To this day, the Pope is STILL superior to all "kings" and "queens" even if they are not Catholic. Its just a fact. A fact that some may not want to accept, but it is a fact nonetheless.
Ha! Henry keeps condemning and spreading lies about the Pope. Henry said the Pope was a heretic, but the only REAL heretic is Henry himself. Henry was a cruel and heartless dictator. That troublemaking whore Anne Boleyn was the one who started all the bullshit. Everything she convinced Henry to do was a huge mistake. Weather he liked it or not and weather he believed it or not, the Pope was superior to him.
@28804ecorrell Henry was looney as a toon at that point and as he killed Thomas More, Cardinal Fisher, and then Katherine and Cromwell, he became less and less able to see reality for what it really was, that is, that the Pope was the final check on the divine right of kings. And I do agree with you that Anne was the one who started it all and then kept it going as long as it benefited her.
I live in Kleve (Cleves). The view you see at 5:20 is the view i see when sit on my terrace. Hollywood put the real Castle into the scene. It's the Swan Castle how it is looking today (it was for the most part distruied in World War II by accident, the pilots of the RAF bombers thought they flew over the Ruhrgebiet and dropped the bombs), but with an wall and gate infront produced at the computer.
@imsexy400 sorrie. not impossible. youtube ban certain scenes owning to copyright issues which they can since The Tudors legallly belongs to Showtime. Why don't you buy/rent the DvDs instead?
the actor was too vain to play the part accurately. Keith Mitchell nailed it back in the 70s, going from a handsome, virile young man to a diseased, fat old bugger
@Hagazussa56 Agreed. That performance was stellar. This is a Hollywood Harry Tudor Court. The Keith Mitchell performance is tantamount to the 70s BBC's "Elizabeth R" with Glenda Jackson. It will never be out done.
I just don't get why they had to make everyone on this series look like a modern fashion model. I find it insincere and off-putting. I mean, I know they wanted people to enjoy the series, but..what's wrong with a little realism? I keep trying to watch it but my interest keeps wavering because it's hard to take it seriously.
@pookoos Hollywood sell-outs. Try the BBC's Henry VIII with Keith Mitchell; and, Elizabeth R (Glenda Jackson)--both created by BBC in the 1970's. This Showtime Soap Opera is a joke in comparison and insult to the intelligence of those who actually study the history of the Tudor monarchy.
@pookoos i think it's because your average viewer finds realism off-putting, just as you find the unrealistic aspects off-putting. kinda like 1950s war movies vs. modern war movies...average viewers have trouble stomaching "Saving Private Ryan" and "Born On The 4th of July", but they're fine with "Flying Leathernecks" and "Back to Bataan". Some things being too realistic upset and disgust modern viewers, and besides, shows like these aren't targeted at history buffs like us, lol =D
can anyone give me a descriptive summary of what happened in season 3? i have all the other seasons but didnt get #3 because i never really cared much for jane or anne and plus its only 8 episodes instead of 10.
although #4 changed my opinion about anne of cleves, she was actually really nice.
@dalHungryPinnaple King Henry gets a little more nuts, perceived heretics get knocked off faster than minor characters in Scorsese movies, the Germans take yet another in a long line of political cracks at England, horseback riding, Henry screams at some of his subjects while executing others, visits to the Tower of London, secret intrigues, Papist hating, Church of England gobbledygook, discussions with various foreign ambassadors. So basically the same as Seasons 1 and 2 =D =D
in real life when anne of cleves meet henry she cursed at him in german b/c he didnt tell her wat he looked like thats why he lieed bout what she looked like and said he liked her not ( he was obese and ugly)

lol @ 5:39 there's a prussian coat of arms in the background but at this time cleves was a part of the united duchies of jülich-cleves-berg. it came to prussia in the 17th century ... and by the way.. Henry should be older, fat & ugly at this time but I guess that would be strange in the sex scenes :D
What the hell is this crap!! Henry was late 40's (which was fairly old forthe time) and a fat, tyranical slob!! He also stunk due to the pus from a large boil he has on his leg. Why have they casted a good looking young man to play Henry, what awful casting. Hollywood (i mean that as a figure of speech not literally) ruin everything
Anne of Cleves is also far too pretty in this series. Though the real Anne was not ugly, by most accounts, she was described as "comely", but certainly not beautiful.

May I ask a question? Was Henry at least a good King, if he be a horrible man, husband and father? Please answer me.

LOL! He should be about 50, fat, and in no way looking like JRM! Maybe he has a picture like Dorian Gray that ages for him!
