Wow, I've been speaking Korean my entire life but I never knew the letters had so much connection with how its spoken. Thank you for helping me realise that ^^ btw you probably could have done a much better job if you didn't rush this video.
Thanks so much. I am Korean but didn't learn the connection between the shape of the mouth and the letters. Nor did I know about the direction of the sound for the vowels. Thanks for teaching a Korean about her alphabet.
I am Korean and you are not very adequate or efficient enough to teach Korean. It is not a language you pick up easily, it takes a long time to master the language.
@inuboi93 For me korean alphabet is easy to write but hard to memorize becoz of its different pronounciation. Japanese alphabet is hard to write but easy to memorize becoz its just like ur adding vowels in the end of the consonant Ex. Ba bi be bu bo,ka ke ki ko ku easy right? It's like the phil. alphabet(abakada) I'm pilipino.. ^_^ Just study hard... :)
@inuboi93 ... oooh... that's a hard question. I think both are harder than Chinese for sure. Maybe Japanese considering the multiple types of readings? I found both to be pretty hard.
@Magus9653 There are multiple types of readings Umdok (音讀) and Hundok (訓讀) in Korea and the reason why Japanese have it as well is that Japanese writing system came from Korea.
@inuboi93 Korean writing is easier, Hangul is the only one you should remember. But Japanese writing is harder because you should remember not only Hiragana and Katakana but even Chinese characters in order to read or writing Japanese language. On the other hand, it's said that Korean pronunciation is relatively harder than Japanese.
Mike, this is absolutely brilliant! I guess I could call this my first encounter with a featural alphabet. Fascinating. This has got to be one of the coolest writing systems in the world.
ok Im confused, you say to point your tongue towards the roof of your mouth when sounding ㄴ I was told to put my tongue between my teeth slightly to say ㄴ the same with ㄷ, ㄸ and ㅌ?
WAU! this helped me better understand significance of each letter and it's sound!

Double combined vowel,
과 = ㄱㅗㅏ (g + o + a = goa, Pronounce this quickly at once , then almost 'Gwa' sound.
And adding a consonant at bottom end.
곽 = ㄱㅗㅏㄱ= GOAG = GWAG
앙 ( o = This is only a default null consonant sound which is kinda vowel and its role is just holding at left top consonant position.)
아 = ah =ㅏ(vowel) = ah , both are same sound.
if o is placed bottom end. it becomes 'ng' sound.
앙 = 'ahng

Korean is very easy to start with (alphabet is a very straightforward system, a matrix), but hard to really master (hanja, and some grammar)

Korean vowels represent philosophy of the Asia.
All vowels are combined this three elements.
ㆍ (universe) ㅡ (earth) l (human)
they're combined, and represent the direction of sound, feeling, etc.....
i'd like to recommend somebody a German thesis about the Korean alphabet.
it was really good.

In Thai: "a" is to the right of the consonant, "u" is under the consonant. Like Korean!
