  • two of my favourite logos in the same video -- Merv Griffin Enterprises and the 1989 KingWorld :)

  • Merv Griffin - you will be remembered when you first aired the pilot for Crosswords.

  • [Updated]

This is [Charlie O'Donnell] speaking. Sony Pictures Television produces..."Wheel of Fortune." Distributed by CBS Television Distribution.

  • Merv Griffin Defunct at 2007

  • NICE! I finally found a 1993-1994 version of the outro with the 89-92 theme song being used nice.

  • R I P charlie odonnell america will forever miss your distinctive voice 1932-2010

  • Great TV Biography of Merv on CNBC Thursday at 9p - called CNBC TITANS - talks about his career and accomplishments. 12/2 - They interviewed his son.

  • What date was this video recorded? And what TV station this recorded?

  • And now we've lost Charlie. 1932-2010 RIP :(

  • I love this MGE Logo

  • If Merv Griffin Enterprises had still been around for 2 or 3 more years after 1994, then I might remember this logo better.

  • DownsA530, please upload Wheel Of Fortune: South America 1997 episode.

  • The Merv Griffin logo and the KingWorld logo were the ones I grew up with in the 90's.

  • i like this merv griffin enterprises logo lol

  • Is that MGE logo real

  • Yes, it is. It was used from April 1993 to July 1994.

  • "Wheel of Fortune" clearly likes to use drumrolls more than "Jeopardy!" They kept using it for 2 more years after this.

  • sailorclose, please upload Wheel Of Fortune: October 6, 1993?

  • The Merv Griffin logo looks like TriStar.

  • SPE uses the same background for the TriStar and Columbia logos as well.

  • I wonder if the dark variant of the MGE logo really appeared on WOF?

  • I mean, has a dark variant of MGE really existed?

  • You mean with the black background instead of yellow? Then yes it has. From 1990 to 1993, then they changed it to this.

  • No, no. I wasn't talking about the usual 1984 MGE logo (w/ or w/o any byline) on a black background. I mean this one. I've already seen other 1993 MGE logos with different gold color variants.

  • I've never seen any.

  • I know I mentioned this earlier, but instead of doing this, what if "Wheel" made their outro more like Jeopardy!'s in the 1992-1993 season, such as:

Merv Griffin Enterprises logo, KingWorld logo, title card with copyright at the bottom in that order? That's what Jeopardy! did from 1984 to 1992. Just leave Jeopardy!'s outro alone and make Wheel's more like Jeopardy!'s.

Charlie's closing spiel could just stay the same.

  • This has to be from season 11 (93-94) because it has the theme from seasons 7-9 (89-92)

  • Your MGE1992KW1989 video is taken from

    "JEOPARDY01191993: The $1 Win".

What Wheel Of Fortune episode is this taken from?

  • the wheel of fortune drumroll at first sounded like the 1978 telepictures logo and disturb me in my sleep at age 11

  • In Loving Memory of Merv Griffin.

  • That's the 1989-1992 theme, was this from a roadshow episode from 1993?

  • Yep. I remember.

  • Comment removed

  • What if "Wheel of Fortune" had a Jeopardy!-like outro with the Merv Griffin Enterprises logo, then the KingWorld logo and the title card and copyright screen?

    They never did that.

  • I remember during the 1992-1993 season (which I assume this here is from), Charlie actually introduced himself at the end of the show. He'd say "This is Charlie O'Donnell speaking..." and then go onto say "Merv Griffin Enterprises produces... (drumroll/copyright screen) "Wheel of Fortune". Distributed by King World."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember him actually doing that.

  • Charlie O'Donnell says "Merv Griffin Enterprises produces...(drumroll/copyright screen) "Wheel of Fortune." Distributed by King World."

He said it during both Season 10-11 on WOF.

  • Well, I knew that. But didn't he ever introduce himself?

  • The "This is Charlie O'Donnell speaking" is from Season 13 (1995-1996). How it goes:

"This is Charlie O' Donnell speaking. Wheel Of Fortune was created by Merv Griffin (said during copyright card and drumroll). Produced by Columbia/Tri-Star Television. Distributed by King World."

  • Really? I remember his closing announcement that season going like this:

"Created by Merv Griffin. (over copyright screen and drumroll) "Wheel of Fortune" is produced by... (after drumroll finishes) Columbia Tristar Television. Distributed by KingWorld."

  • That was during the second half of Season 12 (1994-1995).

  • I guess someone's going to have to upload an episode from the 1995-96 season for me to know.

  • I believe bluelobster has one..check his page.

  • He did upload the credits of a WoF episode from the 1995-96 season. However, it was cut off before it showed the Columbia-TriStar Television & KingWorld logos.

  • Yeah, but in that episode Charlie's closing goes like this:

Created by Merv Griffin. (drumroll/copyright screen) "Wheel of Fortune" is produced by Columbia/Tristar Television. Distributed by KingWorld.

  • O'Donnell never said his name on the closing. Gilbert did.

  • He did in the 1995-1996 season. His closing went:

This is Charlie O'Donnell speaking. (drumroll/copyright screen) "Wheel of Fortune" was created by Merv Griffin. Produced by Columbia Tri-Star Television. Distributed by King World."

  • And they didn't extract "Wheel of Fortune" was created by Merv Griffin." from his closing announcement and use that from 1996 onward. How come?

They did it with Johnny on "Jeopardy!", but not with Charlie.

  • No he didn't. And i remember it exactly.

    Charlie O'Donnell:

"Created by Merv Griffin. "Wheel of Fortune" is produced by, Columbia TriStar Television! Distributed by King World!

    Johnny Gilbert:

"This is Johnny Gilbert speaking. "Jeopardy!" was created by Merv Griffin. Produced by Columbia TriStar Television. Distributed by King World".

That's from the 1995-1996 season. So you were wrong.

  • No, the closings you have are from the 1994-1995 season. Once again..the 1995-1996 closing went like this (just ask anybody else who's heard this one):

"This is Charlie O'Donnell speaking. (drumroll/copyright screen) "Wheel of Fortune" was created by Merv Griffin. Produced by Columbia Tri-Star Television. Distributed by King World."

  • Here's the 1994-1995 closings:

Charlie O: "Wheeeel of Fortune"! is produced by.. Columbia TriStar Television! Distributed by King World!

Johnny G: This is Johnny Gilbert speaking. "Jeopardy!" is a production of Columbia TriStar Television, Distributed by King World.

  • now that shit scared the fuck outta me lol

  • i always wounder wat kinda animal is on the Merv Griffin logo lol, it look cool

  • It's....a griffin. A mythical creature with the head and wings of an eagle, and the body of a lion. Not just namesake...

  • It doesn't look very griffin like here.

  • I wish they would keep the old logos around. That's just me. I guess all good things come to an end. Anyways

    R.I.P. Merv Griffin

    R.I.P. Roger King

  • oh, so thats what explains why i've been seeing that CBS TV Distrib. logo and the end of Wheel over 500,000 times.

  • sailorclose, Can you please post the whole epsiode?

  • R.I.P. Merv Griffin (1925-2007)!

  • sailorclose, If you can find it, can you please upload the Merv Griffin Enterprises

(1993)/KingWorld (1989) logos, but from the end credits of "Jeopardy!"?; Thanks.

  • taken from:the secrets of ekkkkkk

  • Charlie O'Donnell's voice sounds like my father.

  • why did they pull this ending off the air this ending kicks a**

  • out of all the wheel of fortune closings i remember this one as a toddler when i would watch it with my grandparents every night this ending rocks

  • Do you have the full episode of this one?

  • This is one of my favriote game shows to watch along with jeporady i have been watching them since 1990 the year i was born on a scale of 1 to about 80 1 being the best 80 being the worst i would rank wheel of fourtune number 1 and jeporady 2 i think that is enough said about that.

  • Now Sony Pictures Television and CBS/Paramount Television Distribution

  • That's CBS Television Distribution

  • You mean Sony Pictures Television and CBS Television Distribution.

  • Of all the Merv Griffin Enterprises logos, this one was the shortest lived. It only lasted from 1993-1995.

  • You mean 1992-1995, but CTT took over in 1994.

  • Right, CTT took over in 1994, and I meant to say 1992-1995.

  • Update: The MGE logo was from April 1993-July 1994.

  • when I was a kid that fucking Merv Griffin Enterprises logo used to scare the friggen shit out of me and I dont know why, that eagle lookin thing, sometime around 1989-1994.. even seeing it today as an adult is sort of creapy

no disrespect to Merv Griffin of course R.I.P

  • Merv Griffen Enterprises was obviously a sister to Columbia Television, and Tri-Star Television. Now, shows made by one of these three enterprises have the same logo: Sony Pictures

  • Don't worry, fliburt, I will promise not to spam bryngrl4chatz.

  • The 1989-1992 WOF theme was playing from midway through Season 10 and all of Season 11, and it plays for the closing theme, except for road shows, cause the closing theme for the road ahows is 1992-1994 theme, instead of 1989-1992 theme.

  • You all might be interested to know that "Califon Productions" refers to a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, where Merv Griffin once owned a farm -- and that's why he named the production company what he did. To this day, Wheel of Fortune officially does business as "Califon Productions, Inc."

Jeopardy! and The Price is Right, however, have more intuitive "doing business as" names, however: "Jeopardy Productions, Inc." and "The Price is Right Productions, Inc."

  • Price Proudctions, not The Price is Right Productions

  • Well, you're half right -- it *used to be* just "Price Productions." No longer.

  • Stop spamming bryngrl4chatz or you will be suspended for good!!!

    R. I. P. Merv Griffin, we will miss you all.

  • bryngrl4chatz is gone now.

  • But, fliburt50, it's a good thing bryngrl4chatz is gone now. So I guess NO SPAMMING HER!

  • The background in the Merv Griffin Enterprises logo is used on the Columbia Pictures Television logo from 1992 to 2001.

  • Can anybody try the MGE 1993 and KingWorld 1989 logo from the end credits of "Jeopardy!"?

  • Yeah, that brings back memories. This may sound weird but I always love ending credit logos such as KingWorld and Merv Griffin Enterprises.

    God rest you, Merv.

  • This is a special tribute to Merv Griffin.

Merv Griffin Enterprises produces.....Wheel of Fortune.

  • Distributed by KingWorld.

  • Merv Griffin, may god be with you. (1925-2007)

  • Merv Griffin died today. RIP, Merv :'(.

  • Always remember that one!

  • Can you please upload this episode of WOF.

  • 1993. The same year Casey's Playhouse released on VHS. (Casey's Playhouse is an educational exercise video starring Casey the bunny who hates to exercise.)

  • Uhm... ok??????

  • The bird is on the steps

  • I'm still waiting for the same MGE 1993 logo from the end credits of "Jeopardy!"

  • Can you upload this WOF episode and the closing credits? I like the 1989-1992 theme as the closing theme for WOF.

  • Merv Griffin Enterprises did a parody of the Columbia logo. xD

  • Heart, it's not a parody. It's owend by Sony, rember.

  • sailorclose, can you do the same logo, but from the end credits of Jeopardy!?

  • just let you know joecool85 uploded this befor it was deleted now he's on dailymotion, zippyvideos,&ning

  • And the ending theme here was the 1989-1992 WOF theme. (The 1992-1994 theme was used during both Seasons 10 and 11, but starting in 1993, the closing theme would be the 1989-1992 theme).

  • Actually, I remember my family having a tape with the tail end of a Thanksgiving 1994 episodes of WOF, and they used the 1992-1994 theme at for the closing credits. Would anybody happen to have any clips from the 1992-1994 seasons?

  • I remember this pretty well from the 1992-1993 season. Both "Jeopardy!" and "Wheel Of Fortune" ended their shows this way then. I have to ask: Why the drumroll?

  • I remember that so well! The Griffin, the drumroll, and the King World fanfare!

  • This logo was also taken from the end credits of "Jeopardy!" and also appeared at the end of a "Late Show With David Letterman" episode when Merv Griffin was one of the guests.

  • Can you upload the Wheel of Fortune closing with the Columbia TriStar Television logo?

  • Don't worry whammy850, you can watch, don't worry it doesn't have violence in it, go ahead try it.

  • Can you try this (the end credits with King World & Merv Griffin Enterprises) with Jeopardy!?

  • I LOVE WHEEL OF FORTUNE!

  • Seconded! Well.. I used to. It sucks now.
