I purchased Superior Drummer 2.0 and Metal Foundry, I was wondering if the Metal Foundry presets on the toontrack website come with the Metal Foundry program? Also are any of the midi packs included in the Superior Drummer 2.0 like the song writer pack? Because if not I'll purchase them from the website but I'd like clarification if I do so.

Metal Foundry is an expansion pack for Superior, so Superior is required in order to use it.

I've been recording my own metal for years using a Boss DR880 but try as I might, I just can't get the quality of metal drums I'm hearing through this setup.

My question is if I purchased superior 2.0 and then this pack could I midi-out from my DR880 into superior (with metal foundry) and play my existing loops with these badass new metal drums replacing the bland existing ones in my DR880?

So in order to be able to use the Metal Foundry...you need to have purchased Superior Drummer 2.0. But in order to use SD 2.0, you need to have purchased EZ Drummer to begin with.

Pretty awesome software, but like fuck am I spending over £350 just to make my slow ass way up to it, by buying 2 lots of software I will then not use because I'll have the better one. Stupid way of laying it out if you ask me.

mhh. i only install the first dvd form the metal foundery...but i cant find any new midi groves in my lib from superior drum?? why ..have i to install the full 35 GB PAck? or on wich dvd iare the midi files? plz help

You have to install all the five DVD:s to get all sounds. The dealer where you made your purchase should probide you with all the discs. The MIDI files are located on your Toontrack account.

it just has, ez player > ez player pro midi

and user libraries > my midifiles

actually you don't even have you use a drum kit at all to play the metal foundry cause you can use midi and stuff. but if you have a electronic kit or a module of some sort to plug triggers into and transfer it into midi and have a device that allows you to connect it to a computer. it will work just as well.

recording software. there are many available, cubase, pro tools, acid, fruity loops, etc. I use a free demo version of Reaper. its great!!

i have cubase LE, but it didnt work with ez drummer because it was not the full version of cubase. there is a reaper with ezdrummer tutorial here on youtube.

Depends on your use of it, but first and foremost it's an expansion so you'll need the superior drummer 2.0 application installed. Usually you'll need a VST or RTAS host program (I use cubase).  You can then compose using midi, or you can hook up a controller like an e-kit, drum pads or any midi compatible keyboard to lay down riffs.
