How many days they struggled and presented a tune and when you sing a song with other tune... How can you give credits to that original music director?
Hariharan and Shankar are damn best in the world but still as a mark of respect to old composition you need to sing it with same tune.
Hari himself told that old songs have rich composition and he did not have an opportunity to work with legends like MSV...so he can sing that song with his silk voice.
If hariharan sir see this post, he will defo agree with my point and also many old people are setting as audiences and they will feel bad about them.
Why can't I just stand this clown of a singer called shankar mahadevan...? Have I lost it or what? These people should just stick to what they are good at...which is gazals. They shouldn't attempt movie songs especially classics.

These 2 have brilliant voices, Hariharan is incomparable and Shankar is a really good singer as well, I have read some comments, even those who mentioned that amateur singers sang better than these two, what can i say, exc those who post comments like that know very little about music. It is how they sing it, every sylable and swara from these two are perfect, they hit the notes perfectly, ething falls into place, amateurs do not come close
Vigneswaran - every syllable? The first word of the song itself is wrong. It is pon ondru kandEn (as in I saw Gold) whereas Shankar is singing it as poN ondru (pON is the colloquial for girl) which doesn't make sense considering that the next line is peN angu illai. Nobody becomes a lesser fan for admitting that both of them sucked in this song in the name of improvisation. Only Tamilians accept bad Tamil pronunciation. You cannot get away with these kind of mistakes in most other languages.
it is a shame that a couple of amateur singers in a contest sang this song so much better than these 2 great singers,please check out Hari & Prasanna in the super singer 2008 sainging this very song so much better
What a nice composition.... I love the raaga 'Brindavana Saranga'.. I dont' know how many times I have seen this video.....The original sounds better... But with all the new orchestrations, I would say this one would give a better impact to the listeners...

Very well sung by both singers. It wasn't without it's flaws but both of them sang it beautifully! It looked like Shankar was holding back and letting "Hari Anna" take the lead.

ah...even the shruti is not maintained. Shankar has faulted even with the lyrics, (pen ondru kanden pen angu illai!). hariharan seem to have lost the track at some point. I have a lot of respect for professional singers but this was not a quality display!
