@supersesa I have had a lot of overheating. My fans started to run full speed even on a cold boot. I have had my motherboard replaced due to overheating and on a separate occasion, I had to have my screen replaced because the LCD went bad (back lighting was OK because the whole screen was white). My warranty is up in April 2012 and the next time it fails will be my next laptop purchase.
@supersesa I have the same model with i7 740. Had so many problems with it. First, usb/esata port went bad. Next, the overheating problem like you. Finally, it won't come out of hibernation or sleep. Dell couldn't figure out how to fix it after so many tries and finally decided to send me the new 14z as replacement since I am still under warranty with my extended warranty I bought. So glad I they are replacing it as I could not stand it and really wanted to replace it.
@jlah03 1366x768 is the highest resolution. Remember also that the version that I bought uses a dedicated video card and not the on-board video card. The resolution might be different with different video options. I have the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5450.
Is your power plug loose and wobbly when it's plugged in? I have the dell studio 15 and it is, some of the plastic where the light is on even broke off.
@tpthatsme i am considering buying this laptop !!! can u tell me how the 6 cell battery is doing ??? i was wondering if i should go for 6 cell vs 9 cell ??
@Sylverstriker I paid $1278 (not including the SSD from newegg). I had a few upgrades like Bluetooth, wireless N with WiMAX, and the back-lit keyboard. The advertised RAM is 1066MHz, but my benchmarking said it was 1333MHz!!
The reason only one of the vents suck in the tissue paper is because that's where the fan is. The other vents are just to prevent those components from being completely enclosed.
Did u had overheating problems?
I have the same laptop, here.
I have a lot of automatic restarts due overheating.

Thanks

@jlah03 The eject key will work again once you install the Dell drivers. I think it was called the Dell QuickSet.

i also have a question. how much did you buy the laptop for? It's on dell's site for 999, but it says only for a limited time.

@tpthatsme I believe it is 1333MHz because it is a Core i7. Core i5's have 1066MHz.
