  • what the hell happened to your pronunciation dude? you suddenly from broklyn? or did the accent just kicked in? never noticed it before

  • Pit? Overpowered in Brawl? Yeah, he was spammy, but he's totally outclassed in that (and every other way) by Meta-Knight. (but who isn't.) Last I checked he was in the weaker half of the cast.

  • One time I played Kinect I nearly broke my back... Kinect is hazardous to your health!

  • Brekel on Kinect is awesome for motion capture, go get it if you are an independent game developer :3 haters gonna hate

  • I hate Kinect. Not because I'm a so called "hard-core" as much as there is nothing good on it.

Ah right this video is old so I can say that I own a 3DS and it is fucking BEAUTIFUL playing Super Mario 3D Land and Ocarina of Time. For the first time it's a type of 3D that actually works, At first it strains the eyes but you get used to it. Also this is my first time watching a Moviebob video in years. I don't remember him having an accent.

  • "We're better than this." And yet, you have to discuss every other week how the gamer community fucked up again. I don't think they're better than this, Bob. I think they right where everyone thinks they are.

  • Well it took resources away from something that could have been more productive... Whatever... I have the Kinect and I like it for the UFC workout game. Other than that it's eh... Another gimmick...

  • What if the next Mario or Zelda had to be played with a M16 controler that didn't work most of the time and the game was played in first person in order to make it appeal to a wider audience? I doubt you would be defending it at all.

  • Sorry, Bob, but the hate doesn't come (just) from what you said. The main problem with the kinect is that it doesn't work. Seriously, name one game that plays well and just as well on kinect as with a controller.

  • It's because kinetic could be better. It lacks controllers. Add controllers, to the already out, kinect system and it could own.

  • It's funny seeing these in retrospect.

The WII has been a paperweight for a while now, Kinect was fail coming out of the gate and quickly faded into the background.

  • yay back on youtube!

  • "Guys, we're better than this..."

Yeah right. There are websites dedicated to the sort of racist, misogynistic, intolerant BS spouted by users on XBox live. Generally the XBox community and gaming in general has a lot of growing up to do.

  • Why people hate Kinect? Well I dislike how mainstream video gaming has become. Mainstream means video games are being made easier to cater to the lowest common denominator, treats it audience like idiots, and if you think that it doesn't effect the more "hardcore titles" It does. I recently played Arkham City on its hardest difficulty and it was STILL way too easy.

Kinect also symbolizes a step AWAY from game design, control, and artistic merits and a step towards GIMMICKY money faggory.

  • I love your videos.

  • And then they shoe horned kinect into Mass Effect 3

  • Your accent really comes out in this video.

  • Thank you for posting these on YouTube, Bob. It's nice to know I can watch your content on my iPad when my computer is being hogged by my brother.

By the way, are you aware that there are TWO new Ghosts 'n Goblins games? They're for iOS, too.

  • Good. You're finally uploading to Youtube. Makes this a lot easier for me.

  • Never go full boston

  • i used to defend the kinect then i took an arrow to the knee

  • Wow I felt like going to a Boston bar wand playing Wii after this episode.

  • I'm just now noticing the brooklinese accent.

  • I have a ps3 but I must admit dance central is AWESOME

  • I love when he slips back into the Boston accent.

  • @PureLionHeart Dont you mean Brooklyn?

  • @Supersayan21 No, it's Boston. He says so himself on one of his episodes of The Big Picture.

  • if theyre trying to market to "hardcore" gamers. why the fuck would tney display the kinect being played by a family with young children? I dont mind being biased to a degree; but not to the point that it makes you look like a dumbass.

  • @ZayLong Simple answer to the question my friend. To broaden the market. Best way to make money, the bigger the audience the more people buy. Now I'm not saying that's what happened but that was the intention. If you wanted to sell more consoles the Kinect is actually not a bad move since it broadens the market so that it wasn't restricted to just hardcores. If people are mad simply because it's not hardcore then just don't buy it and let others buy it. Besides it's all about potential it has.

  • @ZayLong Family oriented? they use sites IGN who use horrendous amounts of adult themes and language in their coverage. At least Nintendo truly kept everything family themed in their shows. MS tried to have their cake and eat it too by meshing both adult entertainment with family friendly environment. That is like having porn play on the TV screen in an Applebee restaurant. the people would be like WTF!

  • @Zeldaschampion Family Oriented? who said that? you cant possibly be talking to me.

  • @ZayLong I was replying to the other response. I hit you instead but you're right and this only proves what I said about MS trying to have their cake and eat it too. They figured they would hit the family market with the kinect while Halo would attract the hardcore.

  • @Zeldaschampion well if they clearly separated those two mediums within their console then i dont there would be a problem with that.

  • @munchie64 fuck, 2006, you know what i meant >_<

  • @OuroborosChoked That exists? Oh. I had no idea. Was never advertised over here(Scotland).

  • On more than one occasion, bob has remarked tat he wanted to see a new retro version of Ghosts 'n Goblins. I wonder if he's figured out that one came out already.

    IN 1996.

    ON THE PSP.

Yeah, bob's not biased or uninformed, right?

  • @OuroborosChoked The PSP in 1996? The fuck?

  • I don't think it has much to do with image for most people. It's more that motion control is less responsive than buttons. Controlling a game is about having the least amount of time between thought and action.

The only part I support about Kinect is that at least its exploring new aspects of gaming technology. Maybe it could ultimately lead to something good, like a Matrix system in the year... 2700 lol. Until then, I like my handheld controls thanks.

  • In fairness, I still cringe at the outright stupidity of the kinect. It was completely mis-marketed. Is there anyone out there, gears fan or not, who doesn't want to kinect-chainsaw a locust?

Damnit microsoft! This is not hard!

  • The company that really determines my interest in kinect, and my worry over it, is bioware.

Apparently, they're planning to make games for 4 consoles for the next couple or releases; ps3, wii, xbox, and xbox with kinect, as if it was a separate thing, which is an awesome move.

If it works, and I like it, I'll be getting a kinect... but it'll also set the tone, and more games will come out from more companies, and suddenly the argument that kinect games would be a separate market is invalid.

  • Look, I'm sorry, but the Kinect is godawful. The thing barely works, is restrictive, mostly unresponsive, & over priced. It's a non-functioning turd of an idea, a non-starter. Microsoft should've just shelved the damn thing. Now, I'll admit, I'm against motion controlled gaming. I'm not against because it's not "hardcore" (an pedantic concept) or because I'm against gamers getting off our asses, but because

    *continued*

  • @lycanfan to me, it's just not as immersive as simply holding a controller, feeling it in your hands & pushing buttons & thumbsticks. Holding the controller gives me a sense of connectivity to the game. It's also because there's no feedback. If I'm playing, say, Skyward Sword, swing my blade & it both an enemy & a wall, there's no feedback response from doing so, and there's less than nothing with Kinect. I'm siding with Yahtzee on this one: motion gaming is a terrible idea.

  • @lycanfan You hit the nail on the head. MS used a low resolution detector in the camera causing a lot of detection problems. The resolution, I believe was like 640 by 480. Plus they needed to incorporate some kind of new controller in order for thing to truly work right.

  • 1) Nintendo DID abandon their core audience, as proven mostly by this entire year. Where only about 3 good games in total were released Conduit 2,Kirby and Zelda. That is it. Nintendo did abandon the hardcore when the Wii came out and became a hit with grandma and grampa. sure they threw us the odd bone to nibble but most of the meat was gone. Now they are trying to double take with the Wii U because they know they scorned the wrong audience.

  • @snake2006 Nintendo doesn't really have much to do with what third party people do. Also they have ALWAYS, ALWAYS released very few first party titles near the end on a consoles life span.

  • >Pit overpowered in Brawl

    BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

  • heh...you said war of doody :P . But for me i generally make it a rule not to hate on things that ive never played / tried etc . And bob i really wish that ppl would have a smart enough brain cell in their minds to say oh this doesnt look like something im interested in so im just not gonna buy it.....then they buy it and their angry and hate over it :/ cause otherwise there would be less bitching around

  • If it lasts i hope that the applications for the Kinect make it possible for a 3-D Rouge Squadron game with a Virtual display with more interactive Virtual buttons that you can throw a psp at.

  • Looking at these videos in retrospect, I have to say Bob has a knack at predicting gaming trends.

  • Still waiting on Kid Icarus though!

  • Gewd lawd you slip into that accent quite a bit in this one. *shudders*

  • I mean Other M of course!

  • 3:35 Though I've heard from MANY angry fans about that being horrid :P Can't say I played it myself.

Also, the only thing that bothers me personally about Kinect is just how patronizing the advertising is. Seriously, take a gander at ANY Kinect ad. You'll invariably face-palm. Other than that, it and I can coincide peacefully (and we do!)
