  • Left Helensburgh Scotland over 5 years ago this GREAT song does not make it any easier but I will be going home soon

  • Great - Thank`s Donnie !!!

  • played this at my mums funeral 2 years ago the words

are just perfect we are scottish but have lived in england

for 43 years going home just seemed like the perfect song

    to say goodbye to her

  • dieser Titel treibt mir immer wieder die Tränen in die Augen! Traumhaft - einfach unglaublich.

  • Aye, the great music !!

  • Every time i travel this is the song a listen to till im back in my SCOTLAND

  • Fabulous - Runrig at their best.

  • I totally concur with torfootlass, this is the anthem of choice for my funeral. Not being mobid, but demonstrates the brilliance that we Celts are capable of. It encapsulates the very essence of what we are all about. Cannot think of a more fitting tribute as a send off. I am a Cornish Lass from grass root origin, and can appreciate and understand where Run Rig and all Scottish Celts are coming from. God bless you all, and long may we survive as a species.

  • Best Song forever !

  • As a sailor, it says everything in my mind.... Ohhhh, such a beautifull song....

  • the Music goes on Runrig goes on

  • Its a beautiful song

  • My lovely dad insisted this was played at his funeral. He got his wishes and there was hardly a dry eye in the church. I miss him

  • miss donnie :-( ...it will never be the same

  • @Diamanten86A

    TRUE SO TRUE

  • An Ubhal as Airde - is awesome!

  • When I lived in England, I played this song on the drive back to Edinburgh- home. And, now I live in the USA, I still play this song. It reminds me of Scotland and going home!

  • Although I am not a Scot I do have Scottish ancestry which may well account for my love of Runrig, I still cannot pronounce my favourite song of their's Sguaban Abhair, but for me that is the greatest song they ever did, but this one comes close :)

  • i hope they play this song when i'm born

  • one day soon forever

  • fully agree with ikkler, Donnie is the best and the most emotionallly uplifiting singer, he is in a class of his own. His singing makes my life so much more worth living. I enjoy listening to him regular, life would not be the same without his voice, the words of runrigs music and runrig as a group

  • this is the first time i have heard this so nice my mum died 16 years ago and i took some of her ashes home sprinkled them on the old course listening to this has made my eyes moist god bless mum i love you so much and miss you thankyou runrig

  • Went "home" last week - had to leave again too soon, but will be back to stay next time

  • Goose bumps galore....Yeha....

  • Donnie at his best. Fantastic melody. superb guitar work awesome band! Should have had much more success.

  • amazin song! my dads last song! r.i.p dad

  • I am frightened to comment, everybody wants to get planted with this song playing,,, I unfortunately just want to be back in SCOTLAND soon from Australia, and experience all that wonderfull WARM WEATHER<,,,,,,lol

  • @rangers13141 Well I can tell you now. The weather is still the same. Beautiful rain all the time. And it goes slightly diagonal when the wind is behind it. NOT ALWAYS straight down as the sassenachs would have you believe. WELCOME HOME. (When you get here).

  • I will never get over Donnie Munro leaving Runrig - sorry - can't help it!

  • @helenthemu I was very very sad when he sang this at stirling castle.

  • @brucey62 Dear Bruce, I can "greet" my way through more Runrig songs than I will admit to! At 54 years, I've been a fan forever. The new guy, (can't remember his name) is good, but will never be Donnie Munro! Also, in my "old age", I have only just started experimenting with a computer - you may or may not get this reply, but I was so "chuffed" to get a reply to something I wrote! Thank you x Mu x

  • @helenthemu his name is bruce,my name is joyce

  • This song reminds me of grandpa, two days before he died he said I'll never see Scotland again lass so never forget where your blood starts from be proud of it and stand by the Scots for they are the best at loyality. Hail to Scotland and grandpa Cunningham.

  • @purplekat6589 I would say the same thing to the close ones I would be leaving this great earth, Staying in Catalonia for many years. You can take the boy oot o Scotland but yi cani take Scotland oot the boy! (or Lass).Every country I visit us Scots are Loved every where and this makes my Job easier!!!!

  • @purplekat6589 i like your grandad.A PROUD SCOT

  • @purplekat6589

Though based in the southwest I had 3 scottish grandparents... (father from the borders).... used to go up every year as a kid, still feels like a home from home all these years later and proud to wear the kilt to get married in as a mark of respect for my bloodline

  • @purplekat6589 never a truer word did your grampa say loyality ,friendship to , open hearted oh yes i never forget where i came from a scot in ireland miss home

  • True, sorry

  • To torfootlass, I know when I go I would love to be back with my love Denise, who fell for Donnie the first time she heard his voice, and she was a Yank, but with the heart of a true Celt. And I believe I was born the wrong size of the border myself. I hope you will end up together and happy.

  • No nation is as proud as the Scots

  • @meakd you forgot the Welsh :-) Runrig are awesome tho!!!

  • ich liebe dieses Lied

  • Awesome. Makes me proud to be a scot

  • I'm Italian, I've been some times in Scotland and seen Runrig (LochNess2007, Scone,Barrowlands and more). I understand why you Scottish people are so proud of your nation ! It's simply wonderful !

  • @theiceman62 och aye

  • Just been home to the highlands after 10 years away in the states, had this song in my head the whole time, so beautiful.

  • proud to be scottish

  • Visit NEWSNET SCOTLAND everyone

  • I dedicate this song to me love Wilma

we just got together with love and I hope forever

    max

  • The way many may have lost Scotland has harbored a very sad feeling through the generations. Many who may not even realize their history yet. The presence of those before us is within us, as is our desire to 'go home' as the puzzle pieces come together. Runrig sings of this.

  • This always makes me Cry, Sitting here in Spain and thinking of my home of Scotland. I know its just aflight away but always so short a time I have to spend due to family commitments I hav eto come back here. But soon I will go back to stay !

  • Rory and Calum are my cousins. Still very close to them.

  • Two fantastic singers both have different ranges we are lucky to have both of them

  • You can hear that beautiful accent in his singing.

It tugs at the old hearstrings for sure.

    Amazing song and amazing band.

  • luv this song reminds me of my childhood happy times still gives me goosebumps everytime gr8 work donnie

  • i apologise to my good friend "firefighter gaz" cos my last comments were posted under his name! please read them and relate them back to me. respect to u pal, hope all`s well up in barrow, we all send our love. xx

  • beautiful song gives me a lump in my throat every time i play it! should be the Highlands athem as whenever i go there this song is played and makes me feel like the Highlands should be my home not the lowlands (falkirk!)

  • One of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I have ever heard, makes me realize how I miss Scotland, i know this i am looking forward to going home. The band old and present bring there different styles, both as wonderful as each other. Keep going, hope there are many more concerts. Robbie Bruce

  • I'll never forget travelling from Uig to Tarbert in the 70's on the "Heb" with Runrig on board. We had a fantastic ceidhligh in the bar including a couple of tunes on the pipes. I really didn't want to reach Tarbert! Donnie was the man at the time but i've seen Bruce live as well and he's damn good. Most bands go through changes and remain in better shape than some football teams that change players!!

  • alba forever i love donnie please come back, you are runrig with rory and callum, and the rest of the original line up.i have seen bruce and he his not a patch on donnie, also my gran is from waternish in skye, and i have been before and it is a beautiful island, alba forever

  • Donnie Munro ist einfach genial und ich liebe seine stimme. Schade, dass er nicht mehr bei der band ist.

  • My Mum told me I was in charge of making sure this gets played at her funeral.

Every time I hear this now, it makes me cry because I think about that day. =(

  • @JumpinJaxs470748 So Sorry. God bless you.

  • @MrDelchaz you made me sad and happy in one sentence !! me too

  • I moved up to Scotland in 1980 and I knew i was coming home. That evening I saw Runrig on the local TV for the first time and they blew me away. They sang in Ghallic and although I didn't understand the words the energy of the music sent shivers down me.

One day I will die here and be at peace.

  • I moved up to Scotland from England in 1980. I knew I was "coming home". That evening on the local TV I saw Runrig for the first time and they blew me away. They sang in Ghallic and I didn't understand the words but the energy gave me shivers and this is home now.

My days will end here and I will be at peace.

  • Going Home is one of the songs which will be played at my funeral, Although I hope it will not be in the near future. As on That day I will be going home to my Sweetheart Robin who passed away 9 years ago.

  • @torfootlass what a beautiful thing to say god bless you sir I shall remember those words

  • @torfootlass hope you all meet ,your in my thoughts.

  • @torfootlass sorry for your loss. It's such an emotional and lovely song. I have very fond memories of lying in bed and hearing this song being played from my dads old record player. I will be playing it at his funeral on Wednesday.

  • I was there, Going home had the audience and the band in tears. Absolute magic

  • @slapaddy you and me both, plus the gig in Manchester at the Apollo where there was an almost half hour encore :)

  • Greatest band of all time.Mind you I am biased.

  • Grandmother Helen, we wish we had gotten a chance to met and talk while we were on this plane together but now we are able to because we no longer have to follow the artificial rules that this human plane dictates. With much respect your Granddaughters Michele & Emma

  • I agree.....Donnie is way better.

Next time I see him, Im going to ask the chances of him getting back with Runrig.

  • I asked him a few weeks ago, sadly I got that shy wee smile and "nice idea but I don't think so"

  • Now thoughts turn to Christmas, Donnie reminds me There's no place like Home!

  • Rest in Peace Simon, gone but not forgotten..... Your home now.... :-(

  • Amazing track, always wells the eyes

  • wow

  • The song makes me cry....

  • You should not argue and just enjoy both singers. Donnie is a great singer but he left the band 11 years ago.He would be the first to say we should all enjoy Bruce and the undubted attributes he brings to the band. Both good singers. Both very different and both singers of great quality

  • I met Donnie Munro around a year ago-

    his words were,

    "enjoy the music."

  • He is right. There is no doubt he has a brilliant but the music is paramount and it is the music and all that it brings to its listeners thats important
