  • Steve and i drove all over LA distributing this 12" EP when it came out. BTW, this is the correct speed. we also had a magazine called LA Beat that was associated with the label. those were "heady" days...the late 7t's and early 8t's!

  • Funny I saw them in Costa Mesa too!

  • Brings back the memories....

  • AAAHH!! The 80's.I Sure Do Miss Them. Anyone Invent A Time Machine Yet?

  • I saw them at a club in Costa Mesa, CA in '80. Don't remember the show but it must have been good, I bought & still have the EP! ;) thx 4 posting

  • I saw them open for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at the old Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre and I must say I was probably there to the Plimsouls! I went with Lisa, I wish I knew where Lisa was now

  • actually this tune got lots of airplay on 91x, sandeggo...

  • His voice kinda sounds like Tom Petty and the music kinda sounds like Elvis Costello. Great song from a great band.

  • Insanely cool!

  • Power Pop rules.

  • I saw them at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach, back in 1981

  • @Tom777CA Were they a So Cal band? Lots of postings about the band playing in small venues all over the OC. Rock On!

  • Epic EP version that was released prior to the popular, slightly more up tempo radio/album version.

Damn this song makes me miss vinyl!

  • This song was also on their EP by the same name, Zero Hour, and was released in 1980 on Beat Records before they got the record deal on Planet records in 1981. KROQ played this tune quite a bit back in the day!

  • I saw them at the Starwood in the early 80's Good show

  • Oh wow... haven't heard this in YEARS!!!

  • This song takes me back. What a great song.

  • I got this Album but its got a chip! Its broken!

I saw these guys at some ranch in the Anaheim Hills California back in the 80s!

  • Awesome Song !!

  • Has a cool Elvis Costello vibe. The only song I knew from this band was A Million Miles Away.

  • I have both versions -- the EP and the album -- both on vinyl. Probably because I heard the EP version first, it's still the one I prefer. I like the lack of repeated vocals after the phrase "until the Zero Hour" on every verse except the last one, where they do repeat it. On the album version, they repeat it on every verse, and somehow that makes it lose some of its tension.

  • The Last American Virgin soundtrack!

  • I have this ep sounds great

  • Peter Case; cool. Rodney used to pump this band so much and when they played around LA, it was like magic.

  • I first heard them in like '80 when my brother's friend brought this new record/band to show/play, we shared a room and I was a sleep so they had to wake me to play the record (I think I was 12). Anyway, still a classic some 30 years later. Ric players can usually write good songs, Lennon, Petty and Weller played a ric.

  • Thanks for upping!

I believe there were two versions (lyric wise) for this song also.

  • I have this record too....this sounds kinda slow.

  • I thought so too, but it is the correct speed. I have an old cassette from 82, off KROQ and it does sound a tick faster, but I have done research that shows some radio stations turntables were a few ticks faster than the real speed, as I have noticed many songs to have this same thing also...so I'll keep it this way, that this should be the real correct mixed speed. Thx.

  • @misft13 The radio/album version *is* a bit faster. I'll send ya the link, since I cannot post it here...

  • I played in a band that covered this in like '82. Awesome.
