  • Tell me, does the tacho work properly in this car?

Every charade with a tacho I've seen has problems with the tacho, either it wont work at all, or it works on and off.

  • it does,

it used to bounce and flick about, i took it apart and re soldered everything. i didnt find anything wrong as such, but it worked ever since. i know others have tried the same thing but had no success, i guess i was just lucky.

  • That is a Diahatsu charade turbo. The same engine as the G11 charade, but this ine is turbocharged.

  • affraid not, the CB70 and CB80 was the only twin-cam Turbo.

  • ouch thats not good lol hope u fixed that beast iv got a funy story bout a gtti a m8 of mine used 2 hav a semi worked 1 had subie vf8 turbo frnt mount cooler 2.5 exuast fule pump and a microtec ecu litle did i no at the time it was makeing just under 200 hp i had just got my subie legacy rs it was stock at the time 150 kw i tink anyway we were at the drags he wantd 2 giv me a race i was laughing untih about 1/4 way dwn track wen he pased me i couldnt catch up 4wd n all lol not fun 4 me lol

  • wow the Gtti block really is the same as the cb23 block, i thought it was different but its pretty much the same.

  • 'pretty much the same' is very different from being the same. the head gasket pattern is different, journal sizes etc....

  • yeah but with a little bit of work, its a doable, Gtti parts arent exactly abundant and the differences can be bridged.

  • if GTti parts 'arent exactly abundant' how will you procure a good head? (which is probably the most difficuly part of the CB80 engine to source.

piston, crank and rods are all different, so is the oil squirter rail and oil cooler...seems like an aweful lot of work for a weak engine.

  • is it expensive to repair the piston?

  • this is EJ engine i think. Its used on Daihatsu Storia/Toyota Duet

  • no its a CB80 ;)

  • Ок, my mistake. didnt want to look in catalog for details :)))

  • charade g100's r the best i have one its non turboed but ive got a sports exhaust on it and some other little bits n pieces, but it goes hard

  • never seen a 3cylender engine before

  • yea, im 14, but since it doesnt have four pistons it must be a two stroke

  • no its a 4 stroke. it is not the number of cylinders that defines it as 4 or 2 stroke, its whether it has valves or not. most lawnmowers and a lot of bikes are single cylinder 4-strokes

  • strange, that looks like a 3cylnder but how? every car needs atleast 4

  • Morgan, Citroen, Honda (car), and many others had two cylinders. Harley-Davidson twins (two-cylinder engines) have all been four-stroke. Lots of little Asian autos have two or three (or four) cylinders, some two-stroke, some four-stroke. Look up "Trabant" and "Geo Metro" with Google. It's never too early nor too late to learn stuff.

  • that good cb80 engine :-(

how you have make it??? drive to many boost?

  • it was just a worn engine. piston slap and bore wear was the main cause.

  • did u get it fixed?

  • i like mika in the background music lol nice vid man

  • i thought you would like it. i chose it just for you.

  • sounds like it running better then ever! lol

  • ye, ok

  • can you still drive it?

  • it drove into the garage didnt it?

  • it drove into the garage didnt it?

  • well that cant be good :/

  • lol @ 3 cylinders :D

  • If that happened, doesn't the block get damaged aswell.

  • sometimes. i got lucky

  • the same thing happened to me in the same spot. I got a charade off a mate and it was running like a bitch so i took it apart and found that #1 piston was stuff like yours. I look for a spare that he had given me and the same thing, haha. I have to buy newies. :(

  • yup, ive seen 2 or 3 go in the same place. ive had 3 failures now in the same spot. mainly due to oval bores, but fiston always melts/brakes/fails in the same ring land. would like to know why exactly

  • hahaha a chunk from the piston fell off! hahaha! DUDE! Try dropping in an Mitsu EVO4 engine in your daihatsu. i did, bit of a headache, but i bitched slapped a number of unsuspecting yuppies in Beamers!

  • cheers, ive got a VG30DETT and rear diff doing nothing...perhaps il do something if i get the time, would like to see pics/vids of your conversion.

check out my other GTti videos

  • hah it has a sweet idle on two cylinders

  • lol the camera is crazy

  • ye they sound pretty nuts when under boost as well, kind of a raspy note like a porsche. running sweet now anyway, thanks.

  • I meant to say hope everything turns out good.

  • Kind of sounds like half of a V6, sounds alright! Hope everything turned out good.

  • Ouch, wouldn't go boosting to hard on that piston :D

  • ye the bore is still more oval than it should be but at least its running well again. will be rebuilding another block soon.

  • I guess new piston and everythin is ok?

  • your camera is moving dude!

  • ye it was sitting on a wooden table, i think the 'bass' from the exhaust caused it to slide on the ice as it vibrated.
