  • CAN YOU SPEAK BETTER AND PRONOUNCE BETTER DOES IT FEEL MORE FREELY??

  • this is a four year old video but thank you for it. i'm like ridiculously nervous for mine and this helped. thank you!

  • yo ma this video is love im up late night doing research on this and i came across your pretty face on this video i think its ill that your doing this tho.....ive been living with it for 21 years and its minor so it doesnt really bother me but i do notice someitmes i slur words randomly so i would like to improve my overall speech ...you say you sing, ima a hiphop artist and im hoping this can also improve my delivery what are your thoughts on that how did it help with your singing?

  • How much was the cost!?

  • Ok I am planning to do this because I 've shared too many awkward moments with exes so I wanted to ask you something. Does your tongue look weird now? I mean is there a scar left or is any tissue left? Does it look like anormal tongue anyway?

  • I wanna do this to get a tongue like Gene Simmons... Gonna get it done soon

  • lol. just had mine done yesterday. LOL

  • i had one too, yesterday and i feel really werid right now, lol it's really hard for me to eat stuff, n hard for me to pronounce S, N, W, L, stuff like that

  • i had one too, yesterday and i feel really werid right now, lol it's really hard for me to eat stuff, n hard for me to pronounce S, N, W, L, stuff like that

  • "the nurse will watch u... die" LOLOLOL!

  • About kissing, I was kissing a woman, but I wasn't sure how far my tongue went into her mouth, but she told me that my tongue is pretty long now, which seemed to arouse her, unlike the girl in my youth complaining my tongue was too short.

I can say that the surgeon had done a wonderful job in 2004, cutting my tongue-tie.

  • All she does is watch u die LMFOA its 5 in the morning im supposed to be asleep and just woke up everybody but it was worth it =))))

  • thanks for the vid, you have a very natural way, keep it up!

  • ugh,i want this done so i can get my tongue pierced but i'm scared of the pain!

  • hey I got this done bout 3 months ago and am happy

  • Thank you! I see this was done 3 yrs ago. How are you now? I am so glad to have seen this because my 12 yr old son needs it done. I was always afraid to have it done cause I thought it would be dangerous to cut there. As he gets older, though, his speech patterns seem sort of slurred. I don't want him to be mad at me when he's older for not having it done. thanks again. a very well done presentation.

  • Thanks for the video! I'm going to have it done in 2 hours, and I'm a bit nervous! Did it really change the way you speak? If I talk for long periods of time, I can notice difficulty with pronouncing S's and some other sounds. It's also pulling my gums down, so it's a necessary procedure for me. I told the doc on the initial visit that If I'm going to get this done, I want my tongue like Gene Simmons from Kiss!

  • did it make your tongue longer?

  • I want to get this done, but before I go back to school so I can talk properly again. How long did it take for your tongue to completely heal?

  • hey, I had one done traditionally about a week ago and my tongue really was more free but now that it's started to scar up in a circle shape and it feels like it's as it constricted as before.is this normal or not? can i do something about other than going to the dentist again? please respond

  • I got mine done yesterday; I was awake, and it was my first surgery and I got two stitches. I had the same symptoms, that shit is annoying. The shot didnt hurt at all for me. I NEVER GOT A PERSCRIPTION DRUG FOR PAIN. I had to eat popsicles, and Ice cream though. I talked alot.

  • do me a favor and tell ur parents i said good job thery did a fantastic job!!!! u r hella pretty

  • @elimack49 lol thanks, will do =p

  • LOL!!! 0:30 xD!!!

  • Drocker, is your tongue a lot longer now? Also, does this procedure help with studdering, cause I'm thinking about getting this procedure.

  • @absalom0412 It's not longer by much, but yes, it is a tad bit longer now.

I'm not sure if it can help correct a stutter.

  • @drocker127 did insurince cover it if not how much did it cost?

  • @absalom0412 stuttering is a mental thing, you can't have surgery. look up something called... well i can't remember, but do a google involving something about having a little speaker in your ear that plays back to you what you're saying. apparently that tricks the brain somehow and it stops stuttering.

  • @absalom0412 mateboy is talking about software that allows you to speak into a microphone and it repeats what you just said in your ear...because stutterers process speech on the wrong side of the brain. Look up axSoft Speech corrector (you can download trial register for $25) or even better, Speech Easy (there are youtube vids of it)

  • Was your method laser or traditional?

  • @kishann2 traditional.

  • very helpful

  • did you get it done with scissors, a laser, or what? i'm gonna get it done, too, and i'm really scared :/

  • Did you feel any pain??

  • not during. not immediately after. once the numbing went away it bothered and I had a headache from the pain. but the pills helped ease it/take it away for a while.

  • awesome. so you said insurance covered your surgery?? Man i sho wish it covers mine =D

  • How far could you stick your tongue out before the operation and how far can you stick it out now?

  • Great video...very informative. I'm 33 and getting this procedure done next week. I'm really hoping it will help me improve my diction. I feel like my speech is sometimes "mushy". Thanks for posting this!

  • stick your tounge all the way down!!!!!! lol.

  • At that time i couldn't do that cause i couldo of ripped the stitching, my skin wasn't even put back.

  • I didn't do it either, until the stitches were gone, the wounded was completely healed. When sticking out the tongue, I wanted to be sure that I didn't damage anything. Later on I noticed that I could stick out the tongue farther than before the operation.

  • I had a very similar experience 4 years ago, much like the girl is explaining in the video. I think my surgeon used a laser but I only had Ibuprofen 600, not the other meds the girl got. I did some tongue exercices taken from the Internet. In the beginning that hurt but later on it hurt less.

My speech changed a bit. My l is a bit too long and my r (when speaking foreign languages, other than Dutch) thrills better. I can stick the tongue way farther out.

  • please don't take offense..lol but what ethnicity are you? (i.e. hispanic? black? white) just wondering. lol

  • okay, umm, i have a few questions...

    1. do you need parental concent?

    2. does it cost any money? if so how much

    3. did u just go to a dentist, or were u refered to a surgeon?

    4. can u stick ur toung out farther now??

PLEASE respond, i really wana get this done

  • 1. Not sure

    2. It has to cost money. Not sure how much because it was under insurance

    3. My dentist is who referred me to a surgeon at another location.

    4. Yes

  • did U need parental concent? im 16, i wonder if ill need concent. but otherwise thank u so much for this information.. it was a great help

  • lol, back again, i had mine done like about 5 months back now, it didnt hurt.. the part that hurt was the 2nd needle freezing it, and since my tongue was froze all i kept thinking was "im gonna swallow my tongue".. just stay with antibiotics, &i wouldnt try mouthwash (:

  • What happens if you have a vein under your tongue?

I have a vein and I'm scared to get it cut, what if I can't feel anything after? ):

  • i felt the laser and I could see smoke so scary loool hurt for like a week

  • thanksssss!

    i'm 14.

    getting it in two days.

and i'm like hyperventalating i'm so scared!

but this made me feel better.

i panicked when i saw the pills cuz i can't take pills eitherrr.

haha. so that made me feel good that you ground em up too.

    thanks.

    i feel much better now!

  • =) good, I'm glad this made you feel better. You'll be fine.

  • yes it did =/ but not much to complain since my whole mouth wasn't in a good state. That's when the meds came in.

  • thanks so much for your video.

ive been looking for info about this everywhere, i have an appointment monday to see what they can do. i feel better knowing how the procedure goes, but scissors and a blade!! :S

  • wednesday i'm having my lingual frenectomy'

    youve made me less nervous-

thanks for your video :) your great!

  • okay :) thanks. i guess the sooner the better. did your tongue feel like, floppy after it had been cut? o.o

  • Mine did, it took me about 3 hours till i could pronounce my "S's"

  • mkay. monday im goingg to see a doctor about having it done. i know you said that its just the needles thats like bites right? hm. well. i was just worried, because like i'm 12? and if it doesn't go right i'll be like really scared. how long did it take to like get the operation date? o.o thankss.

  • who ever your going to see about it, ask them how to go about getting the procedure done. and who to see etc. all the information that you'll need. it was all done by appointment but i chose to get it done during a vacation from school. no need to be afraid because its about 5 min surgery.

  • thats a different procedure. youre talking about gettin the tissue between your upper lip and upper teeth done right? if it is then i can't help you with that since that's not the procedure i had done. the procedure i got done did nothing besides extend my tongue.

  • hmm how much it costs... good question, i didnt pay for it =p

I dont know where you heard that from i dont think its true. you can swallow your tungue any other way as well

  • i had amoxi before i had to take 2 a day cuz i had a root canal

  • =D "I want to break freEEE!!!"

On a serious note, my tongue wasn't so terrible prior to the surgery. It wasn't severe like I had a lisp and couldn't speak properly. I got it done because my dentist recommended it and I was considered "tongue tied". After time, it took some getting used to, but yes I would say it's a liberating feeling...mouth wise lol. I can pronounce clearly and I'm not mumbling like I used to.

    But here's a plus...french kissing is 10x more better ;)

  • i stumbled upon this video and really want to commend you for making it. it must've been really scary for you, and i can only imagine how hard it was to have limited movement and affected speech. congrats and thanks for being brave.

  • how do u get this done my tounge is super short and my frenulem is wayyy too long i cant touch the top of my mouth without closing my mouth =/

  • Well i was at a regular dentist check up, and she told me to get this procedure done anf that it was an optional procedure.... she referred me to an oral surgeon and he took it on from there.

  • Wow, I can imagine a gene simmons tongue with ten stiches. Can your tongue go past your chin? A lot of people don't like that long of a tongue, but I think it's pretty cool.

  • I had the same thing done in January and it made my speech even worse.

  • Yeah, for some reason I feel like I mumble a lot more than I used to. How did it make your speech worse?

  • The Frenum went to the tip of my tounge and they had a mistake and they didn't cut all the way through the frenum to detach it and what not. So now my tounge held in my mouth even more.

  • Like her tongue, my tongue was much more free. I did some tongue excercises from the Internet, and I can stick out my tongue about 3 cm (more than an inch) farther than I used to.

  • Eating was a problem, so I only ate and drank fluid things. Brushing my teeth was not a problem, the paste did not hurt the surgery wound. When eating my tongue made moves that it wasn't supposed to do so I got tongue muscle pain.

  • The first few hours I could not speak well. My speech was like that of someone that is drunk. After some more hours my tongue started hurting but my speech was normal again.

  • ok so i was wong about the video in a million years lol

  • haha ur such a nugget. FIRST VIDEO IN A MILLION YEARS! that sounds like its not fun tho. I'm glad youre all better. Nice seeing you again neeny weeny.
