Kick ass list. TPC's "Nature of the Experiment" is one of my favorite songs. I only got into that band a few months ago when I finally gave them a chance. Fan of the Subways, "Kalifornia" was one of my favorite songs for a while (like everything except the chorus build up. Love Bloc Party, "Helicopter" used to be one of my tops. "Hunting for Witches", "One Month Off" etc...

Meanwhile, you introduced me to Millencolin and The Enemy - both sound awesome.

I don't think they are number one, but I do like Air Traffic a lot, so props for mentioning them. I just wish they did more up-paced songs.

"Charlotte" (which I admittedly heard on OTH) is what got me into them. I love that song except for that stupid bridge at the end, "Your place, my place..." While "Get In Line" is like one of my favorite songs, period. Band has a lot of potential.

I don't get how bands can be "independant" when they're MTV/radio fodder, or how bands can be "alternative", which is supposed to mean alternative to the mainstream, when they're the very definition of mainstream...but hey, that's just me and my silly "logic" and "taste" and "knowledge of music that isn't shoved in my face by Corporate America".

Ummm, maybe it's just me and my youthful thinking, but Indie music is independant from major record labels... And alternative music has become mainstream now, so alternative is just a genre of music now, no longer really alternative.

Arctic monkeys are AMAZING indeed..but it was too hard for me to select a #1 song from all of their songs. I love all of them and I listen to various ones at times, at one time I like that song and then that song. Gotta blame them for making so many good songs :(
