I rode this before. It felt like I was in a bottle that was shaken vigorously. Rough!!! I will not ride it again. It gave me a migrane. I like the Beast a lot better. This ride is not for the faint of heart. I love coasters! Just not this one.

SoB is undergoing a $7M~ layout and track reworking. The ride will only be the same up to the top of the lfit hill. Everything after the lift hill (including the first drop) will be torn down and completely redone, this time using higher quality Intamin track, instead of the cheap, prefab Intamin track it used before. The ride will be much smoother, and the new layout will completely eliminate previous problem areas. The coaster is due to reopen summer 2012.

I was 7 it was night time at about 11:45 (when they used to always close at midnight)

And I just love how literally the entire train would say, "Ohhh!!!" As they go through the turn after the break run that enters the loop.

The Loop isnt and wasnt Steel it had Steel beams to support the Wood from leaning/Breaking there wasnt a piece one of Steel besides the Breaks and the Train and Chain on this Coaster but they took it out due to problems with the Trains and the Loop broke also i heard.

The Beast and the Son of the Beast are both dangerous rides. Considering the fact that they had to take the loop out of the Son of the Beast due to causing neck pains, back pains, etc. And recently, I saw on the news that they had to shut down the Beast due to people getting whiplash from the ride being too shakey. I think they need to modernize the wooden roller coasters if they want to keep them in the park.. Either that, or re-build them. :/

Well, Son of Beast was special with a metal loop, but after that 2006 incident it was necessary to remove the loop to prevent structure problems and to be able to run conventional wooden roller coaster trains. It was such a great ride! I rode it in 2004 in the evening with the loop. Overall I like wooden coasters more... such a thrill and it's all shakey and unpredictable. The length of the ride is fantastic too.

well it didnt start to break...i just went there today actually LOL and they took the loop out because it was metal and the rest was wood and when it was going onto the loop from the wood to the metal ppl where getting wiplash and hurt bad so they took it out and changed from the cars for metal tracks to the ones for wooden tracks [because they had better shocks to fit the bumpy ride] and yes its smoother but my neck still hurts :P

nope it had nothing to do with the loop itself. The loop was taken out because they added lighter trains to the track, which were not safe going through the loop. Apparently these new trains make the ride smoother, but I have not been there (yet) to check it out in person. When I went laster year it was still closed :(

NO, the loop was removed because of an accident in the first helix. A piece of wood cracked and caused a huge jolt in the train, causing minor injuries. The trains that ran on the ride prior to the accident were designed for the loop and were too heavy for the rest of the ride. After the accident the park decided to remove the loop for lighter trains. Their was NO problems with the loop.

You guys think Son of Beast is bad? Try riding the Rattler when it first came out. People got whiplash going down the first hill. The damn thing looks like it could splinter because it sways like a suspension bridge. I rode it recently. People say you could break your bones in the early days of it. The rattler wasn't originally payed for by Six Flags. I was payed for by an insurance company, called U.S.A.A. You have go to ride The Rattler.
