@CosmicWire Is that a Thousend Oaks solar filter you're using on a Orion 8 inch Dobsonian with a focal length of 1200mm for watching the Sun? Or what have you?
Greatings from th Netherlands/Holland maybe you heard of it before I do not know anyways now you do.
You know Eddie and Alex Van Halen originated form there and moved over... than made a few records with crazy old Roth. Cannot wait for their new album coming out sooner or later...
Across the Atlantic between the U.K/G.B. and Germany.
yea - what's up with this precipitation? "I remember back in the Winter of aught 10, we was snowed in fer weeks. Ol' Pappy had to use his 6 in. reflector to melt snow for us'ins to get a drink."
It looks like we're both using a Nikon Coolpix to record video. I keep having a problem with my audio getting out of sync with the video. Are you having the same problem?
Wow, Danny. I never really, and I mean really knew what the sun or stars actually look like. And I also know nothing about astronomy but you sure are drawing me in. Thank you for the views, and please keep doing more.
Beautiful! We have such a lovely little star. I don't have a solar filter, though I wish I did. I'm just glad Solar Cycle 24 is finally starting to get some action going. Sun's been a bit boring lately...if one can ever really call a star boring. lol Thanks for this, Danny!
Yeah, Cycle 24 has left me with some hard days on the boardwalk. It's hard to get people to understand they are seeing the whole sun in the image, Sunspots somehow seem to make that more apparent.
You could possibly make an aiming device, or like ironsights on a rifle, so when you look at the shadow, the front and rear sights must be aligned.
Cheers

We have the same scope and after watching this video I want a solar filter!
Just wondering what brand you're using, and how you like its performance.

I ordered my filter off Orion's website. The one they sell for our scope. It is performing just fine in my opinion. Thanks for watching!

I'm in Canada and shipping costs are ridiculous. I'll probably have to get another brands compatible filter.

I do have a stuck pixel that is pissing me off though.

I found out what the problem was on mine. Windows Movie Maker was fricking up the audio when I rendered the file from AVI to WMV.

I've always wondered what the sun would look like through a telescope. Now I know! Good work, Danny!
