  • I don't know how a 1500 watt heater saves money? With that heater running a lot, your electric bill would not be any better than running your regular heating unit. Sure the edenpure is probably safer than most electric heaters, but I don't see how it saves you money. Just another glorified piece of crap.

  • @MrHubble2012 Perhaps the Eden Pure uses soft electricity and it doesn't cost as much. LOL

  • We have a few. Bought them off a family member for at least half if not more off the price. I don't think they're as awful as what many people claim they are. We've had ours for 4 years and it works like a charm. Sure it costs a good sum of money, but it's stylish. Such is life. :P

  • This is a good product. Don't get it wrong. Why is it coming out now? Electronics in general require new laws for construction for cleaner air. Infrared is used to heat the circuit boards hotter during construction. So new controllers for quartz bulbs, which can flicker to adjust heat, are being made at no expense meaning very high quality components. They pick these up for cheap and you get a high quality heater, extremely efficient based on they are made to help the environment!

  • But does these heaters save you more heat?

I do have a complaint with them.Their heaters needed about $160.00 to fix them. But they still pay for themselves.

  • They ran a test on Bob Villa during an Eden Pure add shot. he was putting out just about as much energy according to their infared camra as the central heater, think maybe hes drinking 200 proof?

  • What I find astounding is how they claim these 1500 watt infrared heaters can heat up to 1000 square feet. If they put out the same power as a 20 dollar space heater how can they claim it will heat so much more than the cheap space heater? It seems to be an out and out lie. Whether its Eden Pure or another brand they all put out the same power and radiant heat or not they are not going to heat that large a space with that amount of power. And Bob Villa, he would say anything for money.

  • I own an I-Heater and it doesn't do what it claims. It sucks. It made my electric bill go up...

  • sheesh. these don't even have the ambience of an electric fireplace or fireplace stove. Not much heat, but a whole lot prettier and cheaper

  • I don't know...all of these space heaters seem dangerous

  • wrong!! It saved for its self many times over for me.Most the time i don't even get charged for 6 to 10 months cause i pay auto from my bank and so gas, water, sewer and sanitation i don't have to pay any thing. One year i did not pay a bill for 15 months till they paid me back by not taking .But they only last about 3 ears but they have a local place repair it close to me.

  • @77777zula

You are an illiterate moron! These Eden Pure heaters are actually WORSE than the space heaters sold at Walmart for $20. If you paid $400 for a $20 heater promoted by a washed up has been actor on TV, then you deserve to be ridiculed all day long lol You probably have a kitchen full of defective RONCO products too! haha

  • i like this guy. it amazes me that the average person with practical knowledge

kills the claim of "villa" the so called expert! thanks man, you should run your

    own consumer reports. you rock.

  • @MISSEDHERSIR Bob Villa is an Asshole and a Puppet!

  • After an incredibly cold winter in the mid-west, I was going to purchase two. I am now revisiting that idea.

  • This is a tiny example of why science education matters...Hell not even science, just logic or basic arithmetic. It is impossible to get 2000 watts of heat using 1000 watts of power... how can ANYONE believe this stuff?

  • @markhollandmd Law of Conservation of Energy, exactly! You can't "create" or "destroy" energy. As a constant, energy can be converted from one form to another in a "equal trade". I learned this in the 9th grade lol.

  • I'd like to know if anyone took the effort to take them to court already? Did anyone sue EdenPure? How about suing Bob Villa for assisting them in their fraudulent claims?

I'm surprised that they have such a presence. Normally, the various government safety checks would have stopped these types of crooks by now. What on earth is taking so long?

  • @a1mint Good question

  • i got the eden pure us 1000, i have a small lake house about 1000 sq feet. i have just the baseboard heater on in the kitchen set to 65 and the edenpure set on half in the livingroom. the kitchen and living room are 80 degrees and the bedrooms are 72 constantly. the edenpure isnt using shit for power.

  • They made some changes to the new ones. People who bought the GEN3 complain that it stops heating after a couple years because the bulbs can burn out. The GEN3 used 6 bulbs and they are about $10 a piece. The US1000 uses 3 500W bulbs that I would assume are more durable. As for the BTU output, infrared technology shouldn't be measured in BTU's because it heats more like a microwave than a heater. You're test would be better if you saw the electricity used to maintain heat in a space over time.

  • @CaptainMcMelon It heats more like a microwave than a heater???!!! You are a total idiot!

  • Thank you sir!!!! People who are thinking of buying one, needs to know how much of a ripoff they are!

  • As Landrew0 points out, every single electric space heater is exactly 100% efficient, because all the electricity it uses is converted to heat.

  • I saw one of these in a store today for $599 (on sale no less!).

The truth is that ALL electric heaters are about 100% efficient. I mean where would the wasted energy go? It escapes as HEAT! In the same aisle, I could have bought a $12 electric heater which also used 1500 watts, and it would have heated a room exactly the same way.

  • and to think I was just going to purchase one .... first off THANK YOU KDAVEEM and THANK YOU YOUTUBE !!! I can't help to think of how many useless worthless items i would have purchased over the years if it wasnt for people like this awesome gentleman and his review and youtube !

  • I have a couple questions.

Does it really do 1000 square feet?

Can you hold a thermometer as far away from a $20 lil heater like you have as well as the edenpur and get the same temp?

If I had a choice to put an edenpur in a 1000sq foot living room or an electric baseboard heater, which would save me money?

  • @FlareSideMuzik I don't know much about baseboard heaters in comparison to the Eden Pure heaters but if your thinking about buying an Eden Pure model with the idea that it's going to save you money in comparison to a small cube heater your going to be disappointed.

  • @kdaveem I have bought about 5 of these some were gifts. It pays for it's self many many times over every year.I tell everyone about them.I cannot thank God enough for leading me to these money saving heaters. You do not have to worry about the grand kids getting burned on them also.

  • @77777zula GOD led you to these heaters? Now you need medication for being schizophrenic as well as a douchebag moron with no language skills.

  • @FlareSideMuzik dont waist your money ,tonight i tore my second one apart and its going in the trash like the first. we bought two & the first died after 200 hrs and this one lasted maybe 30 more. plus they dont heat worth crap.waisted 600$

  • @238raymo My EdenPure lasted two years and 11 months. It started "RATTLING" and sounded like it was going to BLOWUP ! Then it just died. NEVER buy one.

  • @FlareSideMuzik

The only way to save money is to switch your heating mentality to "zoned heating". So if you turn your homes thermostat down 10 degrees you'll save money on your heating bill. Then you plug the EdenPURE in your living room so you are comfortable in that room. The added electric cost to heat one room will not surpass the savings to reduce the temperature by 10 degrees in 7 or 8 rooms. As for the 1000 Sq.ft. I'm sure it depends, but 1000 sq.ft. is pretty small, so probably.

  • Very straight forward and credible.

  • @TheLizardKing1967 If you paid attention to my video you might notice I was not comparing propane heaters to electric heaters.

  • It does work, but it doesn't last. They last less than a season. It is expensive and I can say that edenpure are junk. Overpriced junk at that. It should last more than one winter season.

  • This guy is "beyond" being able to understand that sometimes an invention just works, and works well. I am a former Eden Pure Heater Dealer. The company owner by Benjamin Suarez SUCKS, but Eden Pure Heaters work. Just the facts ...

Let me repeat again and again the company SUCKS...

  • edenpure is junk ! i have had 3 and none of them work worth a darn.

bought one new,had to send it back twice. never got a good unit and had to go buy a different kind. and wait and wait and wait to get the money back from the edenpure.

    pure means pure junk !

  • On the burning the air claim, the only thing that can burn the air that I'm aware of is a nuclear bomb. The claim that normal heaters burn the air, or the oxygen in the air, unless its actually using a fire, is just not true.

  • i guess i will stick to my heat pump , this dosent make sense , use your power heat & use a eden to to save money what a joke plus there is nothing on how long it will last

  • @ kdaveem. You're correct, the only thing that the Eden Pure might be better at is being cool to the touch. However, all electric heat is 100 percent efficient. Buy the least expensive heater with the features you want and you'll spend a small fraction of what you will with the Eden Pure. As a foster parent, I can't even have these in my home due to state law.

  • @fixinggrace One reason many people believed the Eden Pure heater had an advantage was its heated copper tubes or heat exchangers which seemed to hold on to some of the heat. In theory it seemed to make sense but not after testing one and doing a comparison. Thanks for the comment.

  • @kdaveem what is so wrong with radiant heat? from the information i have read, the eden pure is basically a heat lamp. isnt radiant heat the whole point of a heat lamp?

  • @hammerhorn Radiant heat is fine in some situations. I prefer a fan forced heater which seems to warm the air quicker.

  • @kdaveem - the copper supposedly retains the heat - If it is being retained- then how is it being transfered to the room ? Answer - it is being transfered at a slower steadier rate - which does not 'overheat' air around or coming out of the unit and sending it up to the ceiling. I don't know it makes sense to me - I have used ceramic heaters and elements are very hot - glowing - If a Lamp uses 1500w for a short period of time 'overheating' the copper - the copper can then trans to the room ?

  • You are measuring apples and oranges and therefore coming up with false conclusions. The name of the product is immaterial. Try this mount 6 250 watt infrared bulbs on a platform, enclose them in a metal box with openings for inlet air and outlet air and blow a fan over them.

  • @rgbarnes46

That sounds like a good experiment but don't you think the real proof should be measurable using a standard temperature gauge over time?

  • No. The question is how comfortable is the room? Not, how hot does the heater get? The infrared bulbs, available at Wal-Mart, heat the air and the "stuff" in the room and you feel warmer and more comfortable at a lower thermostat setting than with radiant heat which produces hot spots. radiant is only warm when it is directed right at you. Try both and see the difference

  • @rgbarnes46

To me the question is how high does the thermometer

    go over time.

I understand what your saying about hot spots, but my 20 dollar heater does a real good job of heating the air rather than producing radiant heat.

  • for $30 you could have real comfort in 1000 sq ft room. But if you would rather argue than test it out you will never know what your missing. Some people are happy to never know. You might also consider how long does the thermometer across the room remain at a given temperature. The problem with scientific testing is that the instruments used only deliver staatic statistics, it is still up to the human make sure that the test covered pertinent variables. I can prove anything with "statistics".

  • Don't you think its fair to say I tested your idea when I compared my heater to the Eden Pure model which uses the principles your speaking of? It appears you believe there is something different about the heat which comes from the Eden Pure in comparison to a conventional fan driven heater. I often hear Eden Pure sellers saying something about soft heat as though it were some uniquely new form of heat which warms things more efficiently.

  • This will not cost very much but it will make a very effective room heater. You will experience the "soft" heat that edenpure advertises. The room upto 1000 sq ft. will be warmed from ceiling to floor very evenly. no hot spots or cold spot after it has been operating for some time. Improve the design by adding a thermostat, and Iron pipe for the bulbs to heat and the air to blow over.

  • The cost to keep a room warm is considerable less than when using radiant heat and the room feels more comfortable. This is a cheap and effective experiment so do not take my word for it, try it. You will be amazed, and you will have made your own infrared heater for a fraction of the cost that the manufacturers charge.

  • well i just bought this and well yes it heat you if ur right by it ,if you have drafts it keeps running over and to me that will run ur bill up more,im pissed its not worth the money it is a scam,YOU DO NOT FEEL THE HEAT IF UR AWAY FROM IT IN A LARGE ROOM.and i bought the one that heats 1,000 sq feet,bs .its a ripp off the maker should be sued 100 times over.SCAM!

  • @ericrepine

I think Eden Pure allows you to return the heater with in the first 30 days.

  • I have electric baseboard heaters and I stopped using them. I am only running one Eden Pure to heat a large living area. This has saved me money on my electric bill. I have used other electric heaters and none of them come close to heating the size of my living space.

  • Eden Pure works. I bet most of the people saying it doesn't, probably don't even own one. This heater is awesome.

  • @Sidoti8

Yes the heater works no one is arguing that point but it doesn't save people money over most conventional fan heaters.

  • Yes, every watt-hour of electricity consumed eventually becomes 3.41 BTUs (a BTU is 1 pound of water heated up by 1 degree F) of heat. If it is from a light bulb (no matter the type) part of it is radiated as heat and the rest is radiated as light which is then absorbed by objects and becomes heat. It doesn't matter if it is 3 500 watt bulbs shining on "cured copper" in an overpriced box or 15 standard 100 watt bulbs on a table or a 1500W heater for $20 at Wal-Mart the heat output is the same.

  • another dumbass below

  • Anybody stupid enough to pay $400 for an electric heater is obviously too stupid to understand the laws of physics.

EdenPURE heaters are a HUGE RIPOFF!

Just because they pay some know-nothing television celebrity like Bob Vila to promote these things, that does not exempt EdenPURE from the laws of physics. (Bob Vila studied JOURNALISM not physics). A Watt is a Watt and 3.41 BTU's is 3.41 BTU's.

  • Using a humidifier greatly affects how this heater works.

  • Anyone who says that the Eden Pure heater doesn't work is an idiot. I bought one on Ebay and it heats up my whole living room which is about 900 sq feet. All you need is a humidity and temperature gauge. Ceiling fans help as well. This heater is more like a furnace.

  • HOWDY, yes edenpure is a rip, but you can find a real high end AMERICAN MADE heater at shaneshop (dot) net called the sun aire. They are made with real steel and real oak wood.

  • edin pure sounds like such a scam. on the commeriocal they talk shit about all the other heaters. other heaters BURN the AIR!! would you want burned air for your children. haha electric heaters all the same pretty much

  • Furthermore, their $300 heater is only 900 Watts. My $25 Holmes heater has lasted for 5 years and puts out about 1400 Watts. Most home outlets/breakers are 15 or 20 Amps, limiting the heat output for any circuit. To whoever claimed the air filter made the air healthier, its not a hepa filter, just a standard crappy sponge type found on many midrange ($40) heaters. Like most scam companies a simple internet search reveals countless early failures and worthless customer support for the edenpure

  • Yes, these heaters are a complete scam. Every electric space heater has an identical efficiency of 100% unless you point it out a window. Their cheapest model is $300, or about 5 times the cost of an average quartz fan heater. Their infomercial uses fear tactics about "burning coils" and burning water from the air and making the air unhealthy. None of these claims have any basis.

  • In my HVAC/R class we found that it is the same as a space heater(plus fancy components/ a nicer looking box) . The biggest difference is that the Edenpure cost more due to they components breaking. It even says in the instructions not to place near anything ,but on the informational it shows it right next to a chair. So all in all it's not worth the extra cash. You really want to save cash in the winter months turn you furnace down a few degrees and get under blankets.

  • Don't believe this guy because he isn't backing up his statements with any evidence. He does not explain his experiment in enough detail. It is completely biased.

  • They have sold over two million units now. I guess because they don't work, right. Best space heater ever invented by a long shot. I own two, and their awesome heaters. You don't know what your talking about Kdaveem......

  • It's limited to approx 1800 watts just like any other heater. 1800 watts in 1800 watts out.

  • best heater is a prest heat dish

  • my parants bought one a wile back the unit come with a no questions asked waranty it has built in humidefier and filter it is like a wood stove very soft heat and yes if you are planning on having a room you can walk in and its 95 \100 degrees its gonna have to be a small room to mantain that but we use it as a suplument not primary with it on our furnace does not come one prolly two thirds or so as much as it used to

  • Comment removed

  • tommya300's comments contradict basic laws of physics- he has basically rewritten science! 1500 watts from an outlet translates into 5120 BTU's of heat, whether the heat is generated from a resistance coil, quartz or whatever. EdenPure cannot possibly be more efficient than that $20 Pelonis I bought at the Ace. That is why they are a scam that rips off the poor and elderly because they try to convince people that they are "miracles." This is not opinion, this is *fact.*

  • No I do not have stokes in the company and yes you have 60days to try it.

It's spec label says it is 1000 watts and the way it distributes the heat well I am running at different times all 3 of mine upside down to warm the floor and that lets the warm air flow farther out from the unit before rising to the celling. I can not do that for 20 dollars.

  • I have oil heat besides the oil I watched the electric meter while burning oil and that injection motor real draws like a water heater. Besides saving on oil and electric because I need not run the eden at full power which helps. So you do or you don't but the weight of the whole efficiency is negitive more than explaining the whole thing. I say it its safe and I have Oil heat which is a double wammy thing.

  • Any heating instrument has a shorter life if you do not let the fan cool it down before unpluging it. If things get really cold I can put up a tent in the living room make belive I went camping and heat the inside of that without worring of fire and watch TV until I sleep.

  • I am raving? Sorry I am just emotional when half of the facts present a negative picture. What I experienced using it and what needs to be compared and safety concerns ignored or dismissed even. One needs to experience the working first hand to draw the conclussion and you do have a 60 day money back option!

  • Contradiction? I forgot to mention any math or physics or any reasoning for my comment. I said it was more efficient and did not give the reason. I should say the word affective! The BTU output is distributed more even so I need not run the unit at full power! For 20 dollars the heater is like a high powered rifle, you do get a heater that pushes the heat out like a bullet.

  • But for the same bullet pushing energy, I rather use a shotgun and the target fully gets covered, in less time. Maybe this clears up some of what I did not write!

  • Let's try not to feed the trolls, even though he/she is very funny.

I would agree with you though, it's painfully obvious that he/she is trying hard to push some sales. Since a heater brand war would make no sense. heh, heh.

  • One thing Eden can try doing is place the output in a way that it is lower to the floor a bit! Heat will travel out more before it rises! The smaller one gets heat closer to the floor area but the low BTU is not there! The Larger on has the BTU but the heat rises sooner. If the register were to push air out at floor level that would be ideal!

  • Just for the record I think the Eden Pure is a nice heater. If I was sitting directly in front of it I believe it would be more pleasant than my 20 dollar cube heater, but as far as its ability to save people money on their energy bill I just can't see how. My heater uses about 1500 watts, and so did the Edenpure heater I tested.

  • Well I can see that the 20 dollar heater needs to be watched! If something were to get to close to it it might ignite. Results and safety is an issue! Spend now or chance spending more or losing someting that money can't buy in the future. The specs on the back tells the story. You did not need to test it just read,

BTY how many amps did your meter read?

  • He said 12 amps 7 months ago. I'm considering buying one of these, but between his unwillingness to try one for a week or a month, and your blatant hostility on the subject, I don't know which way to go...You're raving like you're the sole stockholder.

  • Madwanda, you propelled me into reading the archives to this. Me? blatant? Compared to the other short sighted profanity type comments... The only thing I am guilty of is massive commenting.

  • I surly do appreciate your honesty and your sharing of this information.

    Jeanne

  • Yea I own a Quarts heater and an Eden Pure. I ran the quartz heater all winter 2 years ago and the Electric bill was thru the roof. This past year I saved with the Eden Pure. My testimonial here holds a little more water because everyone needs not to have a wattmeter to do this test. Record your reads on your house electric meter. Run the Eden Pure for a week! Read the meter again complete the math! You do have a 60 day trial period. Now use a wrinkly ding space heater described and compare!

  • A few feet in front of a heater? EGBottom of the heaters output is 1 foot off the floor place a thermometer 6 inches from it and 6 inches high off the floor and see if that hearter will heat that spot..

  • Healthier in essence! Removing any debris from the air is healthier any second have smoke removed is healthier. Look at the particle gatherer in the filter of the Eden Pure after using it for a week and see!

  • My second comment is on the mention of breakdowns! Break downs any heater that is not permitted to cool down on shutoff is prone to a shorter life. That is why the fan stays running on shutoff. Never unplug any fan driven heater until cooled even a hair dryer!

  • I get suspicious when people spend more time explaining on a video instead of showing how tests are conducted and readings things and comparing BTU and positioning the test equipment. How one describes distribution of heat, how many inches positioning of the test equipment in all 4 dimensions time being one of them. Temperature can not be a side by side test at the same time. A condition in space and time, a starting temp needs to be established to be accurate. Hear say is not scientific!

  • This guy hasn't a clue...Please. Eden Pure as a company sucks but their product works well. I don't know how you did your test but your evaluation is complete bullshit. Get a heater and actually use it then you'll remove your video.

  • Believe what every you like, but my test proved Eden Pure heaters arei no more efficient at warming the air than my small inexpensive cube heater.

  • You test holds no water it is full of implications acquisitions hear say! Did you see my video? Oh no? When that flash of a VA Watt meter gave me the impression that is was a painting of a box. Real results were not shown!

  • the best and safest way to stay warm in a gas furnace

  • Huh find a pocket of raw methane in your back yard and go for it. Like they say Your where? New York City? All I go it pocket change and then your shot for that!

  • I have an eden pure heater that I used last winter and I love it !!! I have propane heat so it saved me over $2,000.00 last winter. I did have a friend that didn't like hers until I showed her the right way to use it. I have found from others to that haven't set up the heater right or read the manual are the ones who are unhappy, come on people.

  • I agree ! But isn't it a common sence thing or is there something I missed in the instructions?

  • I don't like the ads since they say it will lead to lower bills and better health. And who wouldn't spend a little money if it means less to pay later on though lower medical and electric bills. But, it apparently acts like any other heater as you pointed out, that person sadly wasted money because he or she fell for some seemingly caring and nice person tell them about their "product". The ad sure had me fooled until I checked it out online.

  • In spite of the fact that these heaters don't work as the manufacture claims, they are selling like hot cakes. So far I met three people who bought one, and a fourth gentleman who sells them.

  • Ah reading is all believing as the way you want. I say try it if you like it keep it. Firsty hand always shows both sides.

Air is filltered that is what makes that comment healthier. Immagine not having any any med bills because of the absolute health is commpletely positive. Word play!

  • I live in a 100 year old double brick home w/plaster and lath walls, no insulation in the walls. I have sold hundreds of residential and commercial (pro heat installs). Have proficiency in Elite HVAC load calculation software and am Eden Pure dealer. It's idiots who miss-represent the product that create

a bad name. Eden Pure is miles ahead of ordinary space heaters as I found out for myself this past winter. They aren't meant for

poorly insulated buildings or garages or basements, please....

  • Part of your last comment was cut off due to the limited characters available, but please post again if you feel I said something incorrect about the Edenpure heater.

  • I have an Eden Pure heater and it works great. I use propane and it saved me over $2,000.00 last winter. One of my friends was not happy with hers until I showed her the right way to use it. You people need to read your manuals, and set it up right.

  • I bought one of these,My electric bill went up higher than I expected! I tested mine with an amp meter and it was pulling 12 amps I think on high

  • 12 amps is pretty much what most of the electric heaters use on high, so I'm not surprised.

  • wow, i was really impressed with this review. You have a good sense of how to fairly test and evaluate. Well done!

  • The older fan forced heaters from the 1950's and 1960's tend to use 1600 watts and put out lots of heat. I just put new wiring in my old Thermador, which is a fan forced unit like your cube heater (just more powerful) and I use it at the office.

I'll send a video of a friend's similar Dominion / Montgomery Ward heater.

  • It may be a nice heater, but nevertheless your heat output is still limited to about 5000 BTUs for 1500 watt of input power. A heater which draws 1600 watts will do slightly better, but not much.

  • Did anybody do a test on the Amish heaters?

  • thanks for that i was thinking the exact same thing,, after doing a little reasech

  • Have you ever tested a econo heat heater?

    wallmount

  • Sorry but I don't know anything about this heater.

The manufacture should list power in Vs the BTU output.

  • I can't say I have, but like all electric heaters. I think you will find the same limitations as far as energy input Vs heat output.

  • Thank You Very Much!I Almost Went Out And Got One.If it sounds to good to be True It usually is.

  • thanks for the info...i have also hear alotta negative comments on them also.
