Back again..and again..and again to listen to this song of musical magic. I do believe I have identified who Jackie Blue is as far as my own psychological journies go. And it shall forever remain my little secret, but make no mistake, she is the epitome of the female form from which I learned what beauty, womanly mystery, and pure love was, and is, all about. Look for her in your dreams and you'll find her. Then hang onto her forever even if she only exists in your heart and mind.
Ahhhh ... the beverage of choice in my hand, the warm sun upon my face, the gentle breeze in my hair, and the blue, blue water all around. Just add the Ozark Mountain Daredevils' "Jackie Blue" and there's a little slice of Heaven. :)
todays un you know , generation , like cant , you know , well, like , make like original um music . Um , like they must um steal you know , um of the older like generation as um the modern like music is um PROLFEED as um like in 1984 george orwell.
Can I get this song on an IV drip? It is ridiculous that any nation doesn't provide it within its health service budget !! Family allowance for children may be well and good but surely the government needs to expand the budget ! Music feeds the soul.
This is one of those greats from the 70s that personify the many moods of the era. Damn, everytime I hear this "psychologically surreal musical journey" I find myself carried away to times when music was still music and love still was the subject of the day. I never did figure out who Jackie Blue might or might not be, but after 35 years of listening to this piece of musical artwork, I don't really give a shit. I just love the soul-soothing comfort it brings and wish it could just go on forever.
@tyme4mike I agree, I just figured that she was someone that had some kind of tragic existence that lead to some existential void. That's about all I got from it.
@ursa41 Something else that says a great deal about the music of the era..this song only reached number three! Very good of course but if magnificent tunes like this can't go higher than #3 then how great is the other stuff of the times? Bear in mind though that there were some seriously decrepit "music critics" that wouldn't know a guitar rift from a continental rift, but nevertheless, it tells me that the music from that timeless era is incomparable.
@vivandav67 Thanks for the kind comment. Ain't it true though? The tune just lifts you into a "close your eyes and dream your way home" genre of psychological musically surrealism. Let the lyrics caress your muddled present-day mind.."Everyday in your indigo eyes..I watch the sunset but I don't see it rise..Moonlight and stars in your strawberry wine..You take the world but you won't take the time." Find me a soft bed of cedar boughs where I can lay down and listen to tunes like this forever...
I actually had a Jackie... Jackie Sutton shame she left home? sometime around 1978 at the age of 16 or 17? from what was then Scarborugh Ontario Canada. I got a call from girl around that time that asked me if she could stay with me but would not identify herself. I was living at home at the time, I wonder what happened to her and really hope she was okay, sure would make me feel better if I could find out that she is since I was not even allowed to have her come over to see who she was.
