Perfect!! Thx so much for uploading Requiem in this format, I always wanted to know what is the meaning of the powerful voices in Mozart's requiem and now I'm finally able to understand..GJ!!
He easily reached level 33 you ignorant. Mozart was a genious and your book was full of crap, none of you kow about that because you are not free masons, nor your family, like somebody said, this is an amazing masonic masterpiece, and there are plenty of them, like the magic flute.
Thank you for posting this, it is a beautiful and powerful portion of Requiem. The people who were raised Roman Catholic will recognize the words and works as being from the Catholic Church before it changed. It is too bad the church had to change to make it more "modern'. I personally go to a traditional, Latin speaking mass.
thats just stupid....mozart's requiem is and always will be a masonic masterpiece....and no, he didnt meet the masons just because of social prestige, he really believed in those moral values....
@xemnas0000 Mozart was born and raised Roman Catholic. There was nothing Masonic about him. He died of rheumatic fever. This is a mass for the dead. It's standard in classical music, and can be the crowning piece of a composer, especially in this case. I'm writing one myself.
@AlexOfMacedonAOMH even as a catholic, I totally agree. The warning is only for those who believe, need not for everyone and this music is excellent as you said!
no they are not the words for those who don't believe. if you really are a christian as you claim you should know that Jesus never forced his father's religion upon others. people are free to choose their faith.
IMO, when one warns you this means that he is telling you what can happen. It is not enforcement. And it is Christ's religion, as he and his father are one. I think we belong to different sides of Christianity and let's stop here.
of course not YOURE BLIND... become christian is the only way to go to heaven WORSHIP my invisible intangible god... makes so much sence... you're so idiot...
greets a little of sarcasm to make your day happier friend...
erm, actually christianity doesn't state that becoming christian is the only way to go to heaven. be so kind and do some research before insulting people. are you not embarrased for using insulting words with no apparent reason.
anyway, people, why are you debating on religion? can't you simply enjoy the music? O_0
mmm the bad words were used on sarcasm... christianity is just plain manipulation by rulers to keep the people blind and easy to handle... and for you...
oh my, can't even find intelligent people for an interesting discussion nowadays, oh well. I already see what kind of future awaits you with that behaviour of yours.
whatever. talk is over. now I'm just sitting back, and enjoying the music. so long. loser
Mozart wrote this while he felt his own death! He lived his death! Maybe God told him what to compose... This 1:53 closes all the music of the universe! My oppinion!
@drummerhellas you're probably right i know that mozart wrote lacrymosa which was played at his funeral, homo reius was a reference to the man that killed him
Yes. Although many people only see this as good music, devout Christians believe there is coming a day when God's wrath will be poured out on all unrighteousness. We have salvation from that wrath and peace with God through Christ.
To tayh212: I do not understand. You don't agree that there will be a day of judgment? You don't agree that we are reconciled to God by Christ? or, You don't agree that Christians believe those things? I believe you do think it is good music, yes? :0)
You are definitely entitled to your opinioin. I am merely stating what most Christians believe. Of course, you do not state why you think I'm wrong -- but then youtube is really not the place for such debates.
now...im not sure..but i believe mozart was a freemason or a mason..and perhaps he converted or became a believer of Christ and hence was poisoned. this might explain why in his last peices he basically cries out to God to forgive him!
He did not write the lyrics, those are just standard lyrics for requiem and they come from a middleages poem. And he met with freemasons, but it was probably only because of social prestige, he was not very smart and did not thing about political issues much. That is what I read in one of the newest and most credible books about him.
@hryzunik Please. Mozart imbued meaning, emotion, and power to these words. It is the meaning that counts. Otherwise, you might as well have a munchkin recite the lord's prayer and see how silly it sounds.
@hryzunik very nice put. You forgot to say that he could be the best composer ever though :) as for the not being smart... that's a long topic... definitions and philosophy come into play...
@hnksnw I simply meant that socially and intelectually he was not very sophisticated. He was quite childish and rough. I did not mean to offend, I just report what I have read. Even in "Amadeus" he is portrayed that way. He was a musical genius, of course, but in other areas he just was not that bright, apparently.
@hryzunik Mozart was Roman Catholic. He was involved with the Church his whole life. I think the commenter above was right in that in his last year, he sensed he was going, and he was crying out to God. Also.... "Amadeus" is fiction. Letters written by people who knew him make clear that he was very polished. I am a Mozart fan too, but let's love him for who he was!
@Haaglander Of course I don't. I just meant that the creators of the movie were probably familiar with some historical descriptions of Mozart's behaviour and so they portrayed him that way. The fact that they made many circumstances up is irrelevat here.
@Haaglander Sure, but what is your point? That I should not claim that he was rude, because all those descriptions of his behaviour might be false? Than I am not really sure, what can we positively say about him, because everything might be false... The way someone behaves is usually mentioned in various different sources, because many people meet and know the person and they express their opinion about him. It should give as at least a rough idea about his character.
Rudeness was a common behaviour of people those days. You should read the letters from Anna Maria Mozart (mother) to Leopold Mozart (father). You will get red ears. :)
Nevertheless, could we really assess someone's character from a few (fragments of) letters (from him, to him and about him)? We know that Constanze (wife) has destroyed many letters after the death of Wolfie. Why did she do that? Her reputation, his reputation? We don't know.
Mozart was indeed a Mason, rising to the rank of 'Master'. He joined the 'Beneficence' lodge and later other,it would have been required that he belong to such a body, not only for the social acceptance but because,in his time, they were one of the few places that new ideas could be discussed without fear of reprisal.
@xemnas0000 Mozart was in the first three ranks of Masonry, where individuals are taught that Masons believe in One, Eternal God ect. and that Masonry is a humanistic organisation.
