They know no matter how crappy they and immature they are they will always be there, and that may sound romantic but its actually dysfunctional. but in season 5 we saw them pretend to be engaged and kiss and there was a lot of friendship scenes atleast (linked to Angie). Not to mention they shot Lucas's dream of what it would be like if they were married.

So it doesnt make sense that theres suddenly hardly any interaction with them this season, so their divorce being the reason doesnt seem believable.
