You is very helpful and intelligent fellow Don Bernard we is need more men like you My God alcohol has been the ruin of the Pertinent1! - this is why Allah is turn him into a lizard no? ... but how to give up such a fine thing ... you have any advice in this regard? ... or a poem or something? ...
i had a glass of white wine tonight. im relaxed, i didnt need it, but its nice and im goin to try and meditate. ive felt blocked the past two days. so im going to give it a go! hey, god bless brother!
@brijeshdevadatha Thank you for your support! I think when it comes to food and alcohol harmonizing with one's spiritual practices, it's on a case by case basis. There are many monks that drink alcohol....that's how they created drunken style kung-fu lol Just as there are some people - like myself - that benefit greatly from eating beef. I think it is up to the individual to decipher what elements are working for or against their body...
@piotruccini They can be used to go into subtler realms of consciousness. I think they are best used with a guide who can facilitate people through the process....
Thank you. Like you I drink rarely and have never really had a desire to drink other than for social reasons. Now that I am on a path of conscious awareness, I am looking for things to let go off and depend on spirit (higher self) to take care of my social networking. Namaste.
Who else has experience with this? Is it the same with all alcohols? Was it the intake of alcohol or was it drinking to the point of being hung over? I am just beginning to experiment with gnosis and have been drinking heavily all summer. Peace brother; good luck in your quest and be blessed!
Alcohol on the body is different for everyone. Some people can handle drinking with minimum effects. Others, like myself, just need to stay away altogether :) Peace....
Even a little alcohol messes up my mindfulness meditation for hours. But Chögyam Trungpa (the famous Tibetan meditation master) used to drink a lot, and so did Alan Watts.
I find cannabis doesn't interfere with my meditation as much, but it's definitely better to be sober. Just keeping the mind on the breath & present moment is enough
I agree. Being 18 I drink about once a week and every time I get sober I feel my consciousness lower and its harder to meditate. One good way I overcome the alcohol after effects is through using some sort of katharsis medition. Look at a pure blue sky (in your minds eye and say "Aahh" releasing your negative energy and thoughts. Repeat till you feel pure again.
Hey Don :) hahaha no wonder when i've tried to meditate drunk it doesn't work :P wow, as if you drink that little, i wish i could cut down drinking like that, but being an 18 year old, drinking alcohol's not really something i can avoid! :( the thought of astral travel shits me up too, what gave you the courage to first finally do it?
buy what i learn is that drinking alcohol can help a lot in Meditation. but to much will hurt the only trick is to know how much to drink. but before trying to experiment you should first go to an expert. jesus drank wine its not strong and have stuff in it thats suppose to be good fore your hart. but how much of it did he drink. no one really knows.
But some monks in tebet still drink wine. they may know how much.
I'm not interested in drinking anything, but for those who are I say go for it! I do believe moderation is key in all things; that is if it is not too damaging to your system in the first place.

I couldn't agree more. Alchool helps me to get into that state of deep meditation that leads to astral travel. It happened to me two days ago, my body became numb and I felt that electric sensation when i tried to move, unfortunatelly i was interrupted and couldn't accomplish it. What exactly scared you that time you tried? Was it only the paralisys feeling or something else?
The paralysis doesn't scare me. It's the whirling motion that makes me feel I have lost all control, and I've found it hard to surrender to it sometimes.
I've found everything you've talked about so far very interesting because we share alot of similarities, i've had similar experiences with tying to have obes the first time i tried the tech told by monroe, & i felt the vibrations & actually began to seperate from the body starting with my right leg, however like you this scared me quite alot & i had to stop, since then i have obed but only from the sleep state, gotta get over the fear.
I agree with you buddy, I have given up alcohol this year after having major surgery and losing one of my salivary glands. After my surgery, I would get sick and hungover from a lot less alcohol than i used to, and I am much more in tune with my body these days so the negative effects are startling.
Believe me it has NOT been easy ... hanging out with friends at cottages and stuff and being the only one not drinking is HARD at first but I KNOW that it is for the best and eventually I will get used to it ...
It sounds like you have accomplished alot in meditation. I think drinking has to do with numbing the sensation of not being in touch with spirit or trying to locate spirit through alcohol.
Believe me, I am used 2 drinking and can tell you straight up ... alcohol is poison. Period. Because of our society we have attached positive thoughts and ideas towards alcohol when in reality alcohol is directly or indirectly responsible for killing tens of thousands a year and effecting the lives of MILLIONS around the world.
true...it is socially accepted...which isn't necessarily a bad thing, in my opinion...it has its uses...
I was referring to how it affected don bernard's meditation...and since he rarely drinks, it would throw his equilibrium off...
I meditate and drink alcohol...usually not at the same time, but I don't see it interfering with my meditations...I guess it just depends on the person...
p.s. don't get me wrong ... i'm not anti-alcohol or anything , I'm sure for many it does have its uses and can help people get over shyness, etc BUT in my humble opinion ... if we truly wish to reach higher states of awareness and higher states of consciousness ... alcohol should not be part of our diet ... (believe me it's not been an easy choice for me ;) :P)
I know what you mean by "just cause you don't "see" it interfering doesn't mean it isn't"...I guess it would be hard to tell...
meditating is a more blissful sensation than drinking...but I think living life as a human is about the experiences and sharing of the light...and we are lucky enough to be able to partake in such joyful activities...as long as they don't cause more harm than good, its cool by me...

You seem like a great guy. When you talk about out of body experiences, are these things that literally happen, or are they a state of mind?

Hi
I reached a higher level of conciousness in my life by doing the one minute meditation and directly after that I chant the "kleem" Mantra.
But the last two days I was very drunken and it seems like it is all gone.I falled back in old habits. Everyone has to learn by experience.
So i try to minimize my alcohol consumption to a minimum.
Has anyone experience with Cannabis???
I just wanted to tell you, when I saw your video and looked into your eyes I just started grinning very brightly :)
