It is very likely that this is not him (another singer Makki sang this). It is likely he never converted. But how do you know that it is a lie? It has not been confirmed in either direction.

Islam is not an active agent that needs to make up a story about MJ. There are sentimental people who may like to believe he converted. But no one should assume he was/was not a Muslim without legit proof.
