The amazing backstory is story that God uses anyone - everyone is created in His image & shares His characteristics & he wants to use everyone - no matter how flawed & how much they struggle. Despite his own inner struggles Lonnie pointed thousands of people toward the grace & love of the Lord, he soldiered on in the mission even when he was failing - could you imagine the influence of the church if 5% of the people had that commitment to the message of Christ! He is at peace with the Lord now.
he died of aids.this man has such a loving look in his eyes that it made me cry.what a transparent humble man.all you christians this is how a real christian looks.im sorry he died such a horrible way.
This makes me sad....All I can say is theses people who hate gays need to do some research... Translation, and many other things have changed. I grew up at calvary, went to high school, pre school gosh everything. I'm a Christian and will always will be, cause I love the lord. But never once was he so mean and hatred to us... I wish some people new how to show love.. I like to say what christ said.. PULL the log out of your eye! LOVE DON'T HATE WWJD.....
@matatat1 i know that u posted 8 mos ago, but seeing this after watching the outcome of his life in the vid doesn't add up. what you've said is a misconception and incorrect. it's not ok, but what IS is for a person to admit that they have a problem-- and do something to change for the better. when God uses someone, it's for HIS glory, HIS power, HIS authority. not to say that the person doesn't matter, but we shouldn't glorify that person-- most especially when they lead sinful lives.
Romans 11:29 - God gave these gifts to Lonnie, and Lonnie used them for God's glory for a long time - then, he began to take them for granted, and used them without any thanks or care - just as God gives gifts of music, teaching, evangelism, etc. and people may use them for their own selfish reasons, but God does not take them away - And He may "blot their name out of the Book of Life"...Our names are "written into the Book & may be blotted out - Rev. 20:15, Ex.32:33 / Rev. 3:5 (Only God knows)
i just heard of lonnie frisbee, i dont know what happened to him. i know as a beliver we are not perfect nor never will be until we're with Christ our Lord, and the bible doesnt try to cover up how men used by God sometimes fell, ie, David, Solomon, Samson, Peter. but BY Gods grace they are still in the hall of faith (Heb 11)
Post 3 see Post 1 // In Lonnie's case, it seems that he was not able to withstand some of the challenges this world threw at him like all of us. Our goal is to love each other through it all, highs and lows, victories and failures. Only the Lord knows what the inner workings of our hearts. Our role is to love each other, restore each other when we fall, and pick each other up. Jesus died for all these things. Let's seek to show the same hand of restoration and love while no condoning sin.
Post 2 see below first // Also then .. in the Christian life, a person starts out with the endeavor to do everything that God has asked him to do. Sometimes he gets it right, sometimes he fails. God loves him the same. In scripture it's clear however, that to be in leadership, one must maintain a higher level of integrity than others. When someone doesn't do that, it doesn't always disqualify him, it means he needs to step back and humble himself before the Lord to be restored.
Post 1 // When a man becomes the CEO of a company, does anyone really know if he has the inner character to pull it off on the long haul? Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't. When he doesn't, he gets fired. Does that make him a terrible person? No .. it makes him someone who tried his best, but given his challenges, didn't do all that he had hoped. In the end, that person is still the person who was originally hired because of the potential he demonstrated.
People expect preachers to be perfect and never to struggle with sin.
Lonnie was still human, and obviously struggled with sexual issues.
Pastors have been involved in all sorts of immorality (e.g. marital infidelity, substance abuse).
And the people who want them cast into darkness need to examine themselves... just because you're not a preacher doesn't mean you are held to a lower standard.
Sad...very sad. I am confused now about the Jesus People movement. Was it of God? Or was it all just manipulation?
I love the teaching of Chuck Smith and what I here from Calvary Chapel is very solid and sound and has helped me immensely...but this...I don't know quite what to make of it.
There us nothing confusing here to me. The Word of God did the work. The servant used did not matter. Remember that Judas was among the Apostles performing miracles. God can use anyone to do His Work and the fact that Mr. Frisbee was overcome by his sin in the long run does not mean that the people touched are defiled. It is the Word of God that is the power to salvation and not Lonnie Frisbee or any other man.
I'm not a Christian, but it's obvious that this Lonnie guy never became a "new creature in Christ," because his lifestyle said one thing, while he did another. He was only fooling himself, and others too. If only he could have just been up front about who he was, rather than hiding behind a Christian facade. This also illustrates what kind of supposed discernment these self-proclaimed supposed "men of God" like Chuck Smith and John Wimber have. None! What a sad joke.
Was Jesus of little discernment as well when he called Judas to be an apostle or when he gave Judas power along with the other apostles to perform miracles and preach the gospel? Being a "man of God" does not mean that you have a gift of discernment, it means that you are God's servant and you honor His Word. Some men become entangled in sin. Jesus spoke about this in the Parable of the Sower Matthew 13: 1-23. Lonnie's fall does not discount that many came to Christ through his life.
Or maybe you all christians are only fooling yourself by ostracizing all homosexual activities as sinful, and maybe he was much, MUCH more of a man of God than most preachers out there?
Dunno, just a thought.
I may very well be an Atheist, but if there ever was someone that could have possibly convinced me to become even a little bit christian, it would have been someone like him, someone that represented the true message of Love of your prophet Jesus.

Dick Suckers ^ Sodomite Queers SHALL NOT HAVE PART IN GOD'S KINGDOM.
I hate to be mean, but THE BIBLE ACTUALLY SAYS: GOD HATES QUEERS!
I "CAME OUT" of Calvery TO STAY OUT OF HELL!
It was HARDER to ADMIT THAT 100% Of CHRISTAIN 501.c.(3) CHURCHES are DEVILISH SODOMITE WHORE HOUSES!
However, When I ACCEPTED the TRUTH, GOD BLESSED ME, with JOY & A MINISTRY to PREACH GOD'S HATE!
Oh, SODOMITE QUUEERS! REPENT! CUT YOUR OFFENDING PENIS OFF!
OR GOUGE OUT YOUR "LUSTING" EYES!
ELSE, HELL OF ETERNITY

The organized church killed another one because it does what it does best and that is to kill real believers.
