  • question not that i disagree, but what if shortly and near is a long time for us but shortly and near to God.

  • it was written 20-25 years AFTER the destruction of Jerusalem (70 AD)

how about that ? The HOLY SPIRIT does not teach the preterist view.

  • . Everything shown to John in Rev 4-22 must be fulfilled after the THINGS of the churches, Matt 24:14, and not the same time.

John was commanded to write THREE THINGS in THREE orders. One THING must be fulfilled before the next and not at the same time. We must keep the THINGS in each order of the book to which they belong instead of bringing one THING from one division into another. You cant mix historical events with prophetic events.

  • We might be forgetting the subject Johns writting about. Its(things)not time.Certainly in the first verses the THINGS spoken did shortly come to pass. What r these THINGS?Rev1:19 THINGS which he seen,THINGSwhich are,&THINGSwhich shall be hereafter. THINGS he seen,is the vision of Christ in RV 1 he saw before he was told to write,R 4:1The things which r is things concerning the churches which he wrote about in R 2-3,THINGS which beafter the CHRCHES,that is to say, after the church(THINGS)fulfilled

  • Again, and yet you yourself say that, like myself, certain parts of Revelation WILL NOT SHORTLY COME TO PASS.

  • this view has thousands of holes in it...

  • Deceitful preacher of merchandise. This video is a book promotion !!!!!!!

  • No, the video promotes a DVD, which is posted here on YouTube in its entirety. You can see the whole thing here for free and you can also buy the DVD.

    That is NOT deceitful.

  • Did you know that the Living Perfect God has even told the Man of Sin to repent so as to avoid wrath ?

  • And lastly

Jesus said he will come when the abomination that causes desolation arises. Then the angels shall gather the elect from the four corners. So in his second coming he is with the angels not the church, because the angels are going to gather the church when he comes. blessed is he who takes part in the first resurrection. the second death has no power over them. But most christians today are sinful and blind. they need not worry about a rapture but whether they are gatherd or punished

  • Also as a result of false prophesy we have movies like Left behind.

But this is what the word says about a rapture. When you see the abomination that causes desolation standing where it does not belong—let the reader understand—then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. (Mark 13:14)

  • The reason people support the dispensationalist view is because they don't want to except what Jesus said in Matthew. They want to be raptured.

9"Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,

  • -In Hebrew, the letter waw is used to represent the number 6

-The Hebrew Letter waw/vav is commonly pronounced "w."

-In antiquity and in modern Hebrew, letters also represent numbers

-The common abbreviation "w w w " Numerically, in Hebrew this abbreviation would be 6-6-6 ..not 666

-w w w is a good symbol of general computer use.

-I think The Seer probably understood what his vision was showing him ( though English didnt even exist ) but needed it to remain un-translated till the time

  • this man talks sense.

  • in the end times many will give false prophecy,,, i see it all over you tube ...besides in GODS KINGDOM there will be no suffering, no crying , no pain, also no sin... we are not even close... this guy is wicked,, oh yeah what about the mark of the beast

  • One only needs the Spirit of Truth to enlighten... personally, I am drawn to this view... however, I also feel that ALL of us have at least some wrong and some right views.

We are children of God... as children, we won't fully understand God's plan and all meanings until we are mature enough spiritually to do so.

That's not a bad thing... God is showing us that we are not on His level and also just how dependent we really are on Him!

    imo

  • Can anyone remember reading of the time when an army of two hundred million came from the east, and killed a third of the worlds population? (Rev:9:16) surly the Romans of the first century would have noticed this threat to their power

  • This is covered in the video.

First, ancient people had no word for "million." In the Hebrew Bible "thousands upon thousands is an idiom meaning a huge number beyond imagining. No army in the world will EVER have 200 million troops.

Second, the Rev 9:1g does not say they killed one-third of the WORLD'S (kosmos) population, but one-third of the EARTH'S or LAND'S (geh) population. The "land" is a synonym for the land of Israel.

One third of the inhabitants of the land were killed.

  • Rev:9:16 And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I HEARD THE NUMBER OF THEM.

Rev:9: 18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.

  • Well I could argue with you that thousand thousands is an idiom meaning a whole lot, but you would probably have a ZILLION answers for me showing me how wrong is the idea that a Jew would ever use hyperbole.

  • I see that U don't understand Rev.9. Rev.9 is telling of the rise of Islam! In prophecy U have a day as a year. So the 5 months is actually 150 years as they used a 30 day month. In 632AD the Arabs moved from Arabia, conquering and to conquer, taking the life of all "infidels" or did not believe Islam. They did not harm the infrastructure just as prophesied, leaving the trees and things of value for their own use. In 1782 the Treaty of Constantinople brought peace. Reformers R right, U R NOT!

  • Didn't China claim to have that many troops? I don't understand all of this. It makes sense except when Daniel talked about how the end times would be it sounds like now. What does all that mean though?

  • So, read these thirty books that are not the bible and you will know the truth. I liked the way he opened and I had higher hopes for this presentation than a book drive. He's right though about what a Christians manor should be.

  • Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass;...

    Strong's:

    come to pass

    ginomai

    1) to become, i.e. to come into existence, BEGIN to be, receive being

Those things did BEGIN to come to pass in the first century.

  • I don't think that we disagree on the verb tense. We disagree on the interpretation.

We agree that part of Revelation was fulfilled the first century.

    The question is which parts.

  • Indeed.

Reformers understood NT prophecy was being fulfilled steadily as the Christian era gradually unfolded. Just how WE ALL understand OT prophecy to have been fulfilled. Indeed those like Matt Henry, Isaac Newton and Theieleman van Braght well understood the day-yer "language" of prophecy, which absolutely requires this traditional context.

I don't believe THE false prophet was fulfilled in the first century. I believe he was of the 6th century.

  • The Reformers were largely wrong about Revelation. If the pope was the Beast then why was he not destroyed?

Some preterists, such as Calvin in his commetary on Daniel and Mt. 24, didn't write a commentary on Revelation.

It is odd that some have taken a preterist view of Daniel and Mat 24, but shift to a futurist view of Revelation. My contention is that these books comment on each other and need to be used to interpret each other.

A consistent hermeneutic needs to be applied.

  • You may be minimizing the ethnographic hermeneutic. Were the pope burning folks at the stake today, there would be no shortage of those trying to make it fit, though this was just ONE of their interpretations.

Regarding Calvin, Revelation is reserved for God's bond servants.

I agree entirely that "...these books comment on each other and need to be used to interpret each other."

Then why is John's "beast" described as a lion-bear-leopard?

    A hermeneutically sound approach:

  • Agree even more with:

"A consistent hermeneutic needs to be applied."

How do you explain FIRST discarding the continuous-historic hermeneutic you use for OT prophecy, in favor of a parpret view of Revelation?

Have you ever even considered a continuous-historic view of Revelation?

Here is a free book of one such view. Easy and entertaining to read. But you won't see a word of it if you begin by trying to wring it through the filter of your doctrine:

  • Yes, I have considered the historicist position.

I've also considered the idealist position and I was most attracted to that. I came to the partial preterist position relunctantly. What seal it for me (no pun intended) was Daniel's prophecy. I saw that a prophecy meant for the Jews about the Messiah could not be applied to speak to Protestants at the time of the Reformation about the papacy. The intent of the prophecy would be wrenched out of context.

  • Did you ever consider Daniel's dreams, in the light of Hebrew scholars understanding of the HEBREW IDIOM "time, times and an half" (2-1/2), before abandoning the traditional continuous-historic view that you hold for Old Testament prophecy, in it's application to NT?

    First year Belshazzar 552BC + 2500 = 1948

    Third year Cyrus 533BC + 2500 = 1967

I do not believe the pope is "the" "antichrist" either.

    It's not an individual.

  • nooooo .what the scripture says is what it is

  • shorthly,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • I am not promoting anything.

There is only one Truth and that is found in God's word, which is FREE!!

  • Statement: "I am not promoting anything."

Refuted by: "There is only one Truth..."

I agree with your latter statement and the fact that it negates the former.

  • Pushing? If you don't want people's comments, then disallow them. What I stated is fact, anyone can look it up.

In God alone should we trust!

  • No, I mean why criticize someone for using Zondervan to promote his views, when you use YouTube to promote yours -- which has many more Godless videos than Zondervan has books?

  • Another guy trying to make a buck off of his books.

Oh, and none other than ZONDERVAN, who publishes the satanic bible and pro homosexual books.

  • Oh, and you push your ideas on YouTube?

  • This video is interesting but seeing the world that we live in it's hard to think that things are going to get better. with passing day it seems that we are on the edge of distroing our selves.

  • I know what you mean. I guess it's hard to see the large scale picture from our perspective.

I myself am an amillenialist and we don't share the same positive outlook of postmillenialism. However postmillenialist do know their scriptures as well so I won't dismiss the possibility of them being right on this issue. :) God bless

  • Revelation QUALIFIES who the revelation is just for the "HIS SLAVES." Are YOU one of Jesus' "slaves"? Then Revelation wasn't meant for you. This is a specific book for a specific small set of people who would be active when these things would occur "shortly", thus persons in the 20th century. It is a presumption that when it says Revelation was written for the "slaves" that it meant anyone in the 1st century.

  • We are slaves/servants of Christ. Rom 6:22; Eph 6:6

For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. 2 Cor 4:5 This should apply to all believers not only the apostles.

But as I have mentioned eariler, these "slaves" the book was written to where contemporary with John as we see in Rev 1:9.
