True but sometimes it helps to touch the platter. For the beginners it's a good teaching method. Until they train their ears a bit they can try using the pitch only method. I try not to touch the platter as much any more but I still see the best DJ's touch the platter every now and then.
just think about it when u speed up the record it will be at the right speed but the beats aren't lined up so u gotta copensate to get the beats locked....
How do you even get a record anyway? I need to make a mix for my dog to have a song (my dog is a BAD dog.) Something like The Mean Kitty Song by Mr. Safety, but using a turntable set instead of a music mixer.
dude, that is absolutly the best way i've ever seen that demonstrated.... i try to show that same method, and have even done it that way...people still don't get it. yeah auto bpm is cheating, but when you're on tha fly.... brotha can't wreck no train! i have tech's so no ttx magic here.
best to learn to beatmatch on real decks before you get involved with virtual decks because once you've learned how to do it, it's like riding a bike - you never forget it. If you get used to doing it in a lazy way (like the auto feature in Traktor) then what happens when you get put in front of real decks at a gig?
no problems to touch the plater guys, just be gentle, but mostly try with just pitch.

will u tell me how the hell touching the record is worse in any way? as long as when u mix it's beatmatched i wasnt aware there is any difference ??
smisten 3 years ago
it doesn't matter. personal preference. Whichever way works best for you and gives the cleanest mix in the end is what you should do

True Im using torq but wit a real mixer and technics 1200's perfect combo

a good dj never touches the platter.
just use the pitch. its harder but more effective by far.

It's a lot easier to just use pitch control when you have more torque than the technics

Just use the pitch control only, touching the platter and label defeats the purpose.
