  • start giveing lectures out saying you should be licenced for that radio and loads of more finger pokeing will start. just wanna say this too why don't you get a YAESU FT-857D like I've got then at least you'll have 100watts of power insted of 5watts on that YAESU FT-817 and you'll whack out on whatever band you want it's got 50w 2meters 20watts 70cms and 100watts on all hf bands includeing 6meters and 11meters on all modes too just a thought for you save ya pennys and get one.

  • hay it's ok man no problem mate all I was doing was looking out for you that's all because I've seen people busted for haveing a opened HF radio simlar to what you've got and they got a rediculous charge some where in the regin of 10,000quid fine plus 6months in the slamer all I'm saying is be very careful if your mobile because lets just say a amature is up there on say 2meters he'll start finger pokeing asking what band your on etc and if he sees you say on 11meters he'll flip.

  • Fair enough mate,

Sorry for the bad reply, not in a good mood today due to the snow.

  • Hi Robin. Great video! I used to have an FT817, and it was fun for what it did. Arthurs Seat... I remember hearing an American say "Gee - is that where that guy pulled the sword out of the stone?" HI. 73 - Rob VK2GOM / G0MOH

  • Hi Rob, sorry for the late reply.

It reminds me of my old history teacher who worked in Edinburgh Castle as a tour guide and once someone walked up to him and asked "what time does the 1 o'clock gun go off?".

My favorite one is "Gee they built the castle next to a railway station!"

I suppose i would be the same as a tourist lol! All the best!

  • @Robin814 Worse than that the American tourist who used the 20p binoculars, saw the TV transmitter at Burntisland and said to the tour guide "Hey is the the Eiffel tower?"

  • Very clever indeed 73's DAVE (M0OGY)

  • worried your radio was going to fall off!73's

  • What do you use for power when your out and about with that rig? Is it the internal batteries? If so, how long do they last?

  • Hi, i tan a small motorcycle battery that came out of my scooter about 7amh power source at around 12V

I used the battery because the internal ones don't last very long for me. About 30mins for a half hour

  • Funny!

  • Good to see another bicycle mobile video and an 817 user!

  • COOL!

  • Cheers Simon ;-)

  • How do you open it to work on 11m ?

  • Nice one indeed Robin, excellent 73s

    Simon
