Washington needs to re focus off the internet to take money from the rich and give to all who don't make it in the rich life everyone should be rich aren't you tired of watching the rich we are human and without the Army and authority they are rich old young rich wimps with a suit they are protected by male hunks of meat like the SS Army in the 30's and 40's in Germany history is repeating themselves USA is always paranoid that they need to control the world for with their endless insecurities.
you tube will never go down unless you want to see some POWER damage which is on it's way if Washington D.C. keeps this continuous making more laws and technology things to interfere with American freedom. They seem to forgotten the word. They invented vcr's dvd burners and video recording for what to film your grandma
A few weeks after this show in North Carolina they had what was billed as "The Charlotte Jam". Same bands. ELP's finale was 3rd impression which ended with an explosion. Those warm summer nights!!!
Guys, I dont want to mix myself with US business. But time is coming you raise from your chairs, and something. Because your "land of the free" is becoming "The land of the Fascists".
great upload! Too bad the record labels are run by douchebags who can't see the fact that youtube flash vids are nothing more or less than FREE ADVERTISING!!!!
Sooner or later, I'd be forced to remove this video and a few more from my channel if I don't want to see it cancelled.
Hope to see UMG and all those crap corporations in jail for their arrogance, prepotency, attempt to domain on public authorities and States, misappropriation of public and private channels and billing SOPA and PIPA against a new form of entertainment based on Internet.
Some rumours about FBI trying to blockout YouTube, after Megaupload closure, makes me think to inform you about saving all existing videos in your own hard disks for your own pleasure, just in case to be true. I hope it's all a fake story to scare us, but... in any case, it's better to get them before something worse happens. Spread the word around all channels.
What a sensation on the music scene these guys were. ..Original, talented, and then there's Carl Palmer..Its all been said about him so there isn't anything I can add except to say FUKKIN SPECTACULAR. If any one has a better word lets see it.
This, the CA Jam was orig broadcast by abc tv on a show called IN CONCERT over four week-ends (friday nights) The concert was in a 16 hour period on a hot August CA day in 11974 at the former Ontario Moter Speedway
This show was aired by the ABC Televison in the United States in 1974 on it's In Concert Program that was broadcast on Friday nights. I remember this and Black Sabbath being aired on the network. Also In Concert had Grand Funk Railroad and KISS on the show. It was good show that was ahead of it time and ABC decided to end in 1975, The 3 seasons the show was broadcasted are classics.
I was there to see this!!! I will never, ever forget that incredible night in the middle of what was once California Motor Speedway. What was disapointing was ABC taped and broadcast this later and screwed it up bigtime. But this was the national show/tour that really made ELP big. And thats from the group--not me. And BTW, who can play the piano like this? And they cut out the friggin spin Keith did on the piano. He was lifted up and spun. Wow!
@Tessmage Oh no...prog rock X punk rock talk again...
For me, this kind of talk, in the 2000s, is dated. I like both styles, and i will not dislike Dead Kennerdys or Ramones because i like Yes or ELP, or vice versa.
man oh man...this makes me cry-this concert was one of the most beautiful spectacles of my entire life as a young man and aspiring musician...i still remember this concert-and we only got 1/2 of it on tv there was so much more behind the scenes stuff and music...so much good music so many top bands so sweet and fun ...it was just amazing..just amazing...bless the person who put this up
They had toured the hell out of this thing in 1973 and all 3 were firmly planted in a state of perfection that was both sensational and spectacular.. Carl was a machine of precision timing and execution that redefined the word amazing. That's no exaggeration. All that and then you suddenly become very aware of the fact that this is just a trio. ..There isn't a single thing out there today that can come close to touching this.
@scubatarkus I don't think there is another version out there. But I could be wrong. ABC had sole broadcast rights to this. Perhaps ask if they would be willing to sell a copy of unedited version. It could'nt hurt. If you have an attorney, spend a few bucks and ask if they can write letter on your behalf to ABC.
@zer00g33k This was broadcast LONG before there was anything like affordable home video recording-or multichannel hifi television sound. I'd love to know where it came from and who recorded it. Back then I worked nights in a restauraunt after junior high school and I ran 15 blocks home covered in kitchen muck just to see THIS particular CalJam. ELP!! I watched it on our BW 1952 RCA console TV, and recorded the audio on a cheapo Realistic portable cassette player. Good old, bad old days :-)
I was at this concert. I still have an extra ticket (#017630) that I found in a pile of stuff about a year ago. I wish I had brought my camera to this one, cuz we worked our way to about the 20th row from the stage. You can have a look at some of my rock photos by Googling "cacheagency" Once you link to the site, click on Photographers and Collections. Then click on Jeff Allen. You can see over 350 rock photographs from 1968-72 I shot.
when I saw this concert back in 74 on ABC, I did not realize how much of an impact it would have on my life,Because of this concert I decided to become a drummer and later a keyboard player.Thank you so much for this upload,Its good to know and be a part of musical history. E.L.P was and is one of the greatest prog-rock bands in music history period....
I wish I could've been there. I was 12, but I remember we had everyone over and hooked up several huge speakers to the tv - taped it at least on cassette, too. :)

I'm not sure they used a smoke machine for that. I think the music itself made the smoke and fireworks happen.

Music like this was directly responsible for the inception of the Ramones.
Ramones fans will probably know what I mean by that... and hopefully smile.
