this is semi-based on the comic book. in one issue spiderman was losing his powers and doc ock was kidnapping mary jane (or someone, i'm not familiar with names) and peter came out as spider man but only had half strength. he punched doc ock and it didn't hurt him so doc ock unmasked spiderman and said it wasn't him because spiderman's punches hurt.

In these episode Peter Parker lose his power, but that didn't keep him from putting on the mask to stop these baddies. When spider-man fight them, he fought them without any power, that's why they assume he wasn't spider-man.

@Barca0Liverpool I think Spectacular was written far better personally though I prefer this show's animation style a bit more( even if it is a bit dated by today's standards though there are shows out RIGHT now that look worse). As far as maturity goes, I'd have to say Spectacular still wins in that regard. It never really stooped to some of the really absurd and goofy stories that this show did. Not that I disliked this show, far from it, I just don't think it's as good as Spectacular was.

Here Spidey lost his powers so dock ock notices a guy running around, not sticking to walls or jumping around or using his webbing (cuz he can't hold on to it), then you might notice that knocking him around is too easy compared to last time.
