVER!!!!! (till he squeaked at the end, which may or may not have been intentional)

  • @TheKlarinettist Intentional, but I'm not sure why he put it in there either.

  • @TheKlarinettist Those are dual tones. he meant to do that haha. they sound really odd.

  • This is the definition of being able to play a instrument passionate :3

  • Holy shit they're impressive!

  • the guy to the laft has a nice angle to his bass clarinet neck. what bass clarinet is that? buffet?

  • Wow, Amazing!

I've played bass clarinet for 6 years and I was always sad to see that people generally didn't give much importance to this beautiful instrument. These guys are amazing!

  • This makes me happier than ever to have an extended-range bass clar. I love the low lows.

  • I am trying to find out where I can get on of these amazing Bass Clarinets. I also would like to discover a hard-rubber mouthpiece. I heard that RSR has a bass clarinet with low C and double register key. Please respond.

  • @TheMattandChris since ive posted my comment, ive had the experience of playing one of these. instruments, i could play low better than high. lol, im a saxophonist, not a bass clarinet player. lol

  • these guys inspire me not to suck.

  • i cant play that high because im a beginner but hopefully i can one day

  • Damn that was insane, the range of the guy to the left was crazy, I can hit around that high, but not all the time (my highest note usually is high F above the staff, can reach high C and octave above the C above the staff though), that guy is insane respect to him...

  • I'm majoring on bass clarinet for college :D I watch/listen to this every day

  • @BCl137 which college cuz i want to do the same?

  • i love you guys. i wish i had an extended bass clarinet i would just kill for one.

  • i wish 1st chair guy had a darker tone in the altissimo

  • i didnt know Will Farell played the bass clarinet???

  • @Zoro4rk IKR?!!! pretty good if you ask me

  • Wow....that was pretty awesome. I never even imagined a bass clarinet could sound like that. There were parts where the blend almost made it sound like a cello, it was kind of cool.

  • definitely not an instrument for chain smokers.

  • this is why the bass clarinet may in fact be more awesome than the tuba :O

  • Very beautiful and 3:48.. Holy crap.

  • I so wish I had the money to by a Selmer bass. That's $10,000. A friend of mine has one. I want one sooo bad!!

  • this is probably the best sounding instrument next to the baritone sax, I've played both and it's amazing!

  • cool

  • where did you guys get the music for this??? both the songs are very interesting I want to play them ^.^

  • People who bring young children to this type of thing need to be shot.

  • what's wrong with taking children!

  • I'll let you figure that one out.

  • @CaptDouchebag Right, because no parent should try to expose their children to culture and music. What a dumb-ass, a parent who wants to raise their child to appreciate music.

  • @debbiev918 When they're that young, they need to be exposed to music on a CD or something; not a live performance where they can possibly mess up the musicians.

  • I love the bass clarinet!!!!!!! It really is the best instrument in the world :) I sure hope that I can keep playing mine once I leave college....

  • aw! its so pretty...the first part....

this is why i want to play this instrument!

  • you should play it, its a beautiful instrument! im currently playing the alto and bass clarinet and i love them both!

  • @keyboardwill its a fun instrument to play. you just have to be able to play high notes as well as very low notes. I play it both in marching and concert season, and i have had to learn how to play quite high as well as lower than i normally go

  • I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!!

  • such an amazing instrument. i just switched to it from regular b flat clarinet today and its so much better than the reguar clarinet. I love it as much as my cello and guitar. its got such a sad deep tone and a great range of notes. i wish i had $ for private lessons.

  • i freakin' love the bass clarinet!

  • I did not know that bass clarinets can go that high :) Cool!

  • believe it or not, basses can go just as high as the regular ones

  • they do i can hit the high g that a clarinet hits

  • ya but it's in a lower octave

  • no the same note

  • no if a clarinet play's a open g and a bass clarinet plays an open g you can tell the bass is lower

  • i understand that i play both im saying i can hit in acctual clarinet range you can check my vid

  • Because it is lower. The bass clarinet sounds one octave (and one whole step down, as it is a Bb instrument) than is written on the page.

  • @flyboy8492 or if you're me you can go higher XD

  • 4:30 best song ever.... freakin sick. gets stuck in my head. wish i had 3 other guys i could play it with. love the instrument. gorgeous.

  • great but that note clashes !

  • Great!!!

    These guys are awsome!!!

    Salutes from Brazil

  • I've played bass clarinet for years, and all i can say when i watch this is, WHY CANT I PLAY THAT GOOD!

  • niiccee ive been playing for 2 years im in 7th grade... my teacher thinks i should move up to a 3 reed but whenever i try going past high D i sqeak =p

  • Definitely go up to a 3 reed, it'll greatly improve your sound. Work on breathing exercizes and air support and getting up above those higher notes should be no problem.

  • any reed below a 3 is not good when it comes to the bass clarinet. maybe its just the horn itself.

  • great!

  • ive been doing bass for a while ive become quite good at really high notes

  • WOW... That is the most amazing thing I have ever seen!! Crazy awesome! I have yet to get that high up, but I'm working on it. Well, I was... then I graduated and had to leave *my* bass behind... :( I have to get my own now, haha. I would love to be in a bass clarinet quartet like this. WOW.

  • DAMMM those r hi notes i just started playing bass cl. like 4 days ago i can beraly play b (the first note using the register key, not b flat b natural)

  • Did anyone mention that they wrote these themselves?

    Shut the fuck up.

  • so good.

  • is there sheet music for this?

  • This sounds amazing.

    Nice tone!

  • It would be nive to be in a Bass Clarinet Quartet. From one Bass Clarinetist to another YOu guys are great!

  • Im pretty sure they all have Low Cs

  • controllare l'intonazione, per il resto vada....

  • id kill for the c extention...how much can you shell out for one of those?

  • C extension? Jeez, like an easy $9,000. LOL. I want one, too!

  • @theblueTACO id just kill for a double register key X_X

  • those high notes are awesome!I can play to the A above the staff without squeaking but anything higher I have to slur up to.but starting right on the high notes above A..PSH! I can forget it. does that guy with the long hair have the C extension? That guy is so AMAZING!!!!!

  • Awesome!

  • Oh god, bass clarinet awesomeness. I love it when I can see my own instrument played at such an amazing level

  • From the stand point of a Bass Clarinetist . . . NIFTY

  • I too also play the Bass Clarinet, that is my pride and joy and man. I've never actually heard a bass clarinet quartet that sounded this good. Where I come from, we the low reeds (especially BCls) are a rare breed and are hard to come by. Man, such talent! I wish my brother would use his... awesome playing. Encore!

  • amazing...

  • you sure about that?

  • Love it!!!! and the baby too...! Wonderful sounds and ideas.

  • i play the bass clarinet and omg you guys it took me for eva to get those high notes you guys a really cool 10 out of 10.:)

  • dear god! how the hack can you play those awesome high notes on bass? I play bass and to me, that's astounding!

  • never say never XD

These guys are totally awesome! I met them at the ICA festival this year at Kansas City, MO.
