Keith Barry is an asshole. Doing something like that to someone just to demonstrate what a powerful hypnotist you are isn't impressive or funny, it's just mean.

That said, the most interesting thing is how he picked a very suggestible guy out of the audience, just like that. This would NOT work on everyone. I wonder if Barry had some contact with the audience prior to the show and sized this guy up at that point.

I study micro-expressions and body language and in this instance the man being hypnotized shows general and honest passive fear. He doesn't display surprise like most actors will. He isn't acting. He is genuinely afraid of what's happening.

One of the early posts about this video is that "Hypnosis is not a form of entertainment." That is just absurd. True, it is a powerful tool to alter how people think, feel, and act. It can change lives.

However, it is also a really great form of entertainment. I have hypnotized many RPGers to really 'live' the game. They love it and I enjoy watching them as they are being chased by dragons, orcs, aliens, etc.

Not to mention sticking them to everything in sight.  ;-)

As a master hypnotist myself, I see no reason to doubt this video. First of all, based upon where the video starts, the subject may well have been hypnotized earlier (very likely).

However, it is also quite easy, if one knows how to spot the somnambulists, to do this to a complete stranger with no prep. I've done similar. I take my classes to the street to demonstrate to me that they have learned what I taught. We drop people all over the place. It is a lot of fun.

This is real hypnosis. See his eyes flutter? The audience was surely primed and tested for hypnosis before the live show and the gray hair guy was picked because KB found him to be easily suggestible. To me, it looks like he was highly fractionated (brought in and out of trance several times) already. The more times this is done, the quicker/deeper one goes into trance. They were doing hypnosis earlier in the show and I'm sure he surreptitiously gave the audience hypnotic suggestions during it.
