Years ago, a club or a hotel hired a doorman to keep out the trouble makers, now all they do is open the door. Frivilous lawsuits have the changed the ballance of power to favour the individuual over the owner of the establicshment and security personel fear becomming actively involved because they could be sued personally. Sure, access control systems allow the owner to identify lacklisted patrons, but still someone must inforce it.
