There was a longer version of this somewhere. In it, Johnny Chan is the one who first made the going south accusation, but it was while Freddy was away. Negreanu then repeated it when Freddy came back, but what bugs me is he was completely serious, so he's a lying jackass here when he claims it was a joke. Also, Gabe mentioned they did check the cameras and foudn that Freddy did not go south.

I believe that the reason Freddy was getting so heated up over the joke is that it is quite possible somebody had a piece of him for the session. i.e. staked him for part of his buy-in. Hearing comments of Freddy going south on TV would instill doubt into that person as to wether Deeb was being honest or cheating the man out of his money. However, this is nothing but an educated guess, I do know a lot of pros get partly-staked for HSP, specially the newer, higher buy in seasons.
