Forced third person kills, cover system to be hidden, regenerating health, consolized pieced of shit game that will have to be fixed with hundreds of mods.
Playing the preview, i can say the regen has no effect on combat. Even fighting out a room, taking just a single hit and advancing another two rooms my health will still be regenerating. it is very very very slow, much slower than the regen aug from DX1.
I don't know what all the hate for regen is. If they can do it right, it will be better than what you are all afraid of it being (CoD health regen) and better than having to back track for health kits every ten minutes.
@commandershepard13 Designers have this notion that just because you can get back health automatically, that must mean they will balance it by having you face down hordes of enemies. Entering rooms are an exercise in cover-leaning and killing enough guys to find the next bit of cover.
I don't understand the constant praise of the first game. Yes the game was revolutionary for its time and definitely a pioneer of the sandbox/ RPG style of gameplay as it offered some deep choices you had to make in the game, etc. But there are so many silly things about the game such as the dumb AI, shooting people in the head 5 times and they still don't die (making tranq darts useless). I really don't see how the game was AMAZING. (Don't get me wrong though, its still a very fun game.)
@playa318 Really? Cause I wait for the aiming cursor to slowing move in (where it overlaps the other cursor) wait a good 30 secs, aim the shot, and it never freaking works.
Yes. The tanq darts don't kill with one shot for a headshot though and I know for sure the sniper rifles do. It's been a while since I last played it.
@UnwillingOrigins The tranq darts would slowly wound a guy over time. It actually didn't matter where you hit them. If you did, they'd typically drop eventually. You just needed to be patient and hide while that happened.
@UnwillingOrigins are you stupid? traq darts were not useless. if you shoot a person with a tranq dart, they don't go down instantly. JUST LIKE IN REAL LIFE.
I'm not hating it as much as I was when it was first announced. I read somewhere that on Deus Ex difficulty it takes 30 seconds to regen, and that's just if you get winged.
After red jelly appears on your screen, you slowly recover health while listening to Adam's heavy breathing.
I have faith that EM have appealed to the mass crowd with Health Regen (Yes, I'm looking at you, damn casual gamers!) while giving it a twist that entertains the more intelligent people.
@ummiehummie I'm not sure of the exact details of the 4 pillars you can upgrade in the game, but I immagine if you can increase your heealth with skill points, it would be under the combat pillar. But that's just a guess.
So the health regen is just to recover outside of battle. It's too slow to affect the battles worth squat.

Headshots kill in one shot in the first game (but not for the "boss" types for obvious reasons). However, I am a fanboy and you make fanboys cry :(

are you saying there is no body part health system anymore?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Deus Ex 1's health system was perfect, why change it?!

The short answer: Health Regens by itself. Just go hide somewhere till you will the bullet holes in your face better...

Was his purpose to adore DX3 or was he supposed to inform?
Would have been interesting to hear about this. Getting hit is supposed to be a penalty. Regen is counteractive to that.
