  • Wouldn't be so proud of drinking that swill for New Years. And this is not a protest song. I met Tommy James with Mitch Ryder in '93 after a Val du Lacs concert. Tommy was sporting a purple Donna Karen suit and Mitch was almost comatose. I got out of there as soon as the heavy drugs came out.

  • I'm drinking cherry wine for 2012 this year! Happy New Year all!!!!

  • @girlfromharborcreek ...and everybody's gonna be so fine, drinking sweet cherry wine... :) Happy life!

  • A protest song that is one of the best songs of the sixties. It sounds as good today as did over 40 years ago. A CLASSIC!

  • Timeless and priceless..... ;-)

  • AMEN we need each other......great song Tommy

  • I saw Tommy James in concert about a year or so ago and he sang this and many more classics.

  • The 2 dislikes weren't able to make it to the Bitter End for the performance.

  • More lip-synching. LOL!

  • @SkidRowJosephine Tommy James has only been perforiming this and other songs for (this one in particular) for let me see 1967, so thats about 44 years.

  • Tommy James and the Shondells were great playing at the CNE Bandshell on Saturday, September 3rd, 2011, in Toronto, Canada. Andy Kim opened for them also was great. It was fantastic!

  • Can we get the jihadists some sweet cherry wine and some love? Think they might change their minds? Blast it from the helicopters in Afghanistan!!

  • I was 15 when I first heard this song, now Im 57. Where has the time gone ,wow

  • @ncast54 Yup. Time seems to move so slowly when it is in front of us; so fast when it is behind us.

  • what a vuice! tommy puts no effort singing.true artist.still sounds great.what an era growing up in i.would love to see the 50 & 60s style of music make a comeback.todays music is ah. ah. ah. i dont know what to say except that it is um. um.my mother told me if i cant say anything nice then dont say anything at all so im going to take her advice except to say thanks for the video

  • Great anti war song....

Everybody these days is afraid to write them....worried about their pocketbooks.

    Back then they didn't care.

I guess if a draft were to start we would get some anti war music.

I think Bruce Springsteen was the last big timer to write one....of course THE BOSS doesn't care what anybody says about his music.

  • @stpetejohnny A good anti-war song: When I'm Gone by 3 Doors Down. I think the producer of it is Christy with a 4 digit # after her name. Great Utube. Bring out the kleenex though. Also check out Moby - One of These Mornings. But you're right, there are not enough protest songs or protests against these occupations/wars. Not like the Nam era.

  • I was 7 when my older bro got the 45 (yes 45) and I loved it.I played to death.I think it was the HA that kicks it off.It was a joy to hear this live after Soooo long,I'm now 47 and I still love this song

  • My favorite Tommy James song, and it is done with perfection here from year 2000. Tommy's voice is as wonderful as ever - and I really got hand it to him, he got band members who are incredible harmonizers. Just listen to those backing vocals - they sound like they were recorded in a studio - but, according to one of the video's producers who commented on Amazon, everything is completely live. Great job, Tommy - and kudos to jwhineryjr for posting this - I may buy my own copy of the DVD!

  • When the lyrics go "Yesterday my friends were marchin out to war" genuinely brought chills to me and transported me back for a second to 69.....I just remember the mood and atmosphere brought about by the war....anxious, but wonderful time.

  • Love this song soooooo much!!! Love you Tommy James and the Shondells

  • Man such great music and memories. Thank you Tommy James.

  • I was so fortunate as a kid to hear Tommy's hits played on the radio for the 1st time. There were so many great artists but if I had to pick just ONE individual who was best at spinning a melody, it has to be him. Who else can compose a rock song in 3/4 time and make it sound like you died and went to heaven? Thanks, Tommy!

  • Great song. I love it.

  • Wow! This is my favorite protest song, and this is a great video version of it! Thank you so much.

  • So appropriate for today....

  • Great performance...right down to the back up singers

  • Tommy???? Come to the Burgh... Or New Castle,Pa..... Youngstown,Oh. SOON!!

  • He still got it. Nice performance, thanks.

  • Got to see him at the San Diego Fair...he loves what he does and it shows! One of the very best!!!

  • They were great in their day and even now....fantastic......

  • Tommy always uesd the open chord tuning on his quitar and he still do after all those years. His voice is still amazing and he still sings these old songs with the same feeling

  • Wow what a great sound! So rare to get that sound at at a gig! What a talent. Thanks for the post!

  • It just doesn't get any better.

  • Excellent !!!

  • "And the beauty of life can only survive if we love one another". True then. True now.

  • Love it! Thanks!

  • Thanks for the great music TJ........
