This mix is fantastic. I love Animal Collective and the original version of this song, but I must say that I enjoy this version even better than the original. I'm going to have to check out some more of Dam Funks work now. Thanks a ton for posting this, TheDirtyBass!
This song would be absolutely perfect, better than the original, and the original was fucking life fulfilling, if only the snare were at least half as loud as it is.
don't hate me for it, but i like this version more than the original. mostly because i heard this version first. oddly, i dislike most other remixes of AC songs.
Yeah my only complaint is the snare...makes it hurt my ears when i turn up my headphones. Otherwise, this is sick. Especially that effect he does at the chorus, makes me want to go live in Miami and do some coke or somthing lol
do any of you guys actually know who dam funk is, or the type of music he is pioneering? This man is arguably the sole reason for a resurgence in modern soul and boogie in the US. do your homework or go listen to some dickless indie rock
@mrsaganscosmos agreed. and to call animal collective indie rock is a bullshit insult. animal collective beats the shit out of this tbh and for sure can't be categorized under fuckin "indie" lol. this is meh though. better than most attempts at animal collective remixes

not feeling it at all
snare is mixed way too high, and sounds a bit crappy
bass and synth sounds feel very cheesy and production feels some old 80's song, which if thats what you were going for then good job, but sorry i just can't really get into this one

This is awful. There's no way any of AC sounds or loops sound good out of the context they built them into. This is really terrible. Like it should be on a GTA: Castro Street soundtrack.
I like both versions. Also, Animal Collective pursued Dam-Funk in the first place wanting to work with him. One of the guys from Collective actually told Dam-Funk he has this remix on repeat in his iPod. If they think it's good enough, then nothing else matters as far the Animal Collective world is concerned.
This remix seems to sap the energy from the original rather than augment or compliment it. As much as they're lyrics can be repetitive, they build on themselves usually and the music coaxes everything along by avoiding stagnation. This mix goes the opposite way with the beat that never really develops or changes.. which is ballsy, but I don't think it really brings much to the table.
@drongovids unless the point was to make a sugar smoothie from a field of ripe sound, then yes you are correct, I have missed the point of this remix.
meh

Another great work by Dâm-Funk.
I'm glad Dame finally made it, I first heard him back in 2001 when he produced Tracks for Gangsta Rapper MC Eiht.

This would be actually pretty good without the loud snare drowning everything else.

@remosley apparently dam funk thought fondly enough of this dickless indie rock to make a remix of it. respect the original. cool remix btw
