i installed it yesterday, and it looks descent, since i switched from fedora 15 gnome 3 environment.. but i must say also its unstable, it crashed several times on updated system, and i think on kde crash, and not the OS itself, kubuntu seems to work fine. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem as i ?
@quidsup No worries, I am now on 11.10 and the only thing I've noticed so far is Muon package manager and Muon software center and next to the kickoff button there's a show activity manager.. I actually decided to give Kopete messenger a shot instead of just installing and using pidgin.. and I'm really impressed with it, it's fantastic.
Also, I noticed the use of OpenGL 2 shaders has been added.
The beta 2 is very solid and stable so far and I've had it running for roughly 14 hours now.

I've downloaded Kubuntu 11.04 beta 1. I'll let it download updates during the install, that usually works out ok. I tried Ubuntu 11.10 Beta 1 earlier... What a miserable experience that was... Yes, yes I understand its a beta but it's only a few weeks away from final release and its completely broken. I don't understand all the gushing reviews when its a complete dogs breakfast.
Looks nice. Pretty much all the Kubuntu releases I've tried so far, gave me the impression that their implementation of KDE isn't on par with that of Mandriva or SUSE. I'd be really glad, if 11.10 managges to change that :)
@tadevokle Apparently Pardus has a good implementation of KDE. I haven't tried Mandriva or SUSE so I can't do a fair comparison of them all. Im tempted to try SUSE at somepoint
Brilliant as usual....Thanks boss... As you do such kind perfect and useful stuff for us.....anyway I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 beta 1, Just crashing and keep continuing to send bugs reports...:P
@quidsup Boss...good news is...Since I installed beta 1... It's taking updates daily and it's getting better & better...I used to feel that I really need windows....but now I think I've here almost everything that I might need... After 9 months of using Ubuntu... I discovered my software here... I will advise.. If you're using pirated versions of windows as I did... Feel free to join in...xD
@quidsup Boss...one more thing I wanna add is...please, don't mind writing only your videos... I only subscribed to your videos on youtube... few months ago I saw you that you were introducing new feathers for Ubuntu.. I was inspired only by you!! Didn't know anything about Linux but tried before that.. I used to run 2 times a month... As I started watching your videos...It's just 2 month... I've known ubuntu lance-pad, community... now I'm a big fan of linux..Kicked my pirated windows..cheers
Ubuntunun yanında, Kubuntu tam bir rezalet. Win98 gibi bir sisteme benziyor. Oysa ki Ubuntu ve GNOME3 olan bir Ubuntunun yanında kocaman bir hiç Kubuntu
been using kde for about a yearr now. KDE is the future of the linux desktop. Unity is an oxymoron but KDE has been fantastic. Only thing i miss from gnome was being able to zoom with the scrollwheel. Gwenview + kipi is way better than eye of gnome. The plasma desktop is just more streamline. I always felt that there was something missing in gnome (classic) and customizing with docks and conky while having to lose the desktop icons were just one out of many gnome compromises.
Well, KDE has never impressed me too much, and --even though i like your demos-- this is just not enough to motivate a move to KDE. Sorry KUBUNTU guys! I am sure you worked hard on it.
@quidsup I hope so i want a change from windows xp and just wondering will kubuntu or Ubuntu or xubuntu effect my space on windows xp if i use wubi. I know wubi takes up certain space but will xps space be used up by those?
@pschamp723 Wubi is only a testing platform and not long term use. It will take up a lot of space, but as long as XP still has a few Gb spare it'll be fine
Looks very nice. I'm using Mint 10 KDE with the Lancelot Menu. I quite like the Lancelot Menu. I've switched from Gnome to KDE (not entirely because I have Linux Mint 11 installed too but I don't use it as much).

What do you mean you can jump back in dolphin?? I have 11.04 installed and what you demonstrated is exactly as it is in 11.04.

And Moon? What was wrong with KPackageKit?
Keruaran 5 months ago
@Keruaran Yes I agree about Ubuntu 11.10 beta not being too good. Kubuntu is looking a lot more complete.
I think Canonical have tried to make things easier for noobs hence the switch to Moun
quidsup 5 months ago
@Keruaran I have it now, and it's fine.

Yes it did improve quite a bit before the release. I jumped the gun a bit.

@sabbir2world Thanks. Good work work giving Ubuntu beta a testing. Yeah it will keep crashing a lot right up until about a week before final release.

@OmenX13 Using Synaptic in KDE looked awful, I think they've done the right thing with Moun providing a Synaptic like app that looks great in KDE
quidsup 5 months ago
@quidsup Well there is a fix for Synaptic in KDE with that oxygen-gtk theme, but by default is was Ugly as my Windows 95 installation on VirtualBox.
