strange to see that this commercial obviously can impress people from abroad but not many of us germans ourselves... ^^
it was disliked by many back then because of the somehow strange text many mocked about (YOU are the tree... and so on ^^). others disliked it because of the style and many found it a chrashed image campaign arousing too patriotic feelings.
it was just meant to motivate in a way and to create a certain feeling of community one feared to lose - done by 25 media companies.
@BlauerBooo i think it's that after the whole hitler business we have become very very careful when it comes to patriotism... i mean it's ok to have a flag on your car and house when it comes to the football word cup for example (bc there is a direct reason fot the flag), but other than that it's frowned upon, like it's sth dirty or dangerous, to be proud of your country for its own sake somehow doesn't go down well in germany... ach ich hab keine ahnung xD
