  • Simply Wonderful!

  • This hit #1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart for 2 weeks in 1977

  • You blessed man. I was looking for the same. I think I got John Travolta!

  • Gosh .... she is so beautiful and I was so infatuated and in love with her when I was a teenager! The way she sings makes me weep even as a grown man today. It's almost 35 years later and she still has that effect on me ..... I don't know if it's fate or the mysterious way in which love works its magic ... I found my partner/wife who looks so much like Olivia (even though I was not consciously searching for a similar look) ... I guess I really luck out!

  • Que emoção , demais isso !!

  • Just great

  • this song has always rang in my mind since childhood i love it

  • A far cry from the drug induced, foul mouthed, tatooed and underwear missing brutes known as todays women performers.

  • @gczwarkiel, ever so true. It is nice when a lady can let her talents speak for themselves.

  • This is such a beautiful, sad yet hopeful song ... and the piano flourish with the background singers near the end drive me up a wall !

  • Wow her smile back then looked so natural and wholesome, like Linda Evans' smile. I wonder what she's like today, if she's still so natural and wholesome or if she's been corrupted by feminism? Anyone know?

Btw, look at the feeling on her face when she's singing the song "Sam". It's so expressive and genuine. You never see that kind of emotion on today's singers.

  • She is the best!

  • Oh how I wanted to be Sam.

  • By far the best song she ever recorded.

  • omg flutter flutter,olivia i love you!!!

  • love this one !!

    sammy

  • sweetest voice of all time!!! One of my all time favorite songs.

  • like it... lovely song from a lovely lady...

  • I love you Olivia!!!!!!

  • THANKS! AWESOME for sharing!

  • wat a babe...she helped me thru my adolescent teens...i am hopelessly addicted to you...you're the one that i want...you gave me thrills that kept multiplying...and i lost my control..

  • Excelente el recuerdo , SAM..clasico entre las canciones romanticas y que coloco a Olivia en el estrellato de las cantantes mas populares de los años 70.

  • i love it!!!!!!!

  • Olivia, If you are out there. I've always loved you and now you know where I am.

  • she was i beautiful and a lovely singer great song

  • I have always loved this song--some friends of mine have said they'd never heard it. But I remember it well from 1977,and was glad to find it here! Thank you!

  • Beautifully sung, and one of the best outros on a pop song - ever.

  • This is lovely.

  • Terrific Bacharachian melody

  • I've seen this episode of rewind on channel V! I started loving olivia after seeing this olivia special!

  • @tjbedista

Rewind was my favourite show on Channel V & Maynard (the host) made the show very entertaining!! I haven't watched Channel V since they axed it =(

The Olivia special was quite amazing with her appearing on the show with him (& also the Leo Sayer special) ... both showing some rare clips!!

  • she,s beautiful....and a great singer..

  • Brilliant!

  • The piano at 2:52 is so TERRIFIC ... it had better be, to interrupt this beautiful girl, with the beautiful voice.

  • Written by Don Black and Hank Marvin (of the Shadows)

  • Really nice song, well done.

  • a very old song, but I love him so much!

    ;o)

  • I absolutely love this song, the words and melody beautifully done by Olivia. Adding to my faves;-)

  • Can't believe it only peaked at #20 in the Billboard Top 100 in the US. It was a smash hit in Mexico.

Thanks for the memories retro!

  • Keep in mind that "Yellow Submarine" was not a #1 US hit, and "Penny Lane' was not a #1 UK hit; it's really hard to climb the charts ... I did hear that Olivia was the top selling (overall) individual female artist of the seventies ...

  • Great song. Great babe.

  • Throughout 1975, Olivia Newton John's number one hit, "Have You Never Been Mellow" was receiving substantial airplay throughout America. Very few believed Olivia could equal or top that success. But just two years later, Olivia released "Sam," a melancholy ballad that stood alone as one of the greatest, but most underrated songs of all time. Mysteriously, it only peaked at #20 in the Billboard Top 100. To this day, very few remember one of the world's greatest masterpieces ever, in "Sam."

  • Newton-John's 1974 #1 hit, "I Honestly Love You" was also receiving substantial airplay as well in the states, but if even though this song didn't hit it big in the states, many of Olivia's U.S. fans (such as me) did pay attention to this masterpiece of hers. (What I can't believe, many times, that this is the same woman who would soon enough be giving us sush hits and vids as "Physical", "Make A Move On Me" & "Heart Attack" -- she looks so innocent and naive on this vid).

  • Olivia Newton-John is almost unbeleivable but aren't we all glad she is real

  • I love this song, I love this woman, what a voice !

  • Will always be my pick me upper in this crazy world during these crazy times.

  • This music is so beautiful, but somehow it always makes me feel so sad and nostalgic!!!

  • This Song Is Very Beautiful... Thank You For Placing This Video For The World To Enjoy...

  • Just another classic from the SUPER 70'S...

  • BEAUTIFUL SONG

  • great song,love it..

  • This is phenomenal footage of Olivia at her best and as it was happening. Unfortunately, the sound quality here is extremely poor, but it was the only original recording I could find, so I still saved it to my collection. Live recordings never do any of these great 70s oldies justice. Olivia was spectacular throughout the 70s and early 80s. It was her time and no one could take it away from her.

  • This is a great song,thanks

  • Thanks for posting

  • This originally appeared on the Midnight Special with Wolfman Jack emceeing the show and i will never forget when she appeared at about 12:30 am that morning with this blue flowing gown so aprkling and looking a star and how i wanted to be a star too and gave that feeling to so many back then when the world was looking at how a star is born cause man she proofed modern day stars can be made .Wolfman stated,This is one of wolfman's favorite singers, here is Olivia Newton -John
