I am so blessed!! My mother used to play this song in the mornings. She still has the album, but I only get to hear it when I go home to visit because she still has a record player. I still sing this song all the time around my house! Now I can hear it here! Thank you so much for putting this up! It truly is a blessing!
Oh my Lord! I have not heard this song in years!! I always loved this song. I was young in the faith then, but it really touched my heart and made me want more of God and to do more for him.
Oh the is truly FAB//So nice to hear this /I can remember it soooo well/what a blessing//It would be so nice if someone knew where to buy this and other old memories they would share it
@shadhom I don't think the James Dewitt Johnson you're refering to is the same person who wrote this song because he's too young to have done so. I remember the rendition of this song from my early teens & I'm now 57 years old. Maybe his father wrote it, or another relative because the writer should be in his 70's or 80's by now.
@San47di1 I went to school with Dewitt who was the founder of the Johnson Ensemblle and one of the founders of the BCM Mass Choir. Our church bust took the BCM mass choir to there first performance. and he is the orignal writer. we were in the same senior class and I now 64 as well as he would be approximately the same age if were in your early teens that would make him early 20's, Dewitt had a great writing ablitly even in HS, could play a piano that you make you hair standup. just saying
my God! I cant believe it! I was about 3 years old when this album was made. we had this album and havent been able to find it anywhered! Im 40 years old now and this song still ministers to me after all these years. God bless you.
Oh my, this is truly a classic. They don't write songs like this one anymore. I used to hear this on WDAS-AM on Sunday mornings with Rev. Louise Williams. Precious memories!!
Being from Philly and having grown up listening to Rev Williams back in the day on 'DAS, I can identify this song with her also. I still listen to her on WURD via the internet, since I moved over 1000 miles away from Philly. Still love to listen to the lady. God bless her and you. I read where Rev. Douglas on this song passed away in 1988
A Gospel gem. I haven't heard this song in centuries. This was a Sunday morning staple on KDIA 1310 am in Oakland CA the late Al Moreland was the DJ and had the religious program on Sunday. Another song was the "Beautiful Garden of Prayer", and "If we ever needed the Lord". Thank God for the old skool songs!!!
Thank God for you!! Do you know my mother and I have been looking EVERYwhere to find this album???? I need this on CD Bad!! This is pure Gospel! I don't know what they call it today, but I am 39 years old and STILL love the pure gospel music!! This is soul stirring and does not sound like the world at all...
Do you hear those ladies SANGIN on this piece?? LOL
DOES ANYONE HAVE Nothing's Gonna Hender Me by Johnson Ensemble or I have been touched, Be My Light.... I could't Tell It.....or anything. Can't find them anymore either.
James Dewitt Johnson is the founder/organizer of the Johnson Ensemble (Who the group is named for),he is also the co-founder of Nashville's B.C.&M.Mass Choir-another great choir of our time.
