Matthew Goode and Malin Ackerman were both bad, for different reasons. Thew slo-mo was overused.I have read the graphic novel, and liked it a lot. I just thought the film was poorly directed and cast (I did think Jackie Earl Hailey was perfect though)

Yeah. Sadly, nobody can't be surprised that the movie didn't fully capture the source material. Novels, comics, and literature in general usually get the Hollywood spin in order to make money and something as great & rich like Watchmen was definitely going to take a hit. It's probably not possible outside of maybe an animated take to really get the full impact to transfer to film.

Look at V for Vendetta. It was based off the graphic novel by Alan Moore (same author from Watchmen) and as a FILM, it was fantastic, but as an adaptation, it was...not so good.

For Watchmen or V for Vendetta to be fully adapted to film, it would take 2-3 movies, all of which would be 3 hours long (like LoTR)

@MaxDamageProductions Yeah there were some scenes wish weren't left out, but Watchmen is a very hard piece of work to adapt. I think Zach did an amazing job accomplishing the one film that has been so hard to adapt, and he did it very well. If i were you i would get the ultimate cut of watchmen, its basically the book in the movie. I have the directors cut, and its just as good. I think zach should've kept the directors cut as the theatrical.

@EricJames47 I never read the novel, but I have the stop motion comic on DVD. Basically it's the same thing as reading the novel. I think Hollywood should re do the animated part as a full length cartoon with voice over actors and everything, make it a twelve part series, and air it on HBO or Showtime. That way the fans get the full story, not just the condensed live action version.

Some of the insertions (like the Ship Of The Damned comics) were artsy crap that didn't belong, and I don't appreciate page after page of textual backstory inside what's ostensibly a graphic novel. I thought the movie did a good job of distilling the story to the parts that mattered.
