Bjork is the most original and eccentric artist EVER! She is mocked for her style but her voice is above and above anything that people can make fun of.
Bjork is the most original and eccentric artist EVER! She is mocked for her style but her voice is over and above anything that people can make fun of.
Byork, unlike Lady Gaga whom you referenced, can't help but be different. She's just a "different" kind of person. And I mean that in the absolute best way. Joni, if you met her, you would find shes pretty eccentric herself'. Love 'em both!!
The latest shit from Bjork is horrible, but here she shows she actually can sing and has a one powerful voice! Beautiful interpretation. Bjork, please, stop screaming and roaring pointlessly on your records and start writing lovely songs like you used to. We miss your good stuff. What the hell happend to you, girl? :D
Volta was a big pile of garbage. :D When I first heard it I just couldn't believe how bad it was. Personally I blame Mathew Barney for changing Bjork into some avent-garde weirdo. Since she teamed up with him she's more concerned with looking weird than writing some decent tunes. :P
@andrzejrobertendriu "she's more concerned with looking weird than writing some decent tunes." Hmm kinda sounds like Lady Gaga. It's strange that you mentioned Mr. Barney, I used to have a extremely huge crush on Bjork when I first found about her, when I saw the videos for Possibly Maybe and Alarm Call, when I found out she was married, I really wanted to kill Matthew Barney, but then I saw her what she looks now....Okay Matthew, you can have her.
@dilcofilms I thought only gays and ugly women find Bjork atractive... :D Don't mean to be rude or funny or something. I do think she's kinde cute, but in the end I'm gay meselfe! :D
Look sorry everyone I know you will be disappointed but when bjorks divorce comes through I'm afraid she will be marrying me. Once she finds out I exist.....
Yes, and it shows that Björk is a Joni Mitchell fan... her cover certainly does justice to the original song. She chose a song that's close to her musical world... those arrangements nearly make it one of her own. Brilliant.
I've been watching Bjork interviews and I'm so in awe of her optimism and morals and sense of responsibility. She got so much shit in the early 90s with her popularity- media stereotypes, bomb threats from her own fans, and yet her reaction wasn't to turn inward or even to make bitter music (like some of Joni's beautiful later stuff), but smile sadly, keep that trust in love "maybe not from the sources you've been staring at", & shout at us to care for each other. Amazingly strong person.
they are both such open minded people from small, charming, cold, closed minded places. they grew up very early, love problems and kids & hard work before they ever were famous, but they kept such a love for humanity, that when they went to the big city people misinterpreted their honesty as naive childlikeness. their music is always somehow rooted to what they grew up with but they're bored in one place, they have to bring reality, the huge clash of sounds and cultures in & make a new flag.

it's not affections, 'negro affectations', a band that 'affects' (uses) the style of black music (bear in mind the original was written 1975). Joni Mitchell and Bjork are the best ever. Joni's lyrics give a series of impressions, poetic and real. Bjork must relate to the song from her time in punk bands. & you know, Bjork said she never knew soul music existed till she was 25, but both of them ended up sorta making Nordic R&B! Bjork grew up a fan of Joni Mitchell, shares the same fearlessness :)
Thank you for this post- I have loved this song for 30 years(more than half my life)- Bjork's version brings the care and thoughtfulness that the lyric/poem calls for- thanks also for the photos
this song completely blew me away the first time i heard it. it still does :)
