  • I had a chance to get one of these at a yard sale last year but I passed cause i knew about how many batteries it uses.

  • I EAT BATTERIES LIKE LORD KARNAGE EATS A SANDWICH! MAKEUP I APPLY WITH HAMMER.

  • @ouchmyknee Lolll

  • Frank, you aren't Mohammed but we love you too.

  • Does anybody remember the little TV tuner adapter you could plug into the game gear?

  • I usually don't thumb up these videos, just because there's so many and if any one is subbed to me they're sub box will just be spammed with infinite game videos, but when you said " You could put a chain there and wear it around your neck. Like a giant clock" lost it.

  • i swear i played this game yesterday!

  • at my retro game store sonic for genesis is 10 dollars and mk2 is 7

  • Had one of these as a kid. Ecco, Tale Spin, Sonic (which I didn't like much), Star Wars, Alladin....Good times. My parents quickly bought rechargeable batts for this. I remember it being a LOT more vibrant though. Surprising that age is so unkind to those liquid crystals. Something to note between this and the original GB, not only was GB's screen an ugly green and black, it also has ghosting issues. Game Gear's screen was more crisp and didn't have that problem in action games.

  • i still hav my gamegear

  • ads!

  • ooo i remember some sweaty palms and hours of mortal kombat on that beast

  • I have this with an adapter that u plug into the wall so u dont need battery :) i used that when i was a kid, cus there was no way i could afford 6 AA:s every 1.5 hours

  • thumbs up if your watching this in 2012

  • i still have my Game Gear from when i was about 11 or 12 (although i do want to add that i was born in 96 so i didn't really get to enjoy the Game Gear in the 90s) but anyways, unfortunately the screen on it finally went out. hopefully when i get enough money for a replacement screen that will be the only problem with it

  • @kmoss1122 I guarentee it will not fix it. You will need to replace the capacitors in it.

  • @TheCIScommander what voltage would i need to buy?

  • I think it should also be noted that the screen was back-lit. That didn't happen for nintendo hand helds until the advance SP

  • my dad threw away my game gear by accident...

  • it's hard to believe that a sega fanatic even likes nintendo

hat's down inecom, while you don't compare nintendo stuff to them, i really appreciate how you can like sega's nemesis

  • o game boy comparado ao game gear era uma bosta. o game gear tinha até televisão

  • @luccamurtoon Why are you speaking portuguese?

  • @johnrock882, because it was popular in brazil...

  • @NeCacaluXuxultic but this video isnt in portuguese so people should comment in english.

  • @johnrock882, yeah but not all people speak English and always end up in videos of a different language. I know most of what he is saying and he is saying that the Gameboy compared to a GameGear was a "bosta" which I have NO IDEA what that word is. He also that the game gear had a Television. Anyway, I always end up in Turkish videos... dunno what teh F*** they are saying XD!.. so I comment in english hoping ONE OF THEM speak English XD

  • As much as I love my old Game Gear. I find just emulating the Game Gear on my PSP far more enjoyable than using the actual system, and this way I can finally play the portable Lunar that was teased at us so many years ago :3

  • U mad bro? Nomad.

  • Este game quando lançou. Era muito caro

  • I got mine for a great deal. I got mine for $10 at a Good Will. Had both battery covers, and the little cover for the extention port. Speaker is blown out and needs replaced, shame, screen is faded, but still viewable. Has some power issues when first turning it on but a little messing with the switch and its fine. Over all, good deal for $10. It also came with Prince of Persua (sp?) in it when I got it. Bonus. :D

  • I just bought one for £20!!!!!

  • sega sm 4000 ooo may god it plays every sega genesise game ever man the are instaled ther the sell dise in israel i want to get wan i live in israel

  • Awesome I used to have one back in the day

  • I'm getting my new game gear on Thursday. It has a case, 22 games, and has 2 different adaptors for 100 dollars!

  • i saw a Sega Game Gear But It Was $400!!!! UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!! Plus the only game on the game gear i saw was mortal kombat 2

  • @Bulkymuscleman What?!?! That's expensive!

  • Could make a game room tour?

  • My brother came home from a friend's house and handed me a big carrying case. I asked him what was inside and he said that it was a Sega Game Gear. My head exploded when he said that his friend didn't want it anymore.

  • you can put it on a chain and wear it like a clock. lol!

  • This was the first game system I ever owned when i was a kid. I played echo the dolphin for hours.

  • Let's face it this is the best portable gaming console ever

  • I got this in '06 and the first game I got was Sonic The Hedgehog 2!

  • mine has very low sound ....

  • weren't these things ripped on back then for giving people seizures?

  • OMG old things are old!!!!! SHOCKED!

  • I once met someone who had this System and it was so awesome. It blew my mind, especially since it had color and the Guy also had an Antenna Adapter to watch TV on it. This thing was 20 Years ahead of its time. Not to mention that it played the regular Games you could also play on the big Systems. I so would love to see something like this today.

  • i am a sega fananic too XD

  • Both the game gear and nomad were underrated. The gameboy imo was the shittiest video game console ever, it looked so bad.

  • @FireGuyX

yeah but the gameboy was affordable, and had good games, sure it was inferior to the game gear and nomad, but both were overpriced, besides shittiest?,nah, that title belongs to virtual boy.

  • Thumbs up if you still have a Sega Game Gear

  • @MSUser2007 ive got the master system adapter too.

  • Nice! i got mine recently, it came with 4 Games

  • larger numbers are just what I need because I have Aniridia

  • which game(s) were usually bundled with the game gear when it was released?

  • @hollowwinds666 first of all your not the boss of me! Second of all I think nintendo is the choice of games and I don't care if you don't

    Like nintendo.

  • Look you punk @hollowwinds666 I talking to the person that made this video not YOU YOU stay I

out of it dweeb keep talking big i'll talk about sega shit head and your stupid sonic x fan>:(

  • im glad that sega are gonna release game gear games on 3ds virtual consol

  • i have a dumb question does this have a backlit screen

  • @tinyNinja3 Yes it does

  • I don't think I ever used batteries for mine. good ol' ac adaptor...I brought you everywhere a plug was available to me. =P

  • i got a gamegear for 7 bucks with ac adaptor

  • ""

  • no it's hard to try and even find one at cheapest $40

  • I remember getting this for Christmas the year it came out. It was awesome unwrapping it because I didn't think I would get it. I felt like Ralphie from "A Christmas Story" that year. Ahh Christmas was fun as a child, now it's just a headache.

  • I just got one of these. And i mostly play on it during the lunch break in school. But i never have any room in my bag for my home work. Its always full of dead batteries.... And well.. Games...

Btw do you have any batteries???......

  • This thing was so brick, but omg i loved it.

  • Nintendo kicks butt.

  • Really dude that stupid piece of junk should throughn in the garbage>:( I hate sega especially the game gear, kiss my asssssssssss. If I were you I would recommend the gameboy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @OmarSuperMario1000 Where the heck in the title does it say anything about nintendo or gameboy? If your just a nintendo fan boy trying to come to a sega video and start shit up with sega fans then dont even waste your time cause it isnt worth it. Bottom line is not going to say anything decent and your just going to downgrade yourself then dont even bother watching the video at all.

  • I'm sorry, but its just not fair to say that the Game Gear's barry life is anything like the Nomad's. Sure, they both suck batteries like a hoover, but you're lucky if the Nomad lasts for an hour. The Game Gear can last around 4 hours, so it IS somewhat portable. The Nomad is barely more portable than an actual sega genesis.

  • With some new capacitors and some screen polishing this game gear will look like new. And where do you get its cartridges for just 1 dollar?? total bargain

  • I I just bought a mint one on Ebay with several games and extras!

  • A more portable solution is an Android phone with emulators, an iControlPad or two and you're all set lol

  • THANK JESUS FOR EMULATORS!!!

  • @theblackphenom98 Yes, but a true fan, knows that emulation is never the real deal ;)

  • I have 2 of them a blue and black and 33 games for them!!

  • I had a Game Gear, it looked great (in comparison with my Gameboy) but when you could get about...2 hours of Tennis it made it kind of redundant.

  • Also, Mark, where did you get your mic that u talk into that u put up to the game gear, I've been lookin for one of those.

  • I have 2 Game Gears, they both don't work :( atleast one was free and the other was a dollar and it came with a game.

  • You should have mentioned that it plays Master System games

  • @RazorBeamz OMG it is????? sorry dude. i didn't get a game gear when i'm little (i don't know why but i got a gameboy)

  • You couldn't tell me shit when I had my game gear in the mid-90's. I would be like fuck Mario, I got Sonic!

  • @earlmccormick88 BZZT *batteries die*

  • I was lucky enough to get this at a yard sale a few years ago for around twenty bucks with a whole bunch of accessories and games.

  • old PSP

  • @Blackenedbarman the precursor to the PSP

  • oh my God! I was very young when my grandma give me one of this!!! :) i'm 25 years old now :D

i put somewhere in the house, i go to search :D :D

  • i want this now.where can i buy

  • @LaSeanCamry215 interwebz

  • home a lone was my favorite game on thi8s

  • There used to be an adapter to allow you to play master system games on it. Epic

  • I went on Amazon to search up on the Game Gear games that I used to have then when I saw the Title for Sonic Chaos, ''Sonic Chaos: By Nintendo.

    WT****

  • at 3:44

wats that slot for? looks like a usb port

  • @hom3r Thats a serial port. I believe it would function as a multiplayer connector thingy :)

  • @JordanMillns oh thanks for reply :D

  • OHH, I MISS MINE

  • I have my old Game Gear, Bust-A-Move, Tazmania, and Sonic The Hedgehog 2 with me.

  • I bought one of these.

  • damm it is cheap if I got this my mom won't be piss off I spend $75 on my noman

  • I was lucky enough to find a Game Gear brand new in a sealed box but the old one I have still works. I've got a sealed original GameBoy and Atari Lynx but have yet to get a TurboExpress that is sealed in box. I do have one that works well too. I'm looking for games for the Game Gear and there's quite a selection.

  • I still have mine (and I have the Sonic game he showed), with the rechargeable battery pack (which is bigger than a game boy by itself) attached. The thing is so heavy that it actually screws into the back of the system to keep it in (you can see the hole on the back where it goes). The combination of the two is a beast.

  • game gear shat all over the game boy in every way

  • i just got one today if came with a game of choice i got sonic 2

  • @Idontlikedogs1010 I think it was $199

  • How much where they when they where first released? does anybody know?

  • I think its as big as the PSvita.

  • @robertxtm Except this is better and cheaper

  • i still have mine! nothing for it, but i got it!

  • I saw one of these at goodwill yesterday. No power adapter, no games, scratched up, and the batteries that were left in it looked like they had been leaking for years. They wanted $20 for it.

  • @s41793 i bought a sealed one for $30

  • @s41793 i see that everytime i go to goodwill i think the only reason why i go is just to look for old school games (i got a gameboy color and a some games over there it just costed me 8 dollars with a pokemon case!)

  • @cooly1v56 yep, really the only reason why I ever go there. usually there's nothing good, but sometimes they have some good stuff, like a couple jaguar controllers i found there a few weeks ago.

  • @s41793 Should have given it a home. At least you would be able to say that you have one.

  • @JmanBan3 When I get one, I'll find one for cheaper with a charger and a stack of games.

  • i might get one on ebay

  • Nostalgia'd so hard. I had one of these growing up, and I was born in 1989. I mean, until I got a GBC, I played this badboy ALL the time. Mickey's magical adventure was a game I always remember as being great.

  • awww i just threw mine away :-( well i have the game !

  • Just bought the japanese light blue game gear

  • The only sega system I heard of was only the dreamcast

  • I used to have this when I was younger, and played lion king on it haha.

  • @LadyJonesXXVII yuuuup! haha i actually have tht game on my sega game gear wich is blue

    , really fun.

  • @153freddy1 Nice, its cool that you actually still have yours.

  • just picked 1 of these up on ebay for $30.50 comes with 14 games and the ac adapter cant wait to get it

  • i had it

  • The thing about the Game gear is that most of the games are also on the master system. I'd rather just buy the Master system version.

  • Have you heard of the powerback? it's lighter than 6 AA batteries, charges, and lasts 6-8 hours.

  • i got my gamegear for 40.00 used with no games

  • still got mine!!!

  • 3:33 for some reason i laughed really hard at this.

  • Go Frank.

  • My gamertag is Sega Game Gear

  • i bought one yesterday at a game xchange in OKC in its original carrying case with the battery pack that goes on the back and the ac adapter and also it came with the magnifier that clicks over the screen. i got all of that and 3 games for FIFTEEN DOLLARS!!!!!

  • Too bad they did not release thinner models along the years. Maybe Game Gear would then have had a longer life span.

  • glad to see its still Alive

    i remeber when i was 12 i bought one. and now i am 30

  • thumbs up for dreamcast 2 or game gear 2

  • if you thought the fucking gameboy was too big to fit in your pocket.......

  • @fctar

Believe it or not, it lasted 35 F*CKIN' HOURS!!!!!

  • The game gear is a portable master system using the same dev kits

  • I had a gamegear and I pretty much always ran it with the ac adapter and the car cigarette lighter adapter. It was nice for road trips because you could play it at night. I think I still would've rather had a gameboy.

  • I had one of these and a Gameboy too. Both wicked. Ate batteries like a mother fucker. Had Sonic, Monaco GP, Factory Panic, Mckey Mouse, Ax Battler etc.

  • This made me not want to buy a Dreamcast. Sega stopped making the GameGear and games the minute I bought one. I knew they would do the same with the Dreamcast. What do you know, they did.

BTW, the batteries weren't a problem. It came with a power pack, which if I remember correctly, allowed you to both recharge your batteries, and also to play the game while you were recharging.

  • God, I love this guy!

"Roughly the same size as the equally large SEGA Nomad."

  • Has anyone realized that the Game Gear was essentially a portable Master System and the Nomad (more obviously) a portable Genesis?

  • mine was 2 dollars with everything and 9 games

  • Gameboy killed Game Gear because it had a better energy efficiency. Unfortunately, Sega was never able to figure out how Nintendo did that. Now Sega is making games for Nintendo; The bully is now sucking the victim's dick.

  • you review the Sega Master System

  • @gtafanboy32 YOU SHOULD DO i mean

  • im working on my own sega genesis portable called sega journey

  • I clicked cause sonic XD

  • "That's pretty slick"

  • I am proud to say that I owned a GG

  • @Jessica138667792782 um this is a GAME GEAR video you tard

  • you know whats weird ive had my Game Gear for a few months and im STILL on my first 6 batteries hmm maybe my Game Gear has god powers lol

  • When u said this particular machine is expensive. I felt really lucky that my pop bought this for me.

  • your voice awesome

  • Did you have a Game Boy or a Game Gear back in the day?

  • Also, nobody has mentioned that the output was actually stereo in some games (with headphones.) And the sound was really nice through headphones too! I would say even better than the Master System (Genesis in the states.) Never knew why the name was changed over here in the UK!

  • @yogibear2k10 - The Genesis was released in the UK as the Mega Drive; not Master System. If I remember correctly, the name was changed for the North American market due to some trademark dispute.

  • @rcfilms108 YEs, thanx for that! So its just the North American Mega Drives that are called Genesis then? Were the South American ones calles Mega Drives? OR did they just keep them as Genesis throughout America?

  • @yogibear2k10 - As far as I know, it was known as the Mega Drive across the planet with the one exception - obviously - being North America. I'd love to get ahold of one for my own web series. I just recently added the Game Gear to my collection. It's the blue model, and it came with 11 games, an A/C adapter, Super Wide Gear, and the carrying case.... All for $35. They're all in fantastic shape too. YES!

  • @rcfilms108 Thank you again for your info! And congratulations on your Game Gear! I have never seen a blue one before! Any vids? Would like to see what games you got and what a Super Wide Gear is! Well done!

  • @yogibear2k10 - No worries, bro. And thank you! :) My knowledge of the Game Gear is limited, but I think the blue variant was released with a Sports title. I'm not sure. There have been several different variations in Japan, such as the Coca-Cola model. It's red and has "Coca-Cola Game Gear" printed on the bottom. Way cool, but rare. No video just yet. I'm still working on the Halloween special for My Life with Sega, which is my Sega review series. A Game Gear is planned. Hahaha!

  • @yogibear2k10 - It came with a few sports games, which I seldom play. Two X-Man games, both of which suck tremendous ass. An odd-ball Mercs-like shooter called Arena Maze of Death. Cutthroat Island.... That one baffles me. Oh, and one of the absolute WORST games ever made.... Shaq-Fu. Ugh! A Super Wide Gear is an piece of glass that magnifies the screen size of the Game Gear. It's looks like a little television tube that you can attach to the Game Gear's faceplate. It works pretty well. Hahaha!

  • @rcfilms108 that was a pretty good bargain. a year or so ago, i found an auction on ebay that had two gamegears and 8 games for around 40 bucks (it even came with 12 batteries). twas totally worth it :)

  • 6 AA batteries? holy crap! I'm glad I have my iPod touch

  • @sonic2277 You mean you're glad you live in this time.

  • @sonic2277 iPod Touches are too new for me :P

  • Local game store has a broken one of these. Are they easy to fix and worth getting??

  • My older brother got this and I got a game boy. I'm happy with my decision.

  • dude game gears were the shit especially with power rangers! :D

  • Just replace the caps and its like new, its easy to do.
