Ireland has a habit of either electing corrupt politicians or turning good politicians corrupt. berti is a decent guy and his lifestyle makes it clear that he was never in politics to become wealthy. he made mistakes but his intentions were always good, unlike haughey. i have no doubt that if he was still taoiseach, Ireland would be in a better position economically in terms of recovery.
